Yet another Off. Rebounding theory

Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:16 pm

Even though I've tested this and it works for me the majority of the time, I make no guarentees this will work for everyone.

I am convinced the rebounding sliders are messed up, but not reversed as others have suggested.

First of all, no matter what number you see in the Options/Gameplay Settings screen the rebounding sliders are not saved and revert to 50 every time you start up the game. To fix this, simply set all rebounding sliders to 50 and save your settings before shutting off the game, then set them back to what you want next time you start. I know it sucks to do this every time you play, but it does seem to work.

Secondly, the combined sum of both the Offensive and Defensive Rebounding sliders must be 100. If you have 5 Offensive and 99 Defensive(5 + 99 = 104), the computer will continue to read 50 and 50. If you have 1 Offensive and 90 Defensive(1 + 90 = 91), the computer will still read 50 and 50. I set both user and CPU to 10 Offensive and 90 Defensive(10 + 90 = 100), this seems to work best for my rosters and playstyle.

Lastly, do whatever you need to keep the number of missed shots about equal for both teams. If the CPU has a lot more missed shots it only stands to reason that it will have more Off rebounding opportunities, plus if the CPU is way behind the comeback code will kick in bigtime for rebounds.

Another option that helps, but it is unreasonable to expect all players to resort to, is editing all the players in the game. With rebounding slanted the way it is, having players with 90+ Off rebounding ratings just isn't a good idea.

Pretty impressive. One question though: How the hell did you come up with that theory? I mean, did you just guess like "Hm, that COULD be how it works" or what?

If your theory is true, I think lots of live players owe you one, dude. (Y)

I don't think this is true, I know a lot of people (including myself) who play with 1 Offensive Rebounding and 99 Defensive and this does not solve the problem. I'm still grabbing nearly 10 Offensive boards a game, the CPU even more.

Well as I edited the player ratings by myself, no player has a better off. reb. rating than 60.

Works quite well for me !

Interesting theory, OldFoolStyle, I'll perhaps try that out today. I'll report my findings and maybe some stats. ;)

To justiy your theory pls. post you boxscore or game result,, though Im always find a ways in order to limit the Cpu from getting OR..

I use the 1/99 settings that playmakers sliders have and it works just fine for me. I'm not sure if this was the reason why but I"ve been using that setting for ever with his sliders.

I'll try it out with other sliders. I use a modified version of Andrew's sliders and the rebounding is still messed up with 99/1
