Live 2006 = Live 2004 on steroids

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Live 2006 = Live 2004 on steroids

Postby naciremadream on Thu Jul 28, 2005 1:46 pm

i personally thought NBA Live '04 was way better than '05 and was only a few flaws away from being the best Live ever. of course the double team animations where really annoying and killed it but online play was at least enjoyable.

In Live '05 the fastbreaks were gone as we all know, and the gameplay just wasnt half as fun IMO.

and last year when i watched Live '05 videos they looked boring.. just like the game ended up being (at least boring compared to my expectations)

but all the '06 videos have looked exciting and the game looks to be the most fun Live ever. toned down the blocks from last year too i see.. man this game is gonna be the ish.

NBA Live 2003 was a piece of sh*t...

All fast break, all the way and nothing else... You could score at 80% shooting percentage in 2003 and get like 130 points in 6 minute quarters... It was just a dunk fest and fast break mess...

Best Lives to date are 2005, 2004, 2001 and 2000... 2001 has a very annoying franchise mode bug so it ain't that great and I found the realistic speed gameplay a bit too boring and slow for me... I always remember Live 2000 being the one I like most... Live 2004 was the first to reach about the same level as the 2000 version.

2003 was a piece of s*it...

Most people think Live 2001 was the best because the best player was on the cover.

Live 2001 was the biggest pile of steaming shit I've ever put anywhere near my computer. What a horrific attempt at a video game. Anyways, Live 2000 was the best for me (Y)

My favourites thus far have been NBA Live 2004 and NBA Live 2005. I personally believe those are solid foundations to build upon, especially NBA Live 2005's Dynasty Mode.

Live 03 was better because of their cut scenes but its to easy to dunk there..04 and 05 were different..i hope 06 will be the best since they have so called freestyl superstars..

OMG you posted in all threads that they should remove the dynasty mode to focus on gameplay and now you state "the importance of cutscenes"..........DOH!!!!

cutscenes ARE NOT gameplay related (they are part of the PRESENTATION, not GAMEPLAY) and gameplay wise, i couldn't care less about PRESENTATION....

way too many dunking in the previous games. This game is actually challenging on superstar mode.

There should be a minimum age limit to who can write on these boards. Nikkolas is obviously a 6 year old that just barely knows how to write and understands basically nothing of the game...

He has gone on about removing dynasty mode, which I can get can be someone's opinion, but going on about improving gameplay and he wants to see more cut scenes and the ref and the bench players celebrate on the sideline...

In official basketball rules, the only man allowed to stand between the player bench and hardwood is the coach. That's the rule, which is not forced until someone comes on to the hardwood or just keeps on going about. So by the book, the players actually have to sit down while they are on the bench.

Live 2005 is good... As I said before, these new releases (2004, 2005) are the best lives they have released. I just hope that they had time to work on something other than XBOX360 graphics during this year.

And about these freestyle superstars... I've been going on about how bad passes the AI makes and it makes incorrect passes at incorrect times and that we should be able to control the kind of pass that we want to make. I have posted this some time ago (can't remember when, but it was like last winter or further back) and voila now it's the whole selling point of this new game... There is too much for it to be coincidence... The NLSC has added so much to the game already... EA is reading, be sure about that...

They fixed the passing?!?!...... that was one of my biggest issues with '05. DID THEY FIX "SLIDING"??? Also, any word on the players and their reactions to the ball/other players (user players going after the ball, user players running in circles when changing direction rather than cutting, players jumping in random directions rather than towards the ball, getting "locked" into other players when on D so you can go help on penetration)

I agree with a lot of the people who said Live 2000 was the best in the series, though. That was a very solid game considering all the additions that were made to it (franchise, 1 on 1, cut scenes, refs, etc.)

They have "fixed" the passing to Live 06 with the superstar playmaker abilities...

Sliding is not a big issue as it only helps the flow of the game... Of course if they can do smooth movement that does not slide the players along, they should do it, but it isn't a big issue...

NBA Live 2003 is the worst NBA Live that has been released... If you like NBA Live 2003 so much, you should play NBA Street and forget Live all together. If NBA Live ever gets down to that 2003 level, it will be the down fall of the entire series... You are allowed one mistake, but not many more...

NHL series had NHL 97 which was just incredibly horrible... And I don't see why EA released it to free downloading when it totally sucked the most of all the NHL games... They should have released 98 which was one of the best releases in the series...

NBA Live 95 was great too... I played some classic battles with my friends in Live 95... I remember playing it with 12 minute quarters and with huge fantasy superstar teams and the score was tied after the fourth quarter about 320-320... That was sweet... The game didn't have too much to do with real basket ball or realistic settings or anything, but it was fun to play with friends...

Yeah, I know, but isn't it just bad publicity that they release a really crappy game of the series... They could easily give us one of the older games that were actually playable so it would attract new gamers to buy the new game to see how good the game is today... If I were to play NHL 97 and never had tried anything else from the series, I would certainly not be tempted to buy any games from the series. But if I saw NHL 98 and how good that was, I would be tempted to go to the store and see how the new games are...

NHL 97 was a big turn off... It was unplayable...

Like if they released NBA Live 2003 for free downloading... The guy who had never played it before would just look at it and say "what the hell is this crap"!?!?!? And probably think if this was in year 2003, there's a lot of work to do.

Releasing a bad game for free download is just going to push people away from the game... If they released like NHL 95 or the original or NBA Live 95, now those were "blocky days" compared to todays, but still the games were highly playable and entertaining...

It certainly is a strange move to push it as a classic if it wasn't. I think the first three NBA Lives still stand as classics, as do NBA Live 98 and NBA Live 99. NBA Live 2000's moving towards that territory though there's still a lot of people who play it so in a way it hasn't really been outmoded.
