This is awesome. I bet this ll have a huge impact on the sim stats also. Since the plays now run through the impact players. No more Amare Stoudemire averaging 17 ppg. I cant wait to get this going

great job guys, thanks for these updates.....however i got a lil problem, sometimes in my rush to execute a play before a FUCKIN 3 sec in the key is called, dang EA is making users work hard this year(last year, u had a lil help cuz uncontrolled players moved quite often froom the paint after a while but not so much this year, so im always targetting how long my players have been in the key.......so in my rush to call a play, i click the thumbstick and sometimes the blue circle dont show however the play its designed for shows up on the screen, but i found my players dont respond until the circle shows up, could this be a glitch?

I just had a thought. I think Andrew should put this in his roster patch so everyone can use this. What do you say, Andrew?

Ok I finished up on all plays and edited the front page. They are brief discriptions as to how each play runs and who is the primary guy. But like with any baskeball play there are other options if a play breaks down or the primary guy isn't available.
The CPU will actually go to other options if the play breaks down. The beauty is they will play discpline offense and move the ball around. In fact you might see as many as 3-4 passes by the CPU on some teams before you see a shot. That's is great because it helps the pace of a game and gives it an NBA type feel.
Takes about 5 minutes to set up offensive and defensive playbooks. Sliders are great but you can also take NBA Live to another Level by designing plays that the CPU will run in your Dynasty games. It helps a great deal because EA can't forsee any future trades and this philosophy workd great for me last year with Live 05 and it's even better this year with Live 06.......
Hopefully this helps everyone out to get the best gameplay possible and enjoy this before XBOX 360 hits.
EVERYONE TAKE CARE!

Well, it's like 12:30 in night here, i will sleep
I haven't figured yet those def playbooks
but for one day it's great

I got a quick question, I'm used to having Double Team as my 1 defenceive play, but its all the way down there at 4 and when you need to be able to press it straight away, I've often pressed the wrong button.
Is there anyway in which we can change the default plays?
i.e: Move double team to play 1, not play 4?
Thanks

After you guys mess around with the DBFs, could a patch be released for us non programmer types?
Sun Oct 09, 2005 3:18 pm
WOW! I come off this board for less than 24 hrs & man, things really get to rolling!
Great work dr13! I'm off to try out your .dbf work to see if I can make them all stick. I'll check back later to see if the Def Playbooks have been ironed. Once again, hats off to dr13!
Big ups to Andrew for making this a sticky!
Oh! Can't forget Playmaker! This guys is a sport sim genius! He has also provided realistic gameplay sliders for both NHL '06 & NCAA '06. I'm loving both of those game now just as much as I am Live '06 with his sliders. Check his sliders out at Operation Sports.
(Hope you don't mind the plug Playmaker, but people need to know how much more fun their sport gaming can be with your sliders!)

Amazing, the game is getting better and better.

Can't wait to see what you find out tommorrow!
Hats off to you guys dr13 and playmaker!

dr 13 for some reason the team strategies dont save in the dbf. I tried to save them for currentdb, working, and original, but it seems to not work. If you can help me out I d appreciate it, thanks. btw awesome work.

I think you have to copy that teams.dbf to all your saves. Playmap.dbf only appears in current, working and original, but teams.dbf appears in those and in all your saves (rosters, dynasties). For rosters you'll have to copy the dbf. And for dynasties you have to edit again, because that table have info that will be deleted if you replave the file.

Well, it seems it isn't possible to edit def playbook, the DEF_1,2,3,4 in playmap.dbf do nothing I know in the game, the same with different columns in teams.dbf, defplays.dbf and plays.dbf...

I have recently edited a small error in the list of offensive plays, now it says "25-Shuffle" where it said "25-Scorer G".
Also, another thing
Ok I finished up on all plays and edited the front page
¿?
Is Playmakers there now? Because there are five plays he didn't explain. They are: Zipper, Playmaker, Double Power, Mid Power and Scorer SG
Takes about 5 minutes to set up offensive and defensive playbooks
He didn't read my posts too
No advance for def playbooks...

Yeah your right I slipped up on a few plays. I'll update those later. Ea actually put in so many plays this year I forgot a few that were listed.
I have to go back and watch those 5 plays again because I write down what I see unfolding. So, thanks for catching that slip up.

hi dr13, can i ask you something?
where you find the ID of defense and offensive playbook (description)?
becouse i doing a tool for manage the rooster (trade, reorder players, ratings, superstar ratigns, off playbook, difference between 2 rooster) but i don't find the informatin about this.
i try to find a way to modify the defense playbook, but is very hard to understand how it works.

In reality, if someone explores DBFs he'll find that playmap.dbf, and for logic he would think they are the plays. Simply changing values and seeing them in the game would serve to see the changes and to figure the numbers. But the first time, I've really known the IDs in another much complicated way:
You need an hexadecimal editor (I used FXEDIT) and EAGraph, in the game folder look for the "ai" folder and open with EAGraph xplays.viv
There you have all those plays in the form: C:/MyPlays/xxx.ply where xxx is the name of that play. I don't know why every play appears two times. I extracted each one (just one file for every play, not the two files), and opened them with an hexadecimal editor. Then, maybe with lucky, I figured that the FIRST number is the ID for the play, and then appears the name. I don't know what is the rest of the file.
Then I found that playmap.dbf, tried changing those IDs and it worked (I tried with philadelphia, changing philly, what I knew it was 8, to Cavalier (5) and i felt

after seeing in the game Philadelphia with the Cavalier play).
But I searched I ton of files hoping at least to find the name of a defensive play, to find then this number, but I've never seen this. And I tried changing values in playmap.dbf, in DEF_1,DEF_2,DEF_3 and DEF_4, 10 to 10 from 10 to 1200! But nothing.
If you can find these IDs and the way to change the defensive playbook, like other guys said here, Hats off to you!
