PSM give Live 8.5/10, gives ESPN 7.5/10

Here are the reviews that are being passed around in the net. These are PSM reviews on the November Issue on both games:

NBA2K6

Pros: 24/7 mode; solid commentary; loose ball fouls; TV camera, boxout command

Cons: Like last year with the Isomation button, the new Shot Stick has the same "poor-man's-Live" results, it's not as intuitive and takes several games to get the feel for it and even when you do, you still can't pull off the same breadth of moves you can in EA's offering. Animations hit-and-miss; game chooses when you dunk because they haven't adapted to the idea of one button shoots, one button dunks.

I thought when you press the agression button and the shot stick it was suppose to be a dunk?? hhmm.. that's kinda fishy but AGAIN this is one review. I will wait for gamespot's.

NBA LIVE 06
Freestylin' ain't just for BMX games

"...When you're controlling a superstar, L1 is a shift key, and combining it with a face button performs a different slick move. Better still, there are six categories-playmaker (Steve Nash), power player (Shaq), sharpshooter (Peja), etc.-and each type has unique moves. The array of jumpers, passes and dunks is awesome, and endlessly satisfying.

The rest of your team then gets involved off of your superstars, just like in the NBA. Double-team Shaq and he can kick out to Antoine for a wide-open 18-footer. That's right: Live 06 has a mid-range game. Yes!

Only a few breakdowns keep 06 from perfection. Both you and the CPU will too-often shoot balls out of bounds off the back of the glass (huh?), missed dunks and lay-ups are too frequent, and animations are a mix of awesome and atrocious. Still, a now-online All-Star Weekend, another solid franchise mode, and naturally controlling gameplay make Live a winner again."

Great find. I have high hopes for NBA Live 06 and that it will sell more than NBA 2K6.

I don't see how missed dunks and lay-ups is considered a con, since these things happen a lot in NBA games... but spotty animations and occasional AI flaws doesn't sound too good.

The missed dunks and lay-ups can be fixed with the sliders but I'm not so sure about the occasional AI flaws like Madden NFL 06.

Doesn't seem like they had full versions, because some of the stuff they said about ESPN was a little iffy, but outside of that, it wasn't in-depth.

the NBA Live review sounds almost identical to the press releases they give every now and then.

it sounds as if the people at PSM is being a bit bias, its like they told everything good about live and everything bad about 2k6, I get both games every year and would like to see a unbias review for both games.

Hey Rip32 where did you find those reviews? Also the sega sports 2k series has gone to complete crap since 2k5. I wouldnt think they were being bias at all. I LOVED 2k4 and was soo hyped to get 2k5, but was very very disappointed. Thats when I turned to Live and have been playing it since. Now you want to talk about a game that they didnt do crap to, look at 2k6.They didnt do ANYTHING new to the game really

Exactly. And it doesn't look like 2k5. You guys better watch some videos before bashing 2k.

But most of all, don't trust PSM's reviews, those guys don't have a clue of what is a basketball game, they just play a game for a couple of hours and then write the article.

NBA live is the best..I love that game so much..No one can compare Imean incomparable!!!!

I have seen the Videos of 2K6 and I was not impressed one bit! In my option it looks exactly like 2K5 which suck major balls. Live 06 didnt do ALOT of changes but it did add a few things that will inprove the series.

Features in Live 06--

1.)Freestyle superstars

2.)Al new graphics engine

3.)Add a few things to the Dynasty Mode

4.)And the all star game,dunk compition,and 3 point you can now play online against people

5.)And of course the the new animations and bug fixs


NBA 2K6 features--

1.)Shot Stick-Using the right joystick to perfromn different moves

2.)Dual player Control- setup teammates for different stuff(alley ops..etc)

3.)V.I.P system- I dont really understand what this mode is for but sounds interesting

4.)The crib- The most pointless feature

5.)24/7 Road to EBC- another pointless mode were you get to play against method man and redman and other stars.

6.)The Association- Which is pretty much like the Live dynasty mode which also features the same thang as live 06 were you can hir assistant coachs,trainers, etc.


I have seen about 4 videos of 2K6 and I have not been bought by what I have seen. The only reason I would buy the game is cause its only $20. I plan on trading in Live 05 and another game to some money off Love 06. Hopefully live 06 will be $40 dollars again like last year so I can get it for $30 like I did last year with a trade in

Everyone can have his own opinion. But I really don't understand how you can say that 2k6 doesn't look great.

I might change my mind after I actually play it, but judging only from appearence, it's a way better than Live. In fact, I can't take Live anymore, it's makes me feel a little sick.

Ok for the record, missed dunks or layups happen, but they dont happen often, i see it once every few games, not like 3 to 5 times in one game.
