Few questions

Postby DesrtHawk on Thu Dec 15, 2005 3:12 am

Hey, I'm new here as I'm new for NBA06(and NBA at all).
Last live game I played was nba live98 and it hadn't any dynasty, so I have few questions for it.

1. How I can sign/trade players? I get always msg saying that I don't have salary cap. How I can make it more? Maybe with editing dbf file?

2. I have coach Off- A, Deff- C, Ath- A and I'm trying to develop my players. I have played several dynasties and tried to give the coach to work on something he good in it for 8 weeks, but my player hasn't improved at all. What should be done to develop my team?

3. This question is less for dynasty and more for gameplay, but I don't want to open new topic. When I'm playing, sometimes I'm trying to make block, but I get foul. In the replay I don't see anything bad that the player did(he hasn't touched the ball or the player). Is it only me, and if not(or yes) is there way to fix it?

Thx in advance :)

P.S. Another question, not for dynasty too, How can I add/change school name?
Thx

1. Basically you need to satisfy the rules of the salary cap. If you're over the cap the value of the contracts you are trading must be equal or no larger than 120% of each other. In other words, if you're trading $5million worth of contracts, the other team must not be trading more than $6million. If you're trading $11.7million, the other team can only trade up to $14.04 million. And vice versa.

To free up cap space, you can do a few things:

a) Wait until the end of the year for players with expiring contracts to become free agents; don't re-sign them or sign them to smaller deals

b) Same as above, but trade some of your unwanted players for players with expiring contracts first so you can free up more space.

c) Make trades with teams that do have cap room, unloading larger contracts reducing your payroll. Obviously this method is much easier if you're only slightly over the cap. It usually doesn't work in a fantasy draft Dynasty.

2. Players develop according to a hidden attribute called "Destiny". Players also have a Work Ethic rating this year which is also hidden. Some players are very difficult to develop. Constant one-on-one training sessions does help. It also helps if your assistant coach specialises in the area a player needs to improve in or the position he plays.

3. It's basically an animation problem. Sometimes the replays don't show contact very well.

Thank you for answer Andrew (Y)
But now I have some more questions :P

You said to make one on one training session, do you mean to the one in game mods? If yes, how to insert his improvments to dynasty? If no, what exctly you mean?

And about the last question, about school, someone know how to do it?

Thx

I don't know about your other question, but to change/add school I guess you should edit the school.dbf (kinda obvious :P ).

I thought about this, but there are only numbers and not text :(
Thx anyway :)
I'll try to search more at game files, if not, I'll post in patching issues.

My coach seems to give me an update on player improvement every 2 weeks at least. At the end of each month, he will have a number of updates. Your coach looks quite good, so he should be doing well in coaching. Maybe you can focus on one aspect of training at one time. I usually train my players at one aspect each week (e.g. offensive 100% in week 1, defensive 100% in week 2, athletics 100% in week 3). It seems to yield better results than if I try something like offensive-40%, defensive-30%, athletics-30% for 3 weeks...

AIx2, Yeh, I'm giving him only one thing to do, but he still don't want to improve the players. But I recive email from him, that he trained the players and they improved(when he pick for training random players).

Maybe created player improve very very very slow?

i think its best to ignore all the emails from the coach, the little improvement that might happen isnt worth worrying about.

Sorry, I meant assigning the assistant coaches to specific players in addition to the regular team training. That usually increases a player's chance of developing.

Thanks for the reply, still can't develop anyone :(
I'm giving now 2 weeks training for every player, with 100% on one thing.
Maybe next month it will improve one of them :|

From what i experience i think that for one week you train a Person A, next week Person B, another week Person C, the last week Person D

At THE END OF THE MONTH, these players A, B ,C ,D will improve. (when ya sim the last day of da month, you will get A, B, C, D improvement mail.)
