Portraits on a created player

Fri Jun 09, 2006 1:53 am

Disclaimer: Before you link me to a tutorial: I have read them. All of them. Every thread, every word of each one that i could find. None of them have the answer i'm seeking. Others have had the same problem, but short of importing their own cyberface, none have found answers to their problem.

That said...I've successfully imported a portrait to my created player. Works great. Unfortunately, in changing the ISCREATED value, the game no longer uses my created players IN GAME face. Instead, i have what seems to be the face/head i created, only a different skin color and with slightly different facial hair and hair color. When i go to Edit Player, in game, my face appears as i created it. But when i'm playing a game, the face is not right.

NOTE: I am not using, nor do i have any desire to being using a custom cyberface.

The FACEID in appearances.dbf for my created player is 215. Changing it to -1, obviously, gives my player a nondescript, pink head. All the values in appearances.dbf regarding my player's skin color are consistent with the values i gave them in game.

My question thusly becomes: Has anyone experienced this problem and fixed it (without using a custom cyberface)?

If not, does anyone know what that current FACEID (215 in my case) is referring to? What file might i be able to extract that from and troubleshoot?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

FACEID is the ID number for a created face. As far as I know, there's no files to edit for it. Have you tried editing the face and then saving it?

well...since i've changed "ISCREATED" in the dbf, i cant edit the face in game. i found a faces.dbf file in the same folder, and my FACEID is in there, along with settings that are seemingly correct (ie: what i put in when i created my player)...i checked this file in both my roster save folder and my dynasty save folder...both correct.

i'm hesitant to mess around with the faces.dbf file to debug because i dont know what the values are (most of the fields are self-explanatory). if i could turn off all those slow, annoying intro screens i'd be more willing to try, but i cant stand waiting so long to get to the main menu each time i restart the game.

you don't have to. just reload the rosters after each time you make a change. no need to restart the game.
