After months of playing Live....ur reviews?

Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:47 pm

1 wow is all i can say, while the graphics( i really dont give a shit bout) are better then 2005, the gameplay is KILLING ME, its the most realist shit out there

2.the playbooks incorporated into the game is fucking crazy, thanks to playmakers thread, i have assigned all teams to their real life playbooks and CPU play is AWESOME, way better then any bball game i ever played

3. Rebounding is never a problem for me, except when i play the fucking Bobcats(Okafor),Clippers(Brand) other then that, i get very few offensive rebounding and so does CPU

4. FSS is innovative, nothing comes close to dis

Good Job EA for making this game , its gameplay is very underrated by these so called pro reviewers, but i feel like EA really listened to my gripes about the game and made it better, im a sim player and im getting very sim results, with my team shooting 45.3% and 36.9% from downtown, im pleased

I like 06...thats my review. Did you like it?

Yes..but if they have more shooting styles or they can bring those styles in 3pt competition that wou;d have make this game more enjoyable definitely..

might will get bored of this game like one more month

I like the game, but it needs patches.
I like it so much that I might buy it.
Rebounding is fine now that I bring a guard/forward to help around the basket.

Blocking is better than ever. I used to be able to own jumpshooters in previous lives, now I rarely block a jumpshooter.

Freestyle superstar is a great concept, however there are semi-superstars in the NBA and I believe they should have different levels to the freestyle thing to account for them, i.e. "freestyle all-star" or "freestyle pro".

I really enjoy the new plays, but I also miss the old ones.

Stealing passes is way too easy, but only because telegraphing the cpu's pass is too easy. Maybe some kind of passing AI for the CPU could make them abit smarter about their pass decisions. The freestyle stopper animations are awesome.

Overall the game is just fun!!

Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:42 am

game is shit . gameplay is very very very big shit .
q: how many bugs we counted ?
a: million-gazillion ...

but i like the dynasty ,you know all that stuff like buying coaches ,trainers ... players become superstars and etc.

but however i unistalled the game month ago .

Hey - can you post instructions on where to get the latest playbook files and where exactly to put them (which folder). right now, as you know, all defensive quickplays are the same for all of the teams....you have to manually change them, do the files permanently change them?

it owns.

Well i like the game......but

I would really like to play a whole season 12 min quarters on superstar, but it is impossible to do with realistic stats, no matter how i will adjust the sliders it is just unreal. Lowering shooting increases rebounding to 70 rebounds per game with offensive rebounding set to 0, if i have an outside stoper i can have stealing set to 0 and still make 15 steals per game with him. These are just a couple of examples and people who tell not to use some feature cause it is buggy please do not offer that cause i do not want to play bball not doing this and that - it aint fun.
Finished one season with Cavs 10 min quarters just to complete a season, averaged 130 points and 20 steals per game just with James and Hughes

i play 12mins on superstar wit the Nets, and my stats are very realistic, maybe u should play ur bench more just like in real life, star players get subbed too

Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:20 am

i like it, no probs all good-8.8/10

Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:22 am

Just plain amazing 10/10 no questions asked period.

Tue Jan 03, 2006 9:21 am

From what I've heard a lot of things people didn't like bout 05 are not that much improved. It still too easily turns into a break and score fest.

Could be a solution if in my 40 minute games with the cavs James and Hughes would have not averaged just about 28 minutes, in real life such players play 40-45 mins a game. Of course if i play bench players more time i would score maybe 10-15 points less which still would be unrealistic, and finaly i like playing starters not benchmen:)

Wed Jan 04, 2006 5:57 am

fun: 8/10

gameplay realistic: 3/10

gameplay: 7/10

NBA stats: 4/10

level of standard compare to other similar games in the market: 8/10

Wed Jan 04, 2006 6:01 am

It's good if I put effort into playing it. Plus it's the only basketball game for PC this year.

But every now and then there is just way too much offensive rebounds. Other stuff can be fixed with adjusting the sliders.

And the shots that will always go in are very annoying. The reverse layup for an exsample.

7/10

u got a good point, in my dynasty( i play 12mins) i use a 10man rotation dat way the scoring is balanced...i dont see the fun in making every shot with a superstar player, maybe u should try using set plays to generate some scoring rather then just driving into the paint to get an easy bucket

live 06 is a good game , but he needs a lot of modification XD , ofcourse ea sliders sux, they know that fact , thats why they add sliders settings thats what I think about this XD , original jersey looks ... weird , thx to all the jersey's patchers for their works !!
the problem is steal and interceptions are 2 easy .. I've turned down sliders to 5 and I still have a lot of interception and steal ... like pdub says cpu's telegraphing pass is too easy to catch ...take a player > look at the opponent goes near the guy who gots the ball and catch the ball in the air ... lol , only thing I hate in this game , is the air collision foul ... even if u turn sliders to 100 , referee doesn't blown the fault ... or blow a invisible fault ...

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:38 pm

I played a 58 game season. 12 min superstar. 6th season

stat problems.

bosh had a .670 shooting %. he made every layup and was able to get into the lane at will. he is a 99 rated though. because of this team % was .520. interior defense needs to be better on both sides. i lowed layup sliders to near zero now. but stupid reverse layup never misses.

blocks and steals - of course you can get many steals with hughes and james. they are two of the best. why not try a normal defender and you will be lucky to get 1 or 2 on superstar. the problem are the big men rarely get any on humna team. they don't swipe at the ball nearly enough. and i think the interception slider needs to be about 70 for human othrwise you will never get any. blocks are the same thing. the real only way you get a block is to do it yourself. once in a while i now see a computer controlled guy getting a block. i have set this slider to about 70 as well to acutally see this.

everything else is great. you just need to tweak the sliders for your team. if your team is built upon outside shooting it is not reasonable to set these sliders so low. guys like ray allen and peja don't shoot in the 30 %s. you should be able to tweak the sliders to make a good game of it. but if you have a guy like bosh or james or any other 99 rated guy it is just too easy to score.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:45 pm

If you don't like that it works every time then don't do it.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 3:10 pm

what do you mean? don't try and score with my best player or don't have a player that good on my team? i chose the later. i traded bosh, mvp, for 2 lesser players.

also, one thing i noticed in season 8. there are no computer generated players in the 90s. not one. the highest is 85. you would think that one guy (aka lebron) would be a superstar in that span.

So you want realistic stats without playing realistic basketball, or playing a realistic rotation of 8-9 players...

...?

Sounds like you've made your bed of gripe, and now you either have to sleep in it or change a few things. We can peg a lot of things on EA, but not that.

My review...ummmm...

The thing that makes NBA Live good for me is this forum. I could not play this game if there werent all those awesome patches floating around. I would probably be playing FIFA Manager or something.

What I like the most...

Playing as point guard on player lock.

What I hate the most...

No matter how I adjust the sliders I get Eddy Curry-like rebounding numbers.

Overall game- 7.5/10
Gameplay- 7/10

Thu Jan 05, 2006 4:59 pm

- rebounding sucks, it should work at 50-50 not 0-100 and im sticking with that

- the stupid adjust shot into the backboard shits me up the wall

-SF walking to pass the ball in to wait for some dickhead to finish waving his armos around also shits me

- FSS is awesome, great fun to use

- Needs to be more trades offered, with bigger name players

- Created rookies need to be superstars, not all of them, but some of them HAVE to become great, instead of just being rated in the 80's. think about now, there is 15+ players (at least) rated in the 90's or high 80's, and if you sim your dynasty through, the highest rated rookies are around 85, and there is only 2 or 3 in the league. its crap.
