How's my 2008-2009 Lakers roster?

Wed May 31, 2006 5:17 pm

C - Kwame Brown [$8 mil]
PF - Lamar Odom [$14 mil]
SF - Danny Granger [$2 mil]
SG - Kobe Bryant [$21 mil]
PG - Raymond Felton [$4 mil]

PF - Brian Cook [3 mil]
SF - Luke Walton [3 mil]
PG - Reynaldo Parton [computer, good passer (passing rate 90), 2nd year] [1 mil]
C - Andrew Bynum [2 mil]
SG - Michael Finley [I resigned him for $6/yr because I couldn't find any swingman] [6 mil, expiring]
PF - George Day [computer, rookie] [600k]
C - Alonzo Mourning [expiring] [5 mil, expiring]
PG - Tony Delk [veteran's minimum] [1.1 mil]
PF - Terry Steele [computer, average shooting, rookie] [600k]

it's around $24 mil over the cap, it suddenly rose since last season from around $5 mil over because of some resignings.

After this season, I get about $12 cap space, but have to resign Granger, Felton, Odom, and Bynum.

How's my team?

Looks pretty good. Great starting 5 and a solid bench. But why is Felton your starting PG if you have a 90 rated player as well?

Wed May 31, 2006 6:35 pm

i think he means is passing rating is 90.

Wed May 31, 2006 6:45 pm

Oh I misread that, my bad. No wonder then

Wed May 31, 2006 7:28 pm

Yea.. the passing rate is 90 as rookie.. I didn't check it this season, but I think it's improved..

Oh, btw I resigned Kwame [now 26 yrs old] to $64/6 yrs deal.. [its about $8 mil / year].. do you think that was a right move?

I resigned Finley for $6 one year, but I kind of regret, though he's expiring.

Don't you think it's hard to expect how much of money players will ask? I thought Finley would ask around $2.5 mil and Jimmy Jackson asked around $4 mil when offseason came and he was like 37 years old.

Kind of surprised, Kwame only asked for $8 mil/year [he was like getting around same before] He's putting 10 and 8 this season in 20 minutes game.

I don't know how much Odom will ask next offseason.. hopefully around $30 mil / 3 years since he will be 30 next years... he's getting $14 mil this year.

I'm really anticipating to see how much Kobe will ask once his contract ends in 3 seasons. He will be 33.

if kwames only putting up 10 and 8, hes not worth 64 million.

i think kobe will ask for something like 120 mil over 6 years.

I like your lineup. Good starting five and balanced bench (Y)

Kwame's putting 10 and 8 in 20 minutes game.. and he plays around 15 minutes [I put fatigue level to 50 in superstar model. Guys like Kobe could go full 5 minutes [per quarter] w/o being tired.

I usually score around 60-70 ish. Kobe is usually highest with 18-25 points with 5 assists.. is Kwame's contract still not worth 64 mil? Odom usually puts around 10-15 points. He's like 3rd option. Kwame will be getting $8.05 for 6 yrs.. [all same]

Kobe 120 mil / 6 yrs.. wow that's crazy.. :!: :!:
He's already starting to decline. He lost his defensive ability thing. Has no 'hand' sign around him when I'm on defensive end.

I was thinking around $7-10 mil per year until he retires.

Maybe you should involve him in a trade for a younger star. I'm sure a couple of teams would go for this. But in sense of realism: Kobe was a laker and will retire as a laker.

Wed May 31, 2006 8:45 pm

Yup. I won't trade Kobe.. just saying that 120 mil/6yrs is kind of big money to offer to someone who will be 33 yrs old. As long as I could sign him for less than $10 mil, I could possibly pick up good swingman to back him up.

can you tell me Granger's rating?and how you got him

Thu Jun 01, 2006 1:55 pm

somehow get rid of kwame for a good shotblocking centre and I think your set (unless Kwame in 06 already has a good block rating). Or maybe start Zo and use Kwame as trade bait to get a decent backup C. Great lineup anyways (Y) .

When I got him it was 70. I had him for 1 1/2 seasons. He is now 74. He was very hard to get, even if I offered better rated [like 75] player for him. I guess Pacers didn't wanted to trade. I think I offered two mid 60 rated rookies for him. I got ripped off, but I wanted him badly.. so yea. It took me 2 seasons though to make that decisions.

Try offer a player playing the position that Indiana seeks the most and the player should be better than Granger.. IMO.

Parton, Walton has made really big improvements. When I drafted Parton 2 seasons ago, he was 66. Walton, I believe was around 64. Parton jumped 4 ratings this off seasons and 4 the previous. Guys like Kobe, Finley, and Mourning are beginning to decline.

Starting 5
Kwame 74
Odom 84
Granger 74
Kobe 95
Felton 78

Bench
Cook 69
Walton 71
Parton 74
Bynum 68
Finley 74
Day 70
Mourning 68

IR
Delk 60
Steele 66

I think Kwame's pretty good. He has 1-2 blocks in 20 minutes game [I play him around 15 minutes]

I'm running 9 man rotations [up till Bynum] just to make the game bit interesting. I only go to Finley and ZO when I'm losing big times.

my line up last year used to be:

C-Bynum [he's pretty decent blocker with size.. he has grown inch this season]
PF-Kwame
SF-Odom
SG-Kobe
PG-Felton

but I'm bringing Bynum off the bench this season because he'll be F/A.. trying to get him cheap since he'll probably can play at least 15 more seasons. But even as starting, I didn't give him that many minutes. But he's consistenly increased his rating by 2 per seasons.
