Adding players to a season in progress

Fri Mar 10, 2006 4:36 am

Hi Andrew, hi everyone,

I'm using updated rosters v. 1.03 in my running season doing most of the updates i.e. player-ratings, transactions by myself. I reached the point when the Rockets signed Chuck Hayes for the remainder of the season. Unfortunately Hayes isn't in version 1.03 and I just wanted to know if it is possible to add him to the Rockets roster via DBF editing.

I just downloaded your current roster and tried to copy the data from your current players.dbf & appearance.dbf of C.Hayes to my one but it caused a codebase error.

Well, I don't really know if that's possible at all. So if someone has figured out how to carry it off it would be kind to let me know.

Thx for any kind of help !

If you add him manually through DB Commander to players.dbf and appearance.dbf, it might work. But make sure you've got a back up of your season first.

To add a new row in DB Commander, just scroll to the bottom and press the Down arrow key. It helps if you open up a copy of the latest roster in the right hand panel so you can just copy the values across. When assigning IDs however, make sure it's the next available ID number.

Gonna give it a second try allthough I'm not really confident of getting that thing to work. You know, since I once messed up with players.dbf (that A.McKie thing you may remember) I always back up season data before using DB Commander.

Well, the procedure you described was the way I've tried to add Hayes first and it led to that codebase error though I'm not sure if I really hit the right playerID.

It might be a little more difficult than I thought but I hope I'll get this guy in my game...

Thanks for the latest

Might be a little difficult for a created player, especially in appearance.dbf. Good luck with it. :)
