question about the new ratings!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 8:40 am

i am just wondering why shaq's rating is 89???
josh smith is 81
marbury 88
and shaq is 89? to me, that doesn't make any sense.

i'm wodering if kobe is 95 and wade is 93, then kevin garnett should be 98 and mcgrady should be 96 imo!

josh smith is 81? what the hell !!
shaq is getting old and his numbers are decreasing every year. I don't know what the exact rating should be but should be less than last year. As for your ratings for KG and TMac, those are just some numbers you gave out. You need to justify them if you don't think they are right. EA gave them those numbers after doing the calculation on all the ratings combined. So if you think KG and Tmac deserves higher numbers, you need to point out which ratings should be higher

ps JOSH SMITH IS RATED 81!!!????

Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:23 am

do-it-all players have a better chance at overall ratings then do one sided players and centers usually fall under the latter.

where'd u see the ratings?

Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:32 am

Isn't like an 80 rating already considered an all-star caliber player? Josh Smith right now is nothing but a dunker and a shot blocker.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:38 am

If Josh Smith is 81, I will personally call EA and call each and every one of them a f*cking dumbass. He is SOOOOOOO overrated, he can dunk OMG WHO CARES go on AND 1

Wed Sep 07, 2005 11:27 am

josh smith 81...i don't think he even deserves a 65!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 11:43 am

i know what you are saying, but still josh smith is 81 compare to arguably the most dominant player in the nba right now.

josh smith is only good at dunking and blocking
in other hand shaq always demands double team, well at least most of the times. he is a power player in which if he receives the ball down low, its automatic 2 points! so what if he can't hit free throws!!! thats the only bad thing.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 11:52 am

We don't know the exact ratings yet. Even with that, their's no rating system that would have Josh Smith at 81, so something is probably wrong, those ratings might have not been correct, since it was from a beta copy.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:02 pm

I would love to see EA release the game with JS an 81.

WOOT GO BASSY WITH A 96 OVERALL RATING!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:04 pm

Even though Shaq is increasing in age and decreasing in stats I think he well deserves to be a 91 or 92 + rated player

Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:11 pm

He's still a dominant Mofucker...

He can still get 22 and 12..

He can still dominate other centers

He's still a strong dude...

Actually - no, that's not the only bad thing. Rating are done for certain abilities and totalled to give a rating over all. Shaq's rating will be crap for things like: ball handling, dribbling, jumping, 3 point shooting, midrange shooting ETC. Therefore regardless of if his overall rating is low compared to someone like McGrady he will still be the most dominant centre (if not player) in the game.

Overall ratings mean next to NOTHING guys, especially when you're comparing guys who play different positions.

People complain about the same crap every year. As long as the player has similar abilities to what they have in real life, AND as compared to other players in the game, then who cares what number rating get attributed to them.

Tim Duncan is the best player in basketball, but Tmac will have a better rating than him. That doesn't mean TD is any better or worse, it just means the have different levels of ability across the spectrum of ratings.

BASSY is gonna be 96 in two years Malfa!!!

for this year, he will be 70 to 75 don't you think!!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:54 pm

Bassy is gonna be a pimp in a few years for sure..

I CANT WAI TTO SEE HIM PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 1:03 pm

if nate can do something to make darius work hard every damn day and zach to pass more often and be unselfish, then i think blazes have a chance at the playoffs, but its only if darius works hard not like last year!!!

enough being said, i think that the blazers is going to be one of the most exciting team in the nba and even more if the young guys develope fast!!!

i'm just gonna support them no matter what!!!

GO BLAZERS!!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 1:18 pm

Yepp, I always support my blazers. Home town pride..plus they show all the games since I live in p-town.

KOBE should be 98
T-MAC should be 96
KG should be 97
Shaq should be 91
yao should be 81
That would be good.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 4:53 pm

Even Kobe is the best player so far..He should be atleast 90 not 98.

again, i don't understand how people come up with these ratings.
what is the difference between a 98 and a 97? why should Kobe be 98, not 97 or 96? did you actually do the calculation that EA uses? I'm not trying to be mean but it seems everyone is just selecting these ratings and they are so sure what each player ratings should be, but i don't understand how people can just come up with a rating without listing all the ratings.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 5:22 pm

yeah, i am sure that ea uses a system to calculate to find the right rating, unlike us who just guess i think!!!

Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:28 pm

EA uses their own opinion which may differ in ours..So thats why they have the editing portion in the game so that if we think their wrong we can easily edit it.dont be silly if we argue on their ratings cause people entitled to their own opinions. :P

Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:38 pm

As already mentioned, overall ratings (while they do play a role in trades in Dynasty Mode) aren't as important as they are often made out to be. But I anticipate I'll be editing default players in the roster updates, if only to adjust players who are playing better or worse than expected.

Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:46 pm

Thats my point  !

Wed Sep 07, 2005 11:29 pm

They changed overall scales. Maybe they're returning to that 50-99 format used last time in Live 2003. For example, Tony Delk is 69, and old Kevin Willis is 58 or 59. I think that now there is double difference between overall ratings. For me is OK if Josh Smith has 81 in this scale and Shaq 89. They will still play like they play.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking too. But I think the 0-99 ratings are more realistic.
