Just a question...where can I download the art for patch updates to somehow give other players faces...and is there a "how to" in updating player faces and what tools to use??

Thanks and I appreciate all the help I can get.

Some player portraits looks very old and also some coaches have pink faces, everything else is great, the art update works really fine, i have played it for few hours and didn't find anything wrong.
Now, if you need help with rosters, transactions, ratings or starting lineups, i can help.

Again, the beta rosters do not include any art updates which is why you're getting the pink faces and outdated portraits. This is something that will be corrected in the proper release, though you can also download the beta art pack from the "Compiling art" thread here in the NBA Live PC section.

Check out the "Compiling art" thread for a beta art pack. Note that this pack is intended for patchmakers helping out with the project and as such, contains headshapes that are not 100% compatible with NBA Live 06 (ie headbands and goggles don't work with them). Those issues will be resolved for the final release. Several tutorials have been posted here in the Forum and in our Wiki.

Andrew, but i am using the beta art pack from the "Compiling art" thread but also some coaches ( Mike Iavaroni ) have pink faces and one player Luc Mbah Moute, he doesnt nave portrait. When i put his his portait in the sgsm file i can't see him in the game, i don't know why, it works with all others i have downloaded.
Cheers

I've probably converted an old coaches.dbf file that contained an incorrect PLAYERPKG value, I'll double check. No reason Luc Mbah Moute's portrait shouldn't show up unless the name of the portrait update doesn't match his PLAYERPKG.

I'll try to get one up within the hour. (Y)

I didn't touch his ratings, so it's just been calculated that way from the ratings in the 08 update.

OK, here goes.

Basically, all but a few of the faces included in the beta pack are using 07 or 08 headshapes and can't use headbands, goggles or correct hair files, so ideally for customisation purposes we need to convert all of them. However, it's not a problem for every single player since not everyone wears a headband, goggles or has a custom hair file so the following list only contains players who are currently affected by the headshape issue.

Players marked with an * are currently free agents and lower priority

Headbands

Al Thornton
Bill Walker
Bobby Brown
Daniel Gibson
Dee Brown (ddbrown)
DJ Strawberry *
Donte Green
Elton Brown *
Hassan Adams
JamesOn Curry *
Jared Dudley
Jamario Moon
James Singleton
Jeremy Richardson
Josh Boone
John Lucas *
JR Giddens
Julian Wright
James White *
Maurice Ager
Rajon Rondo
Renaldo Balkman
Sean Williams
Shannon Brown

Goggles

George Mikan

Hair

Adam Morrison
Luis Scola
Renaldo Balkman
Robin Lopez
Walter Herrmann
Cheikh Samb
Danilo Gallinari
Jared Dudley
Jermareo Davidson *

I've checked out the issue with Allen Iverson performing High Flyer dunks and unfortunately that seems to be the case in the latest unreleased version too. There seems to be an issue with the dunk packages for inside and outside scorers, changing them seems to mess up FSS though. I'll have to do some further tests and see what I can do about the issue; it's turning into a real pain, but there must be a solution that allows both to work as desired.

I've got some rough ideas. I think I've been going along the right track but haven't actually resolved the cause of the issues. I'll keep working on it, in the meantime I've been keeping the roster up to date so once we've got the FSS issues fixed once and for all as well as the art updated, we can look at a proper release. :)

I think I may have it now. It's actually what I thought it was before, that some dunk packages don't work properly with certain FSS movesets. I had "corrected" this by letting the game recalculate and re-assign FSS movesets and dunk packages, but it appears to have assigned some inappropriate dunk packages. It's just a matter of changing certain player's dunk packages to ones that are appropriate for them but still allow all the right FSS moves to be assigned. A little extra work, but still an easy enough solution.

Hopefully that's it, anyway. It worked for Iverson (his DUNKPACK should be set to 0), it should work with everyone else having issues too.

As I just mentioned on the main page, please feel free to report any players you come across whose dunk package doesn't seem to suit them and I'll correct it with one that's more appropriate but still allows them to perform the right FSS moves (I'll take care of that, you just need to let me know the players you come across). I'll be going through the roster myself of course but just in case I miss anyone, it wouldn't hurt to have a heads up on a few players from you guys as well. :)

Andrew, i have played a few games of NBA 2006 live with your roster and art update and except few mistakes (missing portrait of Luc Mbah Mboute, Mike Iavaroni cyberface) i didn't find anything wrong with that. If you want me to check something else, say and i will do it.
And maybe you should put Nenad Krstic in free agents, he is currently playing in Triumph, Russia, but it seems that he will go back to the NBA, to Oklahoma city Thunders, because he is still a free agent in NBA.
PS- I hope that other portraits that i have sent to you are working good, and that you've got the permission to use them.
Cheers!

How about players performing dunks that they shouldn't? Joe Johnson's another Outside Scorer FSS who's been assigned an unsuitable dunk package. If you come across any others performing dunks that are a bit too spectacular compared to the kind of dunks they throw down in real life, please let me know.

I don't know why Iavaroni's face wasn't showing up though, I've checked and the face file should be there and all the data in coaches.dbf is correct. In any case, it should be fine for the proper release.

Here are the players whom I've experienced inappropriate dunking (mostly Toma-hawk):
Tony Parker, (He has an error in his school; it should be France instead of Belgium)
Stephon Marbury, Allen Iverson, Chris Paul, Mike James, Mike Bibby and Chauncey Billups.

Thanks, I'll attend to them first of all. Looks like it's limited to the inside and outside scorers, High Flyers of course should have those dunk packages anyway.

As explained in the first post in the thread, this is a beta version and does not include art. There is no final/stable release of NBA Live PC yet, though you can get a beta art pack from the "Compiling artwork" thread (I'll edit the title so that's more apparent). The proper release will include all necessary art, I did not want the beta rosters to be big downloads which is why they're don't include any art.

Re: Beta Roster v0.3

It looks like I've got the dunk package/FSS relationship sorted, though there's still a weird issue where switching a player's FSS abilities (ie Ben Gordon from a three point shooter to Outside Scorer) will cause the game to recalculate the dunk package and assign a different one, resulting in them performing a wider range of dunks than originally intended. I don't remember this happening with previous 06 updates and I've tried both Pdub's updated aiact and the original and the same thing happens, so that's a strange issue.

I'll keep working on it but it does present a problem because people are bound to change FSS abilities which means any corrections I perform will be undone and the issue of unsuitable dunks being performed will reoccur. I'll keep working on it, there could be something I've missed.

I'm not much of a techie here but could it be due to the conversion from 08 that caused this since previous 06 updates were done without conversions.
