Super Star Moves

Postby jaywv30 on Tue Jul 19, 2005 5:53 am

I know the previews mentioned player specific moves like Kobe's behind the back drive, Jameson's weird runners and Korver's quick release, but do think they REALLY are player specific, or will like every good shooter have the same quick release as Kover. Will every great wing(McGrady, LeBron) listed as a "Prerimeter Scorer" do Kobe's behind the back or will they have they're own moves even though they will have the same skill sets?

Basically my question is, will they have the same 8 moves as Kobe or will they have 8 of they're own "Perimeter Scoring" moves?

I think It would be great if they implented the 8 superstar moves like Jona said and that some player will have an extra move of there own witch no one else has (Y)

Of course its gonna be the same 8 moves.

You think EA Canada gonna spend their lazy azz butt doing one by one all the superstars moves? I think not

I'm sorry, but I know how hard and how long the production team works on the game. Just because something might not be how we'd like it to be doesn't make them lazy. Don't get me wrong, I have my gripes and nitpicks too, but it bothers me to see so many "lazy" comments. Especially when there are complaints about the producers not posting here.

I'm guessing memory/hardware limitations are a problem, seeing as though that's the reason 5 on 5 gameplay doesn't feature as many shooting styles as the three point shootout.

Andrew the whole hardware limitations is such a pile of crap....every year they redo the graphics and this and that pushing it further. If they would pull back the glitz(super graphics) and add more of the guts(animations,AI) then we wouldn't bitch about this perceived laziness. I don't think it is laziness at all but poor leadership. The Live series hasn't built upon anything in such a long time. Features are in one year and out the next. Although the EA team may work hard they do not work effecient. I have failed to understand how EA's Live producer doesn't have a five year plan in which to implement certain features.

I am speaking of the cuff here but I read about Maddens production cycle(which I imagine is comparable to Lives) and I was suprised how ineffecient it is. Basically they have a planning period after the release, then they devise a schedule of what they would like to fit in, which is usually a conservative approach to make the street date(which stores will have Madden next Tuesday but can't release it for two weeks)...etc The point being that instead of this being an ongoing project it is a yearly formulated project. You would think with the stability these games produce(every year they are coming out hell or high water, player association agreements are usually multiyeared along with the licensing) and the profits made, that the development cycle would be a continous thing, in which team members work throughout the year on certain aspects of the game....for instance a a few members would be in charge of dynasty mode and they would continually tweak and implement improvements on dynasty mode year round. Obviously they would have certain things that would not make it into each edition but the fact would be that they would continously be working on an aspect of the game. Instead we get a feature or improvement or two in an area....in which they are hyped and promoted(the biggest waste of money ever!). I would like to see a game that has a comprehensive future orientated look into improving these games rather than a band aid approach of hype and disappoint.

BTW I would love to see the profit margains on Madden or Live. Although the programmers and people involved in these games are working many hours and very hard, the fact of the matter is the field is becoming over saturated and more team members could easily be hired. Christ hire a guy like my friend(who is struggling mightily to break into the gaming business) to help out with the long hours on the cheap(cheap internship). I have a sneaky suspicion that the sports games we play are making a few people very rich and i don't like it!

Andrew I know you have friends in these positions and I don't fault them personally. I do fault an ineffecient system that has left me disappointed many times over.

I must admit I'm not an expert on programming, but I don't think hardware limitations (I'm talking about the current generation of consoles) is just blowing smoke. It's a shame any limitations they might have are holding the PC version back though. But my main point was that it isn't laziness.
