Codebase error

Postby Christopherson on Thu Apr 27, 2006 6:57 pm

So get this, whenever I play a dynasty or season, when I start to simulate day one of the season schedule, the game crashes and a get a codebase error, with something about a problem with "team = 5 tradable <>" but the team number changes from time to time. I reinstalled, deleted everything, and when I reinstalled, I put in v1.08 of Andrew's rosters, created an Adam Morrison, and had the same problem. But get this, I only saved Morrison to the uninjured version of the rosters and that is the one that wont work. If I use the NLSC0506 roser without my CAP, then it works fine. Help Please!!!???!!!

You get the error because when you added Morrison to the database, you corrupted the files at the same time. What program are you using to edit the .dbf's?

Excel has a habit of corrupting the files since it's very easy to save it incorrectly. I prefer to steer clear of it and use DB Commander.

As we said, it's likely a corrupt file. A common cause is using Excel to edit the dbfs. Once the file has been ruined you'll just have to start again. If you're playing a Dynasty and the problem is in one of the files that doesn't contain any season data (coaches.dbf, teamgear.dbf to name a couple) you can just replace the file with the one found in originaldb.

I have a the same error.. message reads:

Error#: -70
Error#: 91102
Reading File
dfile4...0
APPEARANCE

I duplicated players from the legends roster and assigned the duplicates to my created team and changed their team code accordingly, changed their jersey numbers, and sorted them 0-11 for the roster. All the duplicates have their own unique player ID as well.

Do all of the players have a valid entry in appearance.dbf? If not, that would be where the problem lies. If so, then there's a corruption in the appearance.dbf file and you'll need to start again.

Yeah, I realized that after I was viewing the .dbf file names... then saw "appearance". No mention of it was in the tutorial but it did make sense. No more 'code error', but now i'm back to the same boat. The game plays fine except for when I try to use my custom team for any excercise.. it crashes to desktop.

I am using a .viv file also that was created by an expert (not me). I think it MIGHT be attributed to me copying existing players and changing their information, instead of just giving them a new team. I am only guessing here but for example:

In the legends update, theres I think 3 different Jordans. Instead of me taking one of those 3, and changing his TEAMID, I copied and added the record, and changed the TEAMID, PLAYERID (appearance.dbf), and now theres 4 Jordans.

Since the original poster of this topic created Adam Morrison, I wonder if my doing the same thing for my entire 12 roster members did the same.
