Difficulty

Postby xargy on Tue Dec 20, 2005 1:57 pm

I have come to a place where I master all the different difficulties in this game. And I don't mean to be cocky, but even superstar isn't a challenge for me. I tried once against San Antonio Spurs to give them a twenty point lead early in the game, just to bring some suspense into the game again, but that wasn't a challenge either. I have adjusted the sliders, so they are equal to me an the CPU, but that didn't do it either. And I feel it's wrong to give away thirty to fourty points in the beginning of every match just to bring in some suspense to the game again. So I ask if anyone here knows of some tricks to add to the game to make it harder. I know that I can choose a team without any superstars, but I want to at least have one superstar in my team, because that adds a bit variability to the game.

Play Superstar, but only 2-3min qrt. I mean once you opponent leads by 5, teh games kidna over because you're running out of time really quickly.

Why not adjust the sliders so the computer's are better than yours? That's a very simple solution. Check what stats you're dominating the cpu in, and decrease yours and increase yours, until it's more realistic. There's no way to 'master' the game, unless you have the CPU on 100 everything and Human on 0 everything. That's the beauty of the sliders. No need for giving up early leads. That's just silly.

in addition to the sliders, maybe pause after the tip, switch the controller to the cpu team and increase the pressure on your players and/or set double team to yes on your stars or all your players.

try decreasing game speed if you can stand it, slower gameplay can make it more of a strategy game than an ability game. and as for the sliders in general, lowering some like steals and interceptions can make you play with more timing than just anticipating the next cpu blunder.

anything that you might find that takes away from being able to exploit the cpu should make it more competitive, but with the risk of losing some of what gives you the fun factor.

i suggest u stop exploiting the CPU, if u find a money play , dont execute it as much cuz wuts the point in winning by 40pts by using the same play? be more of a sim player and use a balanced attack, rather than say holding the L trigger

try playing with people to test your abilities. you may also want to try changing the gamespeed for a little different feel. try 90-100.

I agree with jwin. Playing a couple of quarters as your opponent should create a bit of back and forth as well as adding the challenge of a comeback, first as you assume control of your opponent then as you try to beat them after switching back. Folks have been using that one since NBA Live 95. :)

Adjusting the sliders is also a good idea. Even though most of us use them primarily to make the game play realistically they're also there to work alongside the difficulty levels in making the game easier or more challenging. Give the CPU an unfair advantage and it should make the games more interesting.

So he did. See what happens when you offer to work six day weeks when someone goes on holidays? Start seeing things that aren't there...

Anyway, my advice still stands. You can always try playing part of the game as your opponent to rack up a big lead then play the comeback game in the fourth.

if there are any programmers or coders around it might be possible to create programs that will go beyond what the ingame sliders can do, or at least to give some boost or decrease to the effects.

madden was impossible to edit just last year, and now there are editors that will allow you to set how often just the quarterback gets injured in a game, have more fumbles, increase the effects of fatigue, they've even unlocked features of the pc version that were not made available by ea, and created a feature that lets you run your draft outside of the game, import draft classes, and adjust the trades made during the draft.

with live being much more open maybe someone could come up with an outside editor that could make it more challenging without losing the fun parts of it.
