Dribble

I got this game this week, and I'm really hooked. Have learned all the different superstar moves. So I'm getting into it. But there's still a whole lot to improve, especially dribbling. How can I make this more effective? Right now I'm just holding down the dribble button and swing my right analog, and it seems like the player moves on his own free will.

Would be great if someone could give me some tips on how to handle some fancy moves.
