Postby pistons_alltheway on Sun Mar 05, 2006 2:42 am

I always read about all you guys talking about primacy ratings but when i go to find the primacy on my game there isnt an option for it. how do i adjust the primacy myself?

Primacy is a hidden attribute, and in order to edit it, you must edit the dbf's.

Another name for it could be Ball-Hog. Basically, the higher the number, the more the player will demand the ball, so the more shots he will take.

For example, Kobe has a primacy of 99, whereas Greg Ostertag would have something around 5.

And I'm going to see them in Toronto!

I'm sure this has been explained more than a couple of times...but anyway...

Primacy determines how many points a player is likely to score in simulation (in conjunction with the shooting/offensive awareness ratings) by establishing a player's place in the pecking order. A player with a Primacy rating of 99 will be the number one option while a player with a Primacy of 50 isn't going to get as many shots.

The same goes for actual gameplay. The players with the higher Primacy tend to take the most shots...at least in theory. It doesn't always work out that way.

when you create a player i assume its based on his overall rating, correct?

i.e. if you create a 99 ovrl player, the pc will put his primacy at 99, and if you make a 66 ovrl player his primacy will be around 55 or 60?

i always thought it was a combination of his shooting/dunking stats and off aware, not sure though...

It's based on his offensive ratings, yes.

I think its about how injury prone you are. 99 = Karl Malone. I saw someone write that before.

Correct. Players with higher Hardiness won't get injured as often in simulation or gameplay.

By the way, questions about ratings are answered in the DBF Editing Guide. I believe Tempo explained them both in a sticky that can be found in this section of the Forum as well.

Primacy doesn't work

Postby dozgod on Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:48 am

I download latest rosters by andrew and Chauncy Billups takes 48 shots and scores 63 points on me in 7 min quarter, starter wtf is up with that? his primacy is only 49. So why he take all the shots for the computer?

Primacy doesn't work as well as it should, especially for point guards. I've never seen Billups do that though, I played against the Pistons a couple of days ago. But with the rosters, unfortunately we're limited by the problems with Primacy.

Primacy gets toilet-bowled if a player gets injured, I've never seen a player recover his primacy rating after suffering an injury. So suddenly T-Mac's got a primacy of 15 and Rafer Alston is the second-leading scorer, etc. I've turned simulation injuries off because it's too irritating.

Agreed, it's one of the most frustrating bugs in the game as well as a downer when working on the roster updates. No matter how well I can get the averages to work out with simulation injuries off, injuries will mess everything up. If you're playing on the PC version you can make manual corrections of course. I've got a list of Primacy Fixes that's included in the roster update (as well as posted in the Dynasty Issues section of the forum) with some of the more prominent players whose Primacy tends to get messed up a lot.

Eh, the roster updates are fine (though I wish you'd add guys like Glen Rice and so forth into the Legends section).

What would be nice is if the computer kept the lineups you put out there instead of adjusting based on raw ratings value. DeSagana Diop doesn't stay a starter unless you make him a higher rating than Dampier, for example.

I've added some legends already, glen's given me permission to use his faces so I can always add Rice if you like. (Y)

Definitely agree on the automatic reordering. But what I was saying before is that it's frustrating working on the rosters knowing any work I do on the Primacy ratings will be messed up by that bug and there's nothing I can do about that.

It's a hidden rating, so it's not accessible in the console versions.

No, it's not Offensive Awareness. It's a seperate rating that's hidden on all versions of the game this year and cannot be accessed on the console.

Yeah, you know that roster patch where you made each team composed of the best players from that team? All those guys, I want to see all of them in the Legends section.

That was a while ago. If I can get the cyberfaces for more former greats, I'll definitely add them to the Legends Pool.

That'd be awesome but the guys in that roster patch would be sufficient.

EDIT - And when I say "sufficient" I mean "frikkin' amazing!"

does primacy only affect simulated games or does it also has an effect when you're playing against cpu?
