Dont know how to slam Dunk

I am using a Logitech Dual Gamepad with my PC. I am having problems dunking. I press a button on the ground to start the move but he never completes the move. When he starts the move, I press another button for the type of dunk but he doesnt get off the air. What is the right way to perform a dunk? Any help would be appreciated!

There's a slam dunk school in the game, just go in there and practice.
But the basics of it is that you push a button for a specific take off, and then you hold a button for a certain dunk. There's a lot of timing in it, but practice makes almost perfect...
