Offensive rebounding!

Postby nextnba on Mon Oct 24, 2005 9:39 am

K. Offensive rebounding has been extremely annoying for me now. I remember there was a thread for it but can't seem to find it so I am reposting again. I have set my slider for offensive reb. to 0 and cpu defensive reb. to 100 and my players are still getting offensive reb. like crazy. Any suggestion?

I swear EA messed up the rebounding this year. It is the only gripe I really have about this year's Live. I tried everything, boxing out, timing, etc. Yet I still can't get defensive rebounds when I'm also in the right position. I look at the replays of when I definitely should have gotten a rebound and literally saw the ball go THROUGH the hands of my guy. BTW, I'm always using Garnett to try to rebound in my franchise... So yea, I don't think there is much you can do.

This works for me: try a "box out" move by holding down right analog, then pushing it on the defender so that you can kind of move him out. Then, jump. It actually solved my problem! 8-)

I am not worrying about defensive rebound. I don't mind if computer are getting offensive reb. because I can work at blocking out and better timing my rebdounding. What's annoying is that my players are getting offensive reb. like crazy..look at the team stats...the offensive reb. almost equal to the defensive reb. Computer just sucks at defensive reb. even after setting cpu slider to 100 for defensive reb. and 0 for user offensive reb.!

i changed my sliders and now the O rebounds arent as bad, wut does piss me off is when theyre going to shoot and i try to block with my inside stopper and miss, then they miss the shot and get the offensive board, and then i try to block and again or try to get the board, they continue to get the O reb and keep tryin to tip it in, over and over... sometimes they get like 8 offensive boards just from tip ins that missed over and over and over........

Exactily, I don't get why people gripe about offensive rebounding, its rediculous! If you don't want so many offensive rebounds, Then stop jumping up for it! Run down and play defense!

re rate the off rebounding for all the players using the dbf editor to xls converter. Very easy to do and really cuts down on off rebounding to average numbers.

Tim..that statement is just stupid...that's like saying, well, why is everyone complaining about high fg %, why don't they just shoot it from the half court and will bring fg% down! Plus, it's not me that's getting the offensive rebound, it's my team mates, they're rebounding like crazy!

Daniel, please explain more about what you said. I tried decreasing players' offensive reb. rating down..to as much as 0. I was testing it with the Lakers and down K. Brown's offensieve reb. to 0 and he still grabbed 7 offensive reb. in the first half! Am I the only one that is experiencing this problem or is no one just aware of this?

There's something to gripe when your own CPU teammates grab the offensive rebounds that's out of your control, or if your CPU opponent grabs offensive rebounds when you can't even grab a single defensive rebound if your life depended on it.

I think I found a solution to cut offensive rebounds on your opponents stats.

One of your defenses has to be a Shifting 2-3 Zone. Play man to man or whatever else you want to play, but as soon as the ball is in the air for the shot or penetration happens, change to the 2-3 "Shifting" Zone. The Bigs pretty much collapse on the ball.

I'm still experimenting but so far this works best. Would appreciate hearing your test results.

My next experiment will be to "increase" my offensive rebounds by calling an offensive play that moves everybody under the basket as I prepare to shoot! Last year I used to call motion offense to get that result right before I took a long range shot.

TEH Thing is, Those doesn't matter. I do get less Offensive Rebound than Defensive, and I always get more Total Rebounds than the Computer "IN GAME".
But, The Offensive Reb problem is Ruining my DYNASTY, because the Sim games get more Rebounds than regular games (the one that I play vs com and get more Rebs everytime).

I want my players to be MVP and shit, but they just have less Rebs than others when comparing in Player stats.

I have been annoyed with the offensive rebounding as well. The other night Dirk smoked me with offensive rebounds. Pissed me off pretty bad, but it has gotten better the more I play, and get more aquainted with the controls.

Offensive Rebouns was very very low in Nba Live 05 and it is totally different in Nba Live 06. EA can't get anything right.

believe me guys EA knows about all these bugs and glitches. Because they musta played the game way before us and such and knew about it they just didn't care to fix anything because they wanna have the excuse that they fixed something in Nba Live 07. We play the game for few days and we all know about it, they played the game for months before the final copy and pretend not knowing shit about it I DON'T BELIEVE SO! it's very logical they don't want to get rid of all these bugs because if they do when what is it next on the list to get fixed? get it? got it? yeah

Its the way you play, I still stick to that story. If your so used to playing 05, then go play the damn game... this is idiotic... 06, forget everything you used in 05, and try to learn how to play 06. Even the stock sliders are fine... Its just newbies and idiots that complain about offensive rebounding, it means your doing something wrong! not the game! Get used to it. If you want a realistic game, grab a ball and go to the court dammit!

HAHAHA!!! C! that wasn't so bad! joke only....

Well ya, the offensive rebounding is kinda shot... but that's the game, instead of gripping about it, adjust to it.. what team are you using? Please let the whole NLSC know, what the hell team can you use where your CPU teammates always offensive rebound for you? I will switch my team to that! I will use that in my next tournament and use that to gamble! All I have to do is sit at the three line and wait for my "CPU Team mate" (yeah right) to offensive rebound then pass it out?!!!! Damnnn... I want that team!!! What team is that? from all the rosters I checked, there is no such team that can do that? who the hell has enough awareness and rebound ratings at the Center and powerforward position for the CPU controlled team member to get lots of offensive rebounds?

Please get back to me! I want to use your team then challenge everyone out there!

Ok first... Are you playing on superstar?

just to clearify... hehe... What is your FG%? If you miss so many shots for you to get that many offensive rebounds...

your not doing something right,, miss too many times? offensive rebounds? darn...

The rebound issue ****ed me too, but hey, two days ago I finally learned to time my jumping and start it not so close to the basket and it's not bothering me any longer... Now at least my Def Rebounding is better than the COM Off Reb, not "realistic" but fine. Last game I got: OFF/DEFF 9/23 and the computer 10/17 in a 5 min/quarter set.

See, maybe EA actually tried to make it so that you don't win by 30 every game. Maybe you have to learn to play defense and box out.

I agree the offensive rebounding is kind of jacked, but you can play around it, it just takes some practice.
