NCAA Mod 2007 for Live 06 | -

Has anybody using the files cklitsie released and matthughes file had any luck playing a tourney or season with the college teams? I can use the NCAA teams for Play Now, but haven't been able to see any teams when trying to start a season or tournament (Sweet Sixteen). Is there any trick to setting this thing up? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

With what is available is terms of a roster, you are lucky to even have "play now" working. Seaon will be a stretch to get that to work.
The roster just is not even close to being able to play.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I have no idea what to fix on the roster to allow me to play season or tournaments with ncaa teams. Apparently mattholmes has been able to get his roster working and get ncaa playable for Live 06. He sent me his roster file, but I'm not sure what is needed to make it playable for tournament play which is really what I want it to do. I've e-mailed matt several times, but have yet to hear back from him about whether he is able to play season or tournament with ncaa. Anyone have any idea what could be keeping me from being able to see the ncaa teams when trying to play season or tourney mode? I can open the ncaa rosters and edit players on college teams, etc, and it seems to work pretty good, but I still can't get it to play season or tourney with the ncaa teams. Seems odd to me, just can't figure it out. If anyone has figured it out - it would be great to hear from you. Thanks again for the input! I'll keep working on it. I have to say, it has been fun to play ncaa games on Live 06 - just wish I could get it fully functioning. What's there is VERY nice! Thanks to all those worked hard on this mod!!!

I may be getting closer to being able to play a Playoff or Season with the NCAA file. I changed 29 of the NCAA teams to IDs from 0-29 in I think all of the dbfs i needed to - players, teams, teaminfo, teamgear, coaches. I changed them in the roster folder I put in the saves folder in NBA Live 06 folder in My Documents. The teams in the NCAA file were all numbered 55-99 which apparently won't work for Season and Playoff mode. Now, when I try to play a playoff, Boston College shows up (Team ID 0), but that is the only team that does show up. I can't get any other team to show up in the Playoff brackets - BC is the only team available. I should look closely at why BC works and the other ones don't...still can't isolate the problem...

I am now able to play NCAA in Playoff(Sweet Sixteen) and Season mode. I think the key was, after trying all kinds of other stuff, going into the Teams.dbf and edting the TEAMCODE for the 30 teams I renumbered 0-29 and changing them all to 0 which equals NBA Team. The TEAMCODE in the NCAA file was 13 for all the NCAA teams. I think that one thing was the key along with renumbering 30 teams 0 to 29. The other key was renumbering 30 teams 0 to 29 in TEAMNUM. They had been numbered 55-99. I then also had to change the Team ID in the following dbf's: Players, Coach, Teamgear, and Teaminfo to correspond with the changes I made to the Team ID in Teams.dbf

I can also still play exhibition games with the teams that are left numbered between 55-99, but they are not available in Season or Playoff mode. The other thing I did with the teams I renumbered 0-29 was make 15 teams West conference (0) and 15 teams East conference (1) in the CONFERENCE colum in Teams.dbf. I'm not sure if this step was necessary, but it may be.

So, now I'm playing a Sweet Sixteen tourney with real NCAA teams with real rosters on real courts with real unis! Most of the teams that are actually in the Sweet Sixteen in the real tourney are available in this mod, but not all of them (Butler, Oregon, UNLV, USC, and Vanderbilt aren't in the mod, but all the others are). It's definitely not perfect, but I am playing NCAA and it is a lot of fun! You can edit the teams yourself and get it playing pretty good. I may even try a couple of cyberfaces to add!

What about the ratings? And are you experiencing any crashes due to the roster being subjected to excel and such?

I have not yet experienced any crashes, but I haven't played a game with all the teams yet. I don't think the ratings are that great, but the game is playable. Wisconsin had every player rated as 1, but I went in and fixed them and they look pretty good now. It's really fun setting up the Sweet Sixteen. All 30 teams that I renumbered 0-29 are selectable in the Playoff (Sweet Sixteen) mode now. I should point out that the roster I am using came from mattholmes30. It's not perfect (Georgia Tech still all had white heads), but it is playable.

I spoke too soon I've been able to select the teams in Playoff mode for the Sweet Sixteen, but now I'm experiencing crashes everytime I go to play a game in Playoff mode. Seems to happen with just about every team. I can sim the games, I just can't play them right now.

Looking at the dbf files in the Playoff Save folder, maybe there's a problem with the CUSTOMARENA, CUSTOMLOGO dbf's??? These dbf's are present in the Playoff Save folder. Maybe it's looking for a custom arena or custom logos that aren't there? Anyone have any other ideas about this crash. I'm getting so damn close......

OK...I'm now playing NCAA basketball in Season and Playoff (Sweet Sixteen) mode. I did a LOT of messing around with this file. There were 12 teams without a court and those were causing the crash when trying to play a game in Playoff or Season mode I believe. I just extracted the court files from the Georgia Tech court .viv file (gtec.viv) and renamed all the files for each of the 12 teams without a court and placed the extracted files into the sgsm folder. I also added a 2006 Final Four logo to the court and figured that the Final Four is being playing at the Ga. Tech court so that would be a good base and I've never modded a court before so just used the G.Tech court as a base. So, the result is no crashes with any teams - all the teams have some sort of stadium so the game loads up and plays.

I also went in and gave all of the players the correct body colors and got rid of all the white heads on dark bodies, etc. I also added hair types and hair colors. Most of the generic players had white heads with no hair, so I added hair and hair color. The faces are all generic except for the cyberfaces, but it isn't a big deal since you don't see the faces close up all that often anyway. I also got the cyberfaces, and added over 100 cyberfaces to the game.

As far as ratings go, I'm not sure how good they are, but they don't look horribly bad. The good players are better than the crappy ones anyway.

So, now I finally have a playable NCAA game that doesn't look too bad. It is definitely playable now, and I can play the Sweet Sixteen along with the actual tourney! I just had to get this thing working since so much great work has been done on it.

Thanks Jao! You definitely played a part in helping me figure this stuff out. I mean it's not perfect by any means, but it is playable, and the stuff that was created for the mod is so great I wanted to make it playable and use that stuff. I'm really having fun playing NCAA basketball on the PC.

I was thinking of making and hosting a site for a NCAA Mod / 06
if some one could make it work. Maybe edit it every year as a NCAA game for PC in the future looks grim.

I will post what I have somewhere. Remember, this is a work in progress and the roster file still needs a lot of work. Most of the players have generic faces and all look the same - except for the 140 or so cyberfaces. I've been able to play with every team at home without any crashing. Most of the players are at least the correct color with a matching head - although you will probably find a few messed up players that I missed. The ratings aren't perfect either and will probably need work. The generic court that I used for the teams that had no court looks the same for all teams and is not a home court for that team, but it will work, and if you're playing a Sweet Sixteen playoff, it will make sense and have a little bit of a Final Four feel. It has the Georgia Tech court as a base since that's where the Final Four is being played this year.

I'm still making sure that everything is playable and will try to upload everything tomorrow - the courts, cyberfaces, roster file, and all the stuff that cklistie posted for download. Some of the changes I made to the roster file didn't get saved, so I have to redo them which will take a little bit of time to make sure they saved, but I should get it out tomorrow.Remember, none of this stuff is mine, I've just messed around with it to try and make it playable. Thanks has to go to cklistie for all of the beautiful courts, logos and everything visual with the mod, hammertime and others for the great cyberfaces and mattholmes30 for sending me a roster file to work with. I hope all of this works for everyone.

Briggs, I would absolutely love it if you would host an NCAA mod/06 site and we could have an updated NCAA mod for 06 each year. What is available already is really good. It would be terrible if all that good work on the mod went to waste. It really was so close to being a spectacular mod. It still looks good, but it's just playable now, not spectacular. In reality, the mod was pretty much done so the NCAA mod for 06 appears to be the closest one to being finished. We should take, update it, make it better and hopefully play NCAA next season. I will help with the roster files and stuff. I'm not a court or jersey modder, so someone else will have to do that stuff, but I could certainly help with the rosters. I've been figuring out the dbf editing pretty good through this process.

Anyway, hope you all have fun with it - I am!

After your done, can I try converting your stuff to 07? I already had permission from CK.

This is the mod that cklistie put together with all of the visuals for the NCAA mod. This readme is also in that archive.

IMPORTANT!!!

After installing the "ncaa-files" mod, you will need to go into the program files/ea sports/NBA Live 06/sgsm/stadia folder and remove the ariz.viv file from the folder. Just delete this file. This court was crashing the game, so I made a generic court for Arizona and included it in the generic courts file.


If you want teams other than the 30 teams that I renumbered in Season or playoff mode, you will have to use a dbf editor to change the TEAMCODE in the teams.dbf from 13 to 0. You will then have to change a team back from 0 to 13 for each team you want to be able to use in Season or Playoff mode. You can only have 30 teams (0-29) available for Season mode to work. You can play Play Now games with all 45 teams. The teams I have numbered 0-30 are: Arizona, Boston College, DePaul, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Marquette, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Southern Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A & M, Texas Tech, UCLA, Villanova, Virginia, Wisconsin and xavier.

I tested Season and Playoff mode last night, and all the teams appeared to be playable and working on my machine. Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow, good job of finishing this. I'm going to reinstall my Live 06 and test this out right away, Congratulations. Maybe me and you can work out something for next year .

you are the freaking man. I know that this is waht CK was hopiong for. Like you said, not prefect, but we got it out in time for the FINAL FOUR. even though my beloved devils could not join the party...

It may be too early, but we should make a team for making a better, real, roster for next season. Im in, and i bet many onthers would too. we can still use this, this stuff is great!

until next season (oh how boring and long the summer just turned- no ncaa bk or football). oh well, there is always baseball...

ok guys...
although some work was done on the roster, not all teams have been edited. For all ACC teams, things are not right. I dont know. matthoilmes may have only changed ratings for remaining teams however, for example with duke:

jon sheyer is an 8 percent three point shooter. Brian zoubek is an 87 percenter.

joe paliucha (rarely used bench warmer) is an 87 inside scorer....

ohio state has 8 freestyle suprestars. no other team has one....

just pointing this out.

You're right, the roster still has a lot of work that needs to be done. I think it can be fixed and probably wouldn't have to be started from scratch, but it will take time. I wish I had more time to just fix the ratings, but in reality I didn't even scratch the surface with the ratings. I had my hands way more than full just trying to get the damn thing to play a game in Playoff or Season mode without crashing. There were teams crashing, missing courts, 80% of the players with completely bald white heads, heads that didn't match bodies, pink heads, hair with no color, no ability to play Season or Sweet Sixteen (Playoff) and on and on. It was a mess!

If someone had time and just sat down for one whole day, they could get the ratings fixed up really nicely I think. I would take a stab at them, but I was really just trying to get the game playable. I hope I didn't raise people's hopes too much with what I did to get the game playable.

Dukey, it sounds like you know a lot about the ratings, probably way more than I do. If you had the time, I would love to see the roster file after you fixed the ratings a little. But, it all takes time. I would certainly help with the ratings for some of the teams if necessary. I also agree that we should get a team togeter to make a much better, real roster for next season. This NCAA mod is almost there. We just need to customize the players (make them look a little more like the real person), maybe add some more cyberfaces, add the missing courts, and make the roster a lot better. It might even be good to add a couple more teams (I would love to see Oregon and USC in there). We should definitely keep this mod alive. It's breathing now, but we can make it healthier! I'd be willing to help with the 06 mod for next season for sure. Let me know!

p.s. Sam,you were able to download and get everything set up o.k. though? If so, that's good, at least that's working. Did you find any bugs other than the ratings issue?

what we had origionally intended to do was to just copy ratings from college hoops 2k7. i did that for 2 teams, and then we realized that it wasnt going to work...(various reasons-dont ask)

get on AIM sometime. for obvious reasons i don't want to post my aim here, but i have added you on my buddy list and will im you next time i see that you are on. I dont know waht we are going to be able to do fro this year, maybe not much except maybe final four rosters...it may jsut be too late. BUT THIS MOD DID NOT GO T WASTE WE CAN USE IT FOR NEXT YEAR. THIS IS A GREAT BASE, NOW LET'S BUILD ON IT FOR 07' 08!!!

o yes i was able to download ok. just pushed the download button and had to wit for like 10 minutes (i too got the error message) but it worked ok.

Ratings are an enormous task. believe me, this may be the hardest part of the mod.
