Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

this is because the other player has different playmap file but I think this may be solved?

make a backup of the original playmap and the edited one... or if you are playing with a friend via directip send the files you've edited to him.

Someone should make an accurate dbf file so all teams will play as they should, and make it available for download (Y) Dr13 *cough* *cough*

Yes, it would be great if you colud upload it...
you just have to go for example to http://www.rapidshare.de, press the "browse" button, locate the file you want to upload on your hard disk, upload it and then post here the link here on the forum!
Thanks!

How about you email the file to someone who's well versed at uploading files to the net? Who will volunteer?

Not saying it is. He seems to be doing all the work in uncovering all this data for the games betterment, just thought someone would volunteer to assist in alleviating some of the load. I would assist, however I am at work at the moment and don't have that liberty.

Thanks, now a zip containing playmap.dbf, teams.dbf and players.dbf is downloadable in rapidshare:
http://rapidshare.de/files/6295551/NBA_plays.zip.html
Playmap.dbf should be copied to the currentdb folder in My Documents/NBA Live 06/database
I edited teams.dbf and players.dbf for the 2005-06 roster downloadable in nbalive.org, it would be best to replace these files in their save (I am not sure if it will cause problems in another saves or the currentdb). My Documents/NBA Live 06/saves/2005-06Roster
Playmap.dbf has the offensive playbook
Teams.dbf has the team strategy
And players.dbf is an edited one from the nbalive.org roster where I decreased off rebounds to the fourth part and increased with another formula def rebounds (this is explained in this post: http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic29950.php)
Enjoy!

Another important thing: I DON'T RECOMMEND USING these teams.dbf and players.dbf in saved dynasties, seasons, etc. It would lead to crashing problems, because player.dbf table is different than players.dbf in rosters. The same with teams.dbf. This is only for that 2005-06 roster.
For dynasties make yourself the changes in teams.dbf (they aren't that long if you use my teams.dbf as a reference), and do again the rebounding ratings using this method:
And players.dbf is an edited one from the nbalive.org roster where I decreased off rebounds to the fourth part and increased with another formula def rebounds (this is explained in this post: http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic29950.php)

Note: there is no player named Ref Referee, you can freely expand the formula until the last line of a player WITH ratings (in dynasty there will be more players without the ratings, they are the scouted players)
I don't think it would be possible to make a patch to update those tables, because every dynasty is different, and have different fields in tables.

But we can start a dynasty with these teams dbf and players dbf and be OK, right? I see why the players dbf would ruin a dynasty but why would the team dbf? It's the same teams, there is no expansion in this game so were stuck with the same teams the whole dynasty with the same ID's.

Thanks for all your time and hardwork, the game played so much better when these playbooks were correct.

I have deleted the last part of my post, because I had problems starting a dynasty with these. Always do the playmap.dbf part, it doesn't cause problems.
- TO START A NEW DYNASTY:
Copy only teams.dbf to the roster, not players.dbf
Start the dynasty
If you want to edit players.dbf save before simulating (inmediately after the training camp) and do the process to change rebound ratings using the players.dbf in the dynasty save folder.
- TO EDIT A DYNASTY
Edit players.dbf like before and also teams.dbf*
- TO USE IT IN A NORMAL NO-DYNASTY GAME
Copy freely teams.dbf and players.dbf

*I tried copying teams.dbf to an edited dynasty, and I had some rare problem: ¡no games! Don't know why, but this may crash some time

You will need to backup teams.dbf and players.dbf for situations like this :!: :
- I use first the edited roster to play exhibition games, but then I want to start a dynasty. Copy the original backup of players.dbf to the roster save then start the dynasty.

call a play

Postby riq on Sun Oct 16, 2005 4:03 am

How can i call an offensive play?
I've selected the plays in the playbook.
But when i'm on the court how do i call the play? When i use the analog stick i only get post up, iso or a pick and roll. How do i call the rest?

The files don't work for me. Here's what I did:

1.- Copied the playmap.dbf file to /database/Origdb

2.- Copied the teams.dbf file to /my documents/NBA LIVE 06\saves\2005-06Roster

3.- Started a dynasty, simmed exactly to the end of the training camp. Saved the game, quit it and copied the players.dbf to /my documents/NBA LIVE 06\saves\dynasty.

4.- Went to play a game and had a crash stating something about Base. Couldn't past that point.

So then I started anew. I repeated steps 1 and 2 and skipped step #3 and went to play a game. It didn't crash but then I checked the playbooks and strategies and they weren't modified. They were the default ones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Okay, so I had an error. I copied the playmap.dbf file into the wrong folder. I fixed that and started a dynasty, went to play the first game and Team Strategy and Offensive Playbook were changed to reflect PlayMakers adjustment. Great. BUT the defensive playbooks remained unchanged. I realized that must have something to do with the players.dbf file so I saved after the training camp and copied the players.dbf in the dynasty save folder and went to play a game... Same crash once again. So, now I can only play with the Team Strategy and Offensive Playbook adjustments as there is no way to have the Defensive Playbook because it causes a crash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to try and have the Defensive Playbooks adjustment.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Thank you very much.
It works. And o so simple. Great to be able to call some plays and take control of the offense. Its my kind of game to play an structurised game.

It makes the game a lot more fun.

The players.dbf I included in the zip isn't for a dynasty, it is for exhibition games with that roster. Sure it will crash if you copy it to a dynasty save. The process to save before simulating and so on is intended to edit the players.dbf in the new dynasty save (for the rebounds thing), not to copy the one I sent.

The defensive playbook isn't included, I have never figured how to set these plays (and it has nothing to do with the players.dbf). (N) My zip includes offensive playbook and team strategy, and a players.dbf only for exhibition games.

dr 13, dont you think that defensive rebounding is too high? Because it wont differentiate between the great rebounders and the average ones. Since everyone's def rebounding is now so high.

Maybe... But I will stick with it:
For me it WILL differentiate between interior (C, PF) and exterior players (SG, PG). SF is in the middle.
In defensive rebounding, I don't use a PG to get the rebound, I change and use an interior player. So Nash won't have the same number of rebounds than Stoudemire. The CPU does the same, it rarely uses a PG or SG to get a defensive rebound.
But when I compare players like Ben and Rasheed, yes, it won't differentiate too much, but I prefer that than seeing the CPU catch the ball, or seeing me catch an off rebound easily. 20 off rebounds screw stats more than the difference in def reb between the Wallaces.

Still, with this adjustments, I can have a game where the CPU catched 7 off reb and the next one where the CPU catch 20 :? It's very irregular

Fantastic work dr13, we truly appreciate your efforts. Quick question for you. I'm not so sure that my offensive quick plays are showing up properly in the game. As you outlined, I copied the playmap.dbf to the currentdb, then teams.dbf to the saves.

The Team Strategy shows up fine, however the offensive playbook seems outta whack! Example the last 4 plays don't correspond with what playmaker assigned. Maybe 1 or 2 plays line up, that's it!

Can you confirm that I'm copying to the right folder? Any other suggestions to test this out properly?

Thanks again.
