WTF!!!???

Wed Jul 05, 2006 5:50 am

Ok, Im playing a game and theres like 5 seconds left till half time, they give the ball to Etan Thomas who in my game has 1 for 3 point rating, he is at the half court line, he shoots a 3 at the buzzer and scores.
WTF!!!
it counted, and i am just wandering how the fuck does a guy who has 1 for 3 point shooting get a half court shot in?i dont have a screenshot or vid but seriously, this is fuckin messed. and im not even makin this up. oh yeah and etan thomas was under control of cpu.

Happens sometimes, no big deal. There where often game winning buzzer beaters even by players who rarely hit the three. In my Games Yao Ming hit a three from beyond the half-court line to win the game. I hit such a shot with Boris Diaw once. But as I mentioned before, it happens very seldom, so why complain about it.

Yeh they're very rare. Like once at All Star Game in my retired 'Cats Dynasty Shaq scored a buzzer beater from hlaf court line!

Wed Jul 05, 2006 6:36 am

wtf..
unrealism lol....their 3 point rating should just be 0...and they should never be able to hit a 3 never!!!

Wed Jul 05, 2006 7:00 am

The reason why their three point rating has some value to it is because they do have a probability of hitting a shot from half court. Zoran Plannicic hit a 70 footer one game, and I don't think he's going to be attempting any more of those anytime soon...

It's not unrealistic at all, on the contrary. Players make those shots all the time.
And just because Thomas is a bad shooter doesn't mean he should never hit a single shot. Any basketball player can hit a three pointer, it's just a matter of consistency..
Besides, the further away, the more luck (and less skill) it takes to hit a shot like that. I guess Thomas just got lucky..

Wed Jul 05, 2006 7:17 am

lol..but in real life the shots are like throws, this was like an actual jumpshot :p

Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:12 am

do you remember when R. Swift from the Sonics threw the ball all the way from their free throw line and made it. That happen when the Sonics played the Spurs back in '05 Playoffs, 2nd round. so, It's not unrealistic at all.

Mo Pete drove through the lane blind folded and made a lay-up.
Crazy things happen.

Wed Jul 05, 2006 12:00 pm

It's frustrating, but fortunately not common enough to be completely unrealistic.

nope in real life i seen arenas hit like a near half court jumper and billups in the 2004 playoffs on the buzzer

Wed Jul 05, 2006 5:00 pm

But he does not only complain about this thing happening. I also noticed what is more unrealistic than bad 3pt-shooters hitting buzzer-beaters (what isn't really bad because it happens in real life too ;-)) is that no matter from where they do a buzzer beater it is always a jump shot. Should be more of throw (like he said) e.g. of football's quarterback, you understand (from long distances like own half or something).

Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:07 pm

Absolutely, it should be more of a lob especially if you shoot on the run from behind half court.

Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:11 pm

yep like chucking it up not a jumpshot. billups from near half court on the 3 ot match

Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:39 pm

guys, i wondering is it fair?! 80% of all my shots with 1 or lil less seconds left on the clock, referee doesn't count it! and when cpu shots after the buzzer, even when buzzer ends, and than playa shoots, his points's counts!

Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:12 am

its a bug, usually mine count too

Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:32 am

the same thing with me marcus camby hits the shot from half court and 3 diffenders are infront of him and hi makes the shot well thats unreall
