trading draft picks dbf style

Postby Christopherson on Fri May 26, 2006 8:41 am

I was wondering if anyone knew how to trade draft picks dbf style. I am trying to get a few extra picks for the upcomming draft so I can use them with OleEnglish's .bat he is working on. The CPU just wont accept a decent trade involving a draft pick, so I was going to try and force one though. Anyways, if anyone could help me figure out how to do this via dbf, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Make sure you make a backup before trying any of this.

Edit the dbf so that you have control of the team you wish to gain picks from, go into the game and offer the trade. Save the Dynasty, exit the game and switch control for that team back to CPU. Start the game, load the Dynasty and accept the trade.

I'm not sure if that will work but it's the best method that comes to mind.

How do you edit the dbf so that you are in controll of a different team, I assume its somewhere in the teams.dbf??? It's the ISHUMAN column right? I just need to switch the team I'm using to F and the team I want to trade with to T, correct?

Yeah, that sounds about right.

That's correct, but I'd try leaving the original team's ISHUMAN value as True as well so you're controlling both teams when you offer the trade and then back to only one afterwards.

Aren't draft pick located in franchise.dat and you have to do HEX editing to do it? There's a thread about it in dynasty issues.

Yeah, but I think this method works just the same. However, if you want to get many teams' draft picks you should use franchise.dat file and edit it.

Correct, but since baldus was looking for an alternate way of doing it (ie through dbf editing) that's the best option as far as I can see.

Well, I've tried and haven't been able to get it to work. I propse the trade and everything, but then nothing happens. I dont get an email on the PDA that I love oh so much. Maybe I should try the hex editing. I've never done it before. How difficult is it?
