Postby loufred on Tue Jun 06, 2006 12:29 am

i have a problem with my defense : when the other team take the ball, my PG donesn't always come defend on him, and my Shooting forward usually takes its place. i don't know how to solve that. i looked at the strategies, at the matchups, and i don't solve this

can you help me , guy ?

PS : excuse my english

Just select the pg and go towards him. The guy guarding him should switch I believe.

the problem is that i try to switch to my point guard but he is often in the paint and too far to be chosen. i don't understand, i've never had this problem with the previous issues of the game ( i just bought '06 )

any idea ?

Yeah. all u gotta do is switch to the point guard and come up yourself

but this is usually a good thing when u play with San Antonio tho. Bruce Bowen can pretty much rip any point guard on the game.

In my experience, it's really important to get your PG on the CPU's PG as soon as possible after the CPU gets the ball. The game will punish positional mismatches like SF on PG (often with a fast break), even if the SF is a highly rated defender. As mentioned earlier in the thread, direct switch is the way to find your PG so you can move him up.

The root of this problem lies in the game's retarded defensive AI. Many times on defense, the CPU will automatically grab your PG and take him all the way back to "defend" the hoop. Because, you know, that's the PG's job and not the centers. Because the PG is nowhere near the opponent's PG, the SF often switches over to the opposing PG, causing matchup problems. The only thing you can do is to quickly select your PG and run him out. However, this isn't always possible. It's just another in a long list of programming flaws with this game.

Where's the problem? After you finish on offense, the game will select your PG automatically. So just don't take him back too far and wait for the other PG behind the middle-stripe. Half-court man to man defense also helps. I gotta admit though, someimes it's messed up. Especially at the end of games...

how come i cant get any offensive fouls even when the cpu players are running my player over? and ive notice sometimes even when the player is inside the no charge zone you can still be called for charging? whats up with that? you get runover when you take the charge and you are called for a charge even when the cpu player is in the no charge zone.
