sine there is a high possibilty that 2k9 will be available for pc< I hope u guys would still continue to make this project especially IF THE 2K9 IS PORT FROM PS2

Mon Sep 29, 2008 11:14 pm

I intend to continue my updates for the NBA Live series regardless of NBA2K's status on the PC. This is the NBA Live Series Center, after all. I'm sure we will pay some attention to a PC version of 2K particularly if it is patchable but we're not abandoning NBA Live by any means.

Hey, I haven't been here in a while now.

So, are you guys including/replacing Seattle Supersonics -> OKC Thunder?

Tue Oct 14, 2008 3:09 pm

Yes, including their court, logos and jerseys.

Could you please remove the second image from your signature? It's against our the size limit in the Forum rules. Thanks. :)

Not really, though the aim is still to get it out before the season begins (or at worst, within the first couple of weeks of the season).

Sat Nov 08, 2008 9:41 am

Sat Nov 08, 2008 9:42 am

NBA Live still has a huge advantage over 2k: You can play online, lol.

The 2k9 game is basically a console game for pc.

Also, i really like to be able to save box scores and the menus and stuff like that are much more friendly in nba live than 2k9.

And if you're not too find of Isomotion, 2K might not be a viable alternative.

At the moment we're having a tough enough time getting everything together for the NBA update. Sorry.

Fine by me if you want to re-post it in the 06 releases section.

I don't know much about modding, so I don't know if this is doable. I also did not play 06 (but did play 00, 04, and 07).

Three things that always nagged me were the inconsistency and accuracy of the season and playoff simulations and, team management logic, and since NBA Live 2000, the absence of a graph that charted all of the players' skills over time. It would be wonderful if I simulated the 2008-2009 season 20 times and the only teams to end up first place in the west were the Rockets, Lakers, Hornets, or Spurs (It would also be great if these teams made the playoffs each time as well). I also expect the worst teams to not make the playoffs etc... It would also be wonderful if I simulated the 2009 playoffs 20 times and there was some consistency in how the playoffs progressed. For example, I would hope that no more than 4-5 teams would win the NBA Championship, and I would hope that the Celtics won their first round matchup. I just want to get the feeling that the simulation is actually simulating what would happen in these playoff matchups.

Since I did not have NBA Live 2006, I do not know how good CPU Team Management was. I just recommend that y'all pay attention to it and address any known issues. I see other people have posted similar things, but it deserves reiterating: gameplay is more important than graphics.

While the first two things I do not know are doable, what is doable is the addition of a line graph just like in NBA Live 2000 that charts a player's development in all skill categories. This was an extremely beneficial tool to pay attention to when trading.

I am so happy to see that y'all are creating a game for the PC community. I appreciate all the work y'all are putting in to make the game :applaud: . The first two things I suggested are critical components to a basketball franchise mode that should be payed attention to (if possible). The third is a nice addition that hopefully is not too difficult to do ( I really don't know how hard it is).

Thank you

Well, we're not creating a new game so we're limited in what we can actually modify. We can tune ratings and whatnot to get as realistic performance as possible but the sim engine we're working with is far from perfect so sometimes you do get strange results but NBA Live 06 is fairly good in that regard, on the whole better than 07 and definitely 08 when it comes to simulated performance. Disabling simulated injuries also helps as quite often the top teams will lose a player or two and end up losing more games than you'd expect or bowing out in the first round because they're missing a star player.

Unfortunately, adding additional graphs to Dynasty Mode is not doable. As I said, we're not creating a new game so anything that requires programming is out. We can modify a lot of what's in the game but adding brand new features unfortunately is not possible.
