Big Help Needed for DBF Editing!!!

Tue Jul 11, 2006 8:32 pm

hi..

i tried downloading a patch for a jersey and it required me to change some stuff in dbf....me, being new to dbf downloaded db commander 2000 and tried to change some stuff according to the readme....something said in the readme of the patch that i was suppose to change some properties of the teamgear....but the problem is when i tried to edit it there were no teams it only said team number 1-54 or sumthing...and the worst problem that there were a lot of team no. 1, team no. 2 and so forth....so i tried a team number and the next thing i knew i couldnt load my dynasty...i had to uninstall and install the game back....

need help in the whole dbf editing coz i also want to try making custom teams and etc...

help please!

well if u are having problems now idk if u should try making custom teams..
but i will definitely help u with trying to get the jerseys in your game once u do this and install alot more jerseys maybe u will get better..right now even i am not at the custom team stage...

ok so when u open teamgear.dbf you have to scroll down to the very bottom until you see no more lines..there u click on the last line and press the down arrow key to make a new line... now add in all the stuff the readme says...if u have a hard time understanding the readme i can also help u with that..post here ur problems

as concerns the team numbers, this corresponds to the team id field in teams.dbf Anyway, you can get more info about the various fields in the .dbf file from the main site. Specifically;

teams.dbf: http://www.nba-live.com/nba2006/dbf_teams.php
teamgear.dbf: http://www.nba-live.com/nba2006/dbf_teamgear.php

If you scroll to the bottom line in the database in DB Commander, you can press the down arrow key to create a new line.

i just want to apologyse to andrew. AS i said, my english is not very good and i couldn`t understand what you meant. Now i understand the problem is that if i want to share my nba live 2006 updates with everybody that loves nba live as me, i have to do it ALL on my own, not updating your march andrew's update but the whole thing on my own from the original rosters of the game.
I only was trying to help people who dont have much time and use my own one i have now to do it for everybody. I always see people sharing things like the updates in the net and i wanted to contribute.
Sorry and go for the nba 2007. Hope it brings us lots of surprises and new things.
Greetings from Spain.

well i understand but you must know, it's andrew's work, he has control over it. it was nice of you to try and help everyone out, but you have to wait until he makes a decision on wether or not to continue this with a new rookies update, if he decides to do continue, then you can help him with it..otherwise you will have to use someone else's if they give you permission or start with ea's rostesr...

but anyways this is off topic...now that this is solved please lock

Sat Jul 15, 2006 1:05 pm

ok its me again!

in the readme of a jersey patch, it said to type some stuff...ex. false 123 etc...

will i just insert those to a blank row?

thanks for the help!

Sat Jul 15, 2006 1:06 pm

and if i'm done how do i save it? or do i need to just close db?

help again :D !

Sat Jul 15, 2006 1:10 pm

Please don't double post, edit your previous post if you have something to add. Thanks. :)

To save your changes, just move to another cell in the database and close DB Commander.

Sat Jul 15, 2006 1:32 pm

oh sorry about the double post...im kinda new here (its my 2nd moth and im not aware of the rules yet)

what do you mean by "move to another cell in the database"?

and myh other question in the readme of a jersey patch, it said to type some stuff...ex. false 123 etc...

will i just insert those to a blank row?

thanks :)

Sat Jul 15, 2006 1:36 pm

yes you make a new row like i said(goto the bottom one and press the down arrow key) then you type in all the stuff and then you click on a different row and it will automatically save.
