shooting range in players.dbf

Sun Dec 18, 2005 11:11 pm

for all u people out there who've experimented with players.dbf, have u guys tried changing the shooting range? i think its the DSHOOTRANG... well do you guys know Arvydas Macijauskas? im pretty sure hes recognised as one of the best shooters in the world and hes on the Hornets roster this season.
well just for a bit of fun, i changed his Field Goal, 3PT, Free Throw, and Offensive Awareness to 99...and before i started playing my dynasty, i experimented by simming a few games first in dynasty mode to make sure players were producing as they should be, but i had Brad Miller lead the league in PPG :? and Iverson and Kobe scoring between 10-20ppg...
so after reading abt Primacy and its effect on these message boards, i went ahead and started editing in the players.dbf and sure enough i found some stuff that explained the weird stats...i think brad miller had primacy in the 90s, while AI and kobe were in the 60s...steve nash was also pretty high, in the 70s or 80s i think, while amare stoudemire was in the 50s, which explained why many of u get nash averaging 25ppg while amares at 17ppg or so....
well i fixed all these for each and every player, and then came across the DSHOOTRANG... i figured since i made Macijauskas shooting stats all 99, id change his range as well, and so i made it 50 (the maximum default range is 25). i then went ahead and tested it during gameplay and what i found was quite amazing...
using DEFAULT SLIDERS, i was able to drain 9/17 shots from mid-court using SUPERSTAR FREESTYLE SHOOTER moves in the first quarter using macijauskas only. i tried using peja stojakovic to do this but he went 0/10 from half-court as i hadnt changed his player stats or his range... i shot with majiauskas from the top of the opposite 3pt line (i think thats abt 70ft) afterwards and managed to make 1 shot out of abt 15, air-balling most of them. im guessing the game has some in-built thing where no matter how good the shooter, shooting from that far back in back-court will result in air-balls almost all the time, as we see happen for buzzer-beaters
well what im getting at is could some1 try this out please and post what they find...just change the shooting range for one player to about 50 or more if u wish and shoot at least 10 shots from half court...btw by half-court i mean close to or in the circle where jump-ball takes place...and also i managed to drain a few of the BANK shots as well from this distance while FADING away
