Widescreen resolution or custom resolutions

Postby WalleO on Fri Sep 30, 2005 11:27 am

Please is there a way anyone can hack the exe to allow custom resolution? i have a widescreen monitor and playing live on it looks soo weird it discourages me from playing. it looks like the player are Squashed. Please can anyone make the game allow resolutions of 1680*1050? thank you

you could play around with the target name in properties. ex maybe ''target name Resolution=1680x1050'' it worked with me before just play around with it.

you could probably find a tut on the web.what you have to edit is the icon on the desktop and right click the icon and go to properties. then go to the target and follow what i said

I'm interested too. What exactly would you put in the target box? I need a 1680x1050 resolution.

So if my native resolution is 1280x1024, I can still try playing Live on 1600x1200?

It worked for me in Fifa maybe it will work in NBA too
Press on your shortcut on desktop and press properties and add Resolution=1680x1050 to your target line
e.x "C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 06\nbalive06.exe" Resolution=1680x1050

though that solution seems to be able to work with other games. infact it may even work on live if the intros could be moved so they wont be promted for. But for now, unfortunately, this method crashes the game before it even loads. thanks for your help though

No. it doesnt work. the reason you think it works is probably because you misspelt a word or spaced the words wrong. i've tried it spacing out the works and my game wont crash but its definately not 1680*1050. the quality looks the same as 1280*1024. if you try to copy and paste exactly as panco has it written, (which is the right way) it would crash your game :?

Well there has to be some kind of console or configuration file, or the game wouldn't know your settings. So then you could add a resolution there.

Dunno, my game doesn't crash...
Maybe yours crash because the installation folder is not C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 06...
I dunno if my game is running 1600x1050 but it looks better than when I was running it 1024x768.

I think Little Big Man was saying he has his resolution settings on 1600 x 1050.. so it is possible. im tryin to figure this out myself but this method definitely doesnt do anything..

i tried both. 1600 x 1050 -which doesnt exist and 1680 x1050 which is the native res for most 20-21 inch LCDs. Both attempts resulted to crashes. I dont know how Da king got his to work, but im willing to bet his not running either of the above resolutions

Ive heard that the only way to make costum resolutions for EA Sports games is to input them into the exe with a hex editor, and nobody did this yet in any game except for Tiger Woods 2005.

An easy way to test is to set it to 800x600 and then look if the game looks like crap, if it does the method works if it doesent or looks the same then he method doesent do anything.

Should be the same way for 07, I don't think it works for 06 since EA used a different schema. 08 screen resolution is same as 07 screenresolution.

The 08 way was imitating the 07 way. You could use the application I did above, and rename the file back to nbalive07.exe or whatever the assembly is called and it will replace the hex automatically for you.

the solution in the thread don't work in nba live 2006... there are other solution?
