Using Freestyle Playmakers Effectively

Postby jverdes on Tue Nov 15, 2005 7:35 am

I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time utilizing the playmakers abilities. Sure, the passes look cool, but most of the time I use their moves, the passes get intercepted or it bounces off of someone and either goes out of bounds or results in a turnover.

My question is, how can you really make the best use out of these playmakers? Can you control who you want them to pass it to? I've pretty much mastered every other type of superstar but the playmaker is still a bit tricky to me. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

Thanks!

It seems like it's mostly for show to me. But it's fun on the fast break. You have to know when someone is open just like any normal pass, otherwise it'll get deflected or intercepted...

As far as I know, you can't control who receives the pass, it just appears to be the closest teammate.

I don't know how to do the between-the-legs backward pass on the break or a few of the other moves. Any clue?

actualy its not alll show, when a guy is posting up down low, i do the fancy bounce pass and the guys covering him will try and dive for it the other way everynow and then, leaving my post wide open... and you can pass to any one you choose, just use the indirect pass thing, where u just point the left analog stick in the direction of the player you want the ball to go to

The chance of turning over by Playmaker PG is higher than regular PG. That's what I notice from playing lock-player mode as an SF.

What i observed was that whenever i execute the playmaker superstar move especially in a fastbreak or even in between playcalling sets if you execute it properly the receiver of the pass most often gets free and get's open. Just one of my observations.

But it's kind of cool when it get's intercepted at times when used incorrectly that way this feature wouldn't be abused too much.

Looks awesome though during fast break opportunities. I always check the replay for the those great passes (no look, fake, bounce pass).
