Thanks to YOU my friend, and everyone who put their work into this. By Final, should be a doozy.

Is it sufficient to simply put this file in the arena folder or do I have to do some .dbf editing, like changing speechids and stuff? If so, what are the speechids for the different players? Thanks
Yes you should just put it in the arena folder and the dbf editing should be done for you.
Thanks for your response. My main problem is I'm already running my dynasty which I really don't want to re-start. In my dynasty, the real rookies are still being called by their numbers. I was hoping that using your xarndat.idx file would save me the .dbf and audy 06 editing that has to be done to change that. Since I'm not using your roster, I'm sure I still have to do the .dbf editing, but at least, I don't have to do the audy 06 editing. What I need to know though is what the speechid's of the various rookies are. Do you have like a list or something? That way, I can just do the .dbf editing myself. Sorry if it's too much work. I tried to preview the various speechid's in Audy 06 but I couldn't. Thanks.

Oh I'm not sure what they are, you can just download the roster and look through to see what the speechid's are.

Hey hammertime23,
I have a few questions:
How long do you think it will take before you release the final version of this patch? because I read that people have had problems with the roster, shoes and skintones...
Does this patch have ALL of the rookies' cyberfaces and portraits? cause if you don't have all of the portraits you can ask samutei if you can use his (he has really good portraits)...
Mon Jul 03, 2006 4:57 am
Not sll rookies have portraits and faces but all the ines i could find on these forums do. I will probably release the final version in a week or two because I have to start from square 1, because I have to ask people for there approval to use their stuff. People shouldn'y be having problems if they installed every part right.

Pink shoes problem solved...You need to download the sgsm part if you have this problem.
Hey hammertime, as for the birth places thing: downloading the NBA Live 06 Editor should help you. It's much easier than DBF since you don't have to found all the codes. I can't help you doing this right now because in 3 days I have my exams and I have to start studying. When I'll finish my exams I'll see what I can do.

Now I'm getting a total crash when I use this. =/
Mon Jul 03, 2006 10:18 am
I don't know what to do sorry. I'm working on the final version. I haven't spent much time working on it because it's summer so I work as a camp counselor from 9-4 then I have a life. Trust me it will be done. Also the free agency is really hard to do because I don't know who to put in it. Be patient.

Anyway I can just download the updated rosters with all the rookies on their teams instead of the draft installer?

yeah! i think, or do this,
dont doownload anything have any connection to the draft,
wait this man complete his draft patch(his roster),
dont download the beta version, download the complete ver he will release
because the game every time crashs in the beta ver.

The reason there's confusion, is that what we have here are several completely different projects all wrapped into one.
To do this right, seems to me the following would need to be done:
1. a clean post-draft roster update which adds rookies to proper teams (with proper data, bio info and ratings), and handles player movement - Andrew, or someone else if Andrew doesn't do one.
2. a package of cf's and portraits for rookies with a corresponding .bat file that makes neccesary updates to players.dbf and appearance.dbf
3. samutei's speech files (adds speech for rookies) with a corresponding .bat file that adds speechid values to players.dbf
4. an update to shoe patch .bat that updates shoes for all rookies and players that have changed teams.
Thus, the key would be to get a proper and accurate post-draft roster update out there first, following which #2-4 could be put together. This would be the way to go, to keep everybodys' game from crashing and pink heads, shoes, etc.
I'd be more than happy to help out, but I'm hesistant to start doing anything while the official post-draft NLSC roster is in limbo. I know Andrew - understandably - doesn't take too well to being pressured regarding his roster update, but I think I've shown above that it's an important issue, timing-wise, which affects the entire community. Given that we have about 3 months before 07 is released, it would be cool to be able to move ahead with a post-draft update to be able to play the 06 game now, to its fullest.
my 2 cents, cheers, Tibs

OK, to the guys that are making the roster it is probably better for you to start your own thread. I want this one for questions about the installer and for my next little project.
And for the people with skintone problems, are the problems just on your team or on all players? Did you make sure you edited both instances of the players on your team in the players.dbf(because in dynasty mode you have 2 entries for players on your dynasty in the players.dbf)? Have you tried changing the muscle textures?

dsigns wrote:Anyway I can just download the updated rosters with all the rookies on their teams instead of the draft installer?
No, because you need the "sgsm"s to prevent pink heads and shoes with that roster.
Tibs has got it all right IMO. At least... that's how a perfectionist, obsessive-compulsive [i.e. me] would do it.

If I had any clue how to do anything but #1, I would help out.
Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:46 pm
You guys know it isn't very hard to create the players in your game and then edit the dbf files. Most of the information you need, except for hometown and state are provided inside the .bat files I released.
Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:56 pm
when the finished roster without any buggs will be released?
can ya release a patch that's do the real picks in the dynasty draft.?
Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:56 pm
Ole English when I install your patch there are still generate rookies along with the real ones and there aren't Renaldo Balkman, Joel Freeland, amd Oleksiy Pecherov.

That is because i did not overwrite all of the rookies. As for missing players, they were not on the sites where i was getting my info from prior to my release (except for Pecherov which i simply forgot to add.)

Hey man, sorry about that, didn't mean to hijack your thread. In any case, the work you've done with this installer is fantastic, never seen it done before, to be able to add actual rookies to a draft class in a dynasty. Clearly, my post, and others in this thread, have more to do with a post-draft roster update than anything. So, hats off to you for this very cool project.

when I download this and I follow the instructions at the ReadMe file, I dont understand when it says "open up your players.dbf (where do I find that?) with the DB COmmander and then you should see them at the bottom when I scroll down the draftees.
can somebody help me, please ???
Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:09 pm
ok I got with that part up there, but this bugs me a lot, i dont understand, this line :
"Change the appearid in the appearance.bat to the player ids in the players.dbf. This takes a little bit, maybe 15-20 minutes tops, but it's the only way since the player id's are random in every dynasty.once you are done changing all of the real draftees save the appearance.bat.Run the appearance.bat in your dynasty folder."
can someone tell me , step by step what to do, please !!!
