Some previews...

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Honestly I hadn't noticed, the game calculates the team overalls automatically and I don't focus on them because that's when you underrate/overrate individual players. That's been a problem with the Knicks the past few years too, the players on their roster lead to a high overall rating for the team but as we know they haven't produced a lot of success as a unit. Overall ratings do tend to grab too much attention anyway, with the way they're calculated sometimes we just have to live with an overall that doesn't look quite right.

As I've said before, I can only include what I have permission to include and that startup screen isn't really appropriate for this project (I'm assuming the file would be compatible though). Those sort of things aren't a priority at the moment, I've only included the custom menu art because I had it and as it is it'll be an extra at this point, not a part of the main installation.

No worries. I too am keen to get it out and as I've said before because of the late release I'd certainly like to continue it next year (time permitting) regardless of whether NBA Live '10 comes out for the PC or not since even if it does there will likely be some people with older PCs who won't be able to run it. As soon as we get the urgently needed art, we should be good to go.

Not too much to report but I've got the installation routine ready to go with the art I already have in place and will add the last of the urgently needed stuff as soon as it comes in. I'm also updating the rosters every couple of days in anticipation of the release, which really is getting close. Once again I realise how late it is but hopefully it'll prove entertaining during the offseason and as I said at this point I'd like to keep the updates going for next year regardless of what happens with NBA Live '10.

Andrew will you make a new 2006 patch download section for the new project instead of the old one that has a lot of patch links that's not working anymore.

I don't see why broken links in the current section would render it unusable seeing as though we can clear them out and the NBA Live PC files will be clearly labelled so you know what to download. :? However, I have been considering doing a full package and seperate art packages for people who want to break the download up, in which case I might create a new section for it. Otherwise, it really wouldn't be necessary.

Yea its been tooooooooo long for this roster update to come out
Maybe you could release the official roster patch with the player potraits and jerseys and add some of the courts while you find the remaining ones.........Just my suggestion....

Yeah, well, it's tough when we don't have a whole lot of people working on it and those who are working on it have other commitments that must take priority over a mod for a video game. That's why I released the beta rosters and art pack so people waiting for it would have something to play around with. We realise it's late in the year and that's one of the reasons I'd like to continue it next year now that we'll have a solid base to continue on from with updated art and whatnot (just like the 07/08 updates which are easier to maintain these days) but the fact of the matter is we've had a lot of setbacks which have pushed back the release this far. Fortunately, the wait is almost over.

We actually have all the courts we urgently need, the East All-Stars jersey is the only thing we need for v1.0. I realise it's just one update but since it should only mean a few extra days I'd rather wait and not have to put up with the emails/posts telling me I've "forgotten" to put it in, regardless of any release notes which a lot of people don't seem to read anyway. Knowing that we only need a couple more files before we can do a proper release gives me another chance to doublecheck what we have and make sure the installation routine will compile everything we need and I can fix up any minor things in the rosters as well as keep them updated right to the release.

Im have NBA LIVE 2006 loaded on my computer but I'm gonna uninstall and reinstall again so that I will be ready for the release of project 2006 and I think it will be best thing because if your game is running good then mind should be running the same as well. I know you don't need a bunch of people hitting you up about this and that when it comes to art work if yours is working. Is it possible to have the last official roster patch you made for 2006 way back when.

If you've installed the beta art pack it might be best to get rid of that. A fresh installation isn't required but certainly couldn't hurt. However, NBA Live PC should overwrite most of it anyway.

The installation file will be an .exe file. The download itself will be a .zip file since it will also contain documentation and the same Primacy fix that's in the 07 and 08 updates so you can counteract any Primacy recalculations as you play through a Dynasty (as with 07/08, you'll need to run the primacy .bat file constantly).

Well, as I just said, you really don't need to delete anything as NBA Live PC will overwrite the old files anyway. If you want to though, you can delete everything except lit5on5.ubr, litcz.ubr, litdunk.ubr and xrms.viv.

It should not be a problem for me, I hope...I will just create NBA Live 06 directory, and .exe file will extract all files in there...Then I just transfer the files I desire to my Live 2005 sgsm folder

You shouldn't actually have to do that, you could specify the NBA Live 2005 folder during the installation and then just delete the NBA Live 06 folders it creates under My Documents for the saves. However, I'd still like to do something for 2005 players as well and will look at doing that now that v1.0 is in the final stages heading up to release. If most of the art is compatible then it should be simple enough to do a conversion of the rosters and rig something up, perhaps not one big package but certainly something 2005 users can make use of.

That's one reason why I'm thinking of doing seperate downloads as well as a full package for the Project. Anyway, I'll see what I can do once it's ready to go. :)

Thanks for your help Andrew, your thoughts of doing separate downloads go in good direction :) Also it's very nice of you, if you think of doing something for us - Live 2005 players, even if we are in minority right now (as NBA Live series game users). I know you're very busy with all NLSC stuff (I wonder - do you have a free time for your normal life? :D ), so keep up the good work! (Y)

You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words. :) Fortunately I've found a few ways of streamlining the updates for the older games that I wish I'd employed years ago, which means it should be easier to continue the updates for players of the older games much longer than in the past where I've had to give up one for another.

In case anyone's interested in a status update, we're pretty much in the same position we were a few days ago. Once we get the East All-Stars jersey we should be good to go, I've been keeping things up to date and doublechecking the installation routine to make sure we've got everything. Looks like v1.0 will be around the 66-68 MB mark which isn't too bad given the amount of files included. Anyone still interested in contributing converted headshapes or whatnot I'd definitely like to include more in v1.0 but it's certainly something we can fix up in future versions if we don't get them in time.

Hey Andrew is there any chance I can get an ingame preview of some of my HD uniforms I currently don't have Live 06 installed and no working dvd-rom for another few weeks yet (pc upgrade very very soon). I would like to check script logo positioning and texturing ingame to see if I am happy with the HD uniforms I sent you the other night.
