played demo... not that impressed

Mon Sep 12, 2005 10:19 am

for all the people who played the demo got to feel me on this one it plays exactly like 05 not that thats bad, but it seems like that superstar freestyle was the only new addition added to the gameplay plus a lil bit of new animations. it is getting to the point were nba live is producing the same gameplay every year and is giving us control over something we could not control the year before, now if you liked nba live 05 like I did then live 06 will be worth it, but I would like to see some dramatic gameplay changes in live 07

Well what kind of dramatic gameplay changes do you want? Like FSS isn't that dramatic...They're runnin off of 10-man mo-cap which is new since Live 04, which was tons different than 03. They can't just scrap gameplay and start over every year. Then we wouldn't get hardly any new features.

You act like we're not getting anything new this year. How about EA takes care of small bugs and glitches while adding new animations and a complete new thing than scrap everything, and make brand new gameplay with just as many glitches as before.

yeah ryder, u're so right =)
i think the same

Mon Sep 12, 2005 11:45 am

pHLo, where exactly in Germany do you live??

Mon Sep 12, 2005 12:57 pm

I agree with showova. The only real addition is freestyle superstars... everyone join me in an overly sarcastic "WOW!". Take a look at "the other game" and you'll see they've also added something like freestyle superstars... along with heaps of other new improvements. Live's just riding the fact that everyone knows it and it sells well because casual fans will buy it.

I believe freestyle superstars and a better graphics system a better fast-break.. more realistic blocking, etc. makes it much better than ESPN. ESPN the shooting is still fake. Brad Miller doesn't make turn-around half-court jumpers consistently.

I don't know about more realistic blocking. Behind the back blocks are still there, and come on, how often does that happen in the NBA?

Why do you end your posts with --Stephen? It serves no point, imo.

Mon Sep 12, 2005 2:03 pm

if we really want then to completely change the game then we probably would have to skip a year or playing live...so from now we would probly have to wait till live 08 b4 they would make it...its a lot of work.... more than most of us probably think.

Mon Sep 12, 2005 4:56 pm

What would be cool is an NBA superstar mode like Maddens version, also if they made the CPU smarter. I think they should give it ago at redoing the whole gameplay thing

Mon Sep 12, 2005 6:09 pm

zmac, if you only knew how hard redoing the gameplay "thing" is.

That's a crap-load of work.

I realize that... cyanide, but, like last year, if someone under 6'2" shot in like.. let's say.. james's face. He was blocked 100% of the time. WHile James could block that sometimes. He sure as heck ain't gonna get that everytime. that's what I mean when I say they imrpoved the blocking... and the behind the back blocks are not as frequent iether. Watch some videos. :)

Of course Live 2006 is just a minor progress in the evolution of the Live series. It is pretty obvious, that EA is keeping all their best stuff for Live 2007.

Just remember its the d-e-m-o, its not the final product

I personally would prefer tweaks and fixes rather than an overhaul. I feel most elements of NBA Live are good and solid at the foundation, with some annoying flaws and glitches. I think if you keep overhauling it's just going to keep up a cycle of gameplay/a Dynasty Mode that's in some way better than its predecessor but has some new bugs or annoying traits of its own. I say build and change for the better before scrapping it all again.

You got that right. I believe that the things EA say we'll get in Live 2006 are pretty solid. Perhaps they won't drastically improve gameplay or dynasty (at least not this year), but the progress has surelly been made.

And yes, I did write this post to have an excuse for doing this:

I did watch some videos, and I saw behind the back blocks :? I'll wait till the game comes out and see how unfrequent it is after all.

I'm just hoping it's not frequent. It can happpen but not frequently. They should fix it themselves without us having to do sliders..

--Stephen

(funny thing ...my name is actually stephen)

Tue Sep 13, 2005 11:36 am

Have you never seen anyone post their name as a sig?

I guess ya'll need to get out more.

I don't know where the link would be. There are so many videos out there, but I think it was a "stopper" video or something where they show a collection of blocks, and I could've sworn I saw at least two behind the back blocks... of course it may not reflect the actual game, but it just makes me cringe seeing the same animations.

As for your name --Stephen, you actually had to type it out every time you post. Why not put it in your sig (instead of Rock On Peja :D )? Otherwise we know you're posting, so there's no need to type in "--Stephen"

Tue Sep 13, 2005 12:05 pm

Oh, I see.

Actually, it's like, habit for me to do the "--Stephen" after everything. My emails, chatting, and basically everything I type has that.. so.. it doesn't annoy me.. hee hee, unlike some other people. ;) j/k.

I couldn't get rid of rock on Peja. :D

--STEPHEN. haha

p.s. malfa you're really starting to annoy me.

Tue Sep 13, 2005 12:18 pm

Pour me another glass of cynicism, but I just don't get why some people can be so overly critical about, of all things, a DEMO. It's a demo. It's a glimpse. It's likely to change before the final release, which is only a few weeks away! A mere few weeks!

Stephen says:

--Dave... no... Jae. Sorry.
