Which is why I said I'd consider it, but can't promise I'll make the change. I prefer not to boost players too much because of a streak of games. Yao has been playing very well since the All-Star break but his ratings still need to be balanced out by the rest of the season.

I made a couple of updates, but I didn't want to delay the roster further so any specific changes for Defensive Awareness you had in mind will have to wait until v1.08. Still, I look forward to your list and will be sure to consider whatever you come up with in the next version. :)

I would take Joey graham off the "defensive specialist". He was supposed to be from scouting reports, but watching all the raptors games this year he has not been better than an average defender. Morris Peterson better suites the raptors defensive specialist. He draws tons of charges.

Wed Apr 19, 2006 11:32 am

i really dont think anyone on the raptors is a defensive specialist, lol

Fri Apr 21, 2006 2:04 pm

I don't think I've made him a stopper in the game, so that should be fine.

Been a long time

Fri Apr 21, 2006 5:36 pm

Im back people, Ive been away for quite some time and you dont even know the countless nights I spent tripping on the fact that I left everyone hangin but truth is it took awhile to finally get my internet back and when I did I just didnt have the passion anymore. Then I found myself playin my Dynasty and Peja was tearing me up in the playoffs then I stuck 6"11 Jared Jeffries on him and the whole game changed. Thats when I got it back so now I wanna finish what I started.

Ill start with an article I found on this seasons defenders.
http://www.82games.com/pelton17.htm
EDIT: IT WAS TOO LONG

I dont know if this will help you or not Andrew but it could benifit the gameplay of NBA Live. All that bein said I will leave my suggestions.

Player Changes

Earl Watson should be given the stopper ability I think around 90 Defensive awareness rating with 80 stl and 88 quickness would be fair, throughout his career his defense has always been praised I think hes earned his REP.
Best Individual Defensive Game this year: Jan 14 2006 in Win at Milwaukee
Helped Force TJ ford into a 3-13 10pt effort, forcing 2 t.o., wit 2tls.

Nba Live Breakdown
Defensive Awareness: 85 up from 50
Stl: 80 up from 79
Quickness: 85 up from 75
Blk: 9 = 9

Chris Duhon
Spearheads the Chicago Bulls defense which holds its opposition to a league best 42.5%. Not quite a stopper but definately above league average its whats kept him a starter despite of his offensive defficiencys, which he does have.
Best Individual Defensive Game this year: Dec 23, 2005 at Memphis
Damon Stoudemire had his worse game as a grizz while being limited to 9pts, 3ast, 2t.o. and shot 2-10 20% from the field.
Nov 20, 2005 W over LA
Comepletely Shut down Smush Parker held him to 10pts on 3-12 shooting forcing 1 t.o.

Nba Live Breakdown
Defensive Awareness: 77 up from 60
Stl: 68 = 68
Quickness: 79 up from 73
Blk: 1 = 1

Note: Duhon is a good player and leader but I think you overrate him offensively hes shooting 39% a respectable 36 from 3's but he has one of the lowest scoring rates among starting pg's. His fg and offensive awareness ratings should be lowered but Ill leave that for another day.

Quinton Ross
Quite possibly the most underrated player in all of NBA Live, quick hands and feet, should be given the stopper ability based on the fact he is the most impressive defender this side of bruce bowen, hes always gaurding the other teams best player. His on ball D is a major reason the Clippers rank 4th in fg%. Hes had some of the best lockdown performances this year and deserves the recognition. Of course having the best shotblockin duo doesnt hurt, it doesnt diminish his accomplishments.
Ross LockDown List:
Nov 9, 2005 vs Arenas
Hounded Arenas all night forcing him into a 5-21 2 t.o. night.

Nov 5, 2005 vs Sczerbiak and the Twolves
Wally scored 4pts in 36 minutes and shot 1-6 with 3t.o., in their next matchup Wally faired alil better ending up with 5-16 for 15pts.

Feb 3, 2006 vs Paul Pierce
Pierce finished the game with 18pts on 5-15 shooting, 2ast, 2t.o.

Feb 5 vs Mike James
Mike James had 20pts on 5-20 shooting with 4t.o. 3 of which were direct strips by Ross.

Feb 8 2006 vs RIP
Rip had a subpar game by his standards 10pts 5-13 from the field 2t.o.

Jan 25, 2006 vs VC/RJ
Not sure if this one should count VC had a stiff back and with Ross all over him he left the game early come 3rd quarter he finished the game with 3pts in 26minutes on 1-9. The Clippers then switched Ross on R Jefferson who proceded to shoot 1-5.

You get the idea, Clippers start different players depending on matchups its one of their strengths. Ross only starts when there is a scorer/playmaker to be stopped, granted he will get torched by superstars but considering even Bowen gets lit up from time to time its hard to overlook the games where his defense has had a huge impact on the outcome of the game

Nba Live Breakdown
Defensive Awareness: 86 up from 68
Stl: 80 up from 56
Quickness: 86 up from 70
Blk: 20 = 20
Side Note: Did I mention how underated Ross is, his offense isnt a strong part of his game but a slight increase in fg ratings like 68 wouldnt be stretching it and hes also shooting 76% from ft so I would really appreciate if you could raise that from the 70 you gave him.

Shane Battier
The guy is one of few players to avg 1 blk and 1 stl a game, he has the biggest influence on the leagues 2nd best defense and is in top 10 in offensive fouls drawn. Because of all this I think hes worthy of the stopper ability, of course that would up his quickness rating a ridiculous 20 points so its your call on that one Andrew if not stopper then atleast close to it.

Nba Live Breakdown
Defensive Awareness: 85 up from 75
Stl: 70 up from 67
Quickness: 75 up from 65
Blk: 70 up from 50 1.41blks per game is no joke for a sf

Eddie Jones
Miami sorely misses his defensve presence, if you remember the one area the Heat shouldve improved in from the trade was defense at the SF position with James Posey bein much younger, bigger and more athletic than Eddie. It turned out Eddie was probably more deserving than Wade of his all defense selection. His ratings on defense are solid but you might want to give him stopper just a thought. Consider this in 2 very competitive games vs the Lakers, the Grizzlies sicked Eddie on Kobe and did an commendable job.
In 2 games Kobes avg 22ppg on 17-46 (36%), 3.5reb, 3ast, 4t.o. Considering the year Kobe has had I think Eddie Jones deserves a standing ovation. If you thought Ross had a respectable LockDown list then Youll be amazed with Eddies, if holdin Kobe wasnt enough. Heres how the games best scorers performed against Eddie this year.

March 14, 2006 vs Pierce
15Pts 6-14 42% ,2reb, 3ast, 5t.o.

April 4, 2006 vs JRich
9pts 4-15 26% , 4reb, 4ast, 1t.o. in 33minutes
Feb 13, 2006 vs JRich again
10pts 3-13 23% shooting with 3 t.o.

Nov 30, 2005
He held Mike James Scoreless in 19 minutes with 7 fg/attempts in a blowout vs Toronto

Nov 12, 2005 and April, 2 2006 vs Joe Johsnon
17pts on 7-21 shooting one night and
5pts 2-12 shooting and 3 t.o. the next nightm sounds like a good defensive job to me.

RIP shot 6-18 33% for 19 pts
Ginobili shot 3-9 33% for 13pts
Held the great Brent Barry scoreless in 30 minutes of play
In 2 games Redd has avg 24ppg but shot 14-39 35%

And these are some primetime scorers, Im not even goin to bother posting the scrubs hes dominated. All it would take to give Eddie the stopper ability is a plus 10 in quickness. You tell me if hes worthy.
PS Might want to lower his dunkin ability I think 80 is too high for a jumpshooter like Eddie.

These are the most significant player updates, Im sure there are others but they will probably only require minimal changes, Overall your update was great, you had almost all of the best defenders covered. So thanks for takin all this into consideration, I hope I helped and sorry for bein so late, but better late than never right.

I take back what I said about Ross bein the most underated player in NBA Live, its easily Trenton Hassel, Hassel is worthy of Stopper status, theres no doubt hes a defensive specialist let me just throw out some numbers for you.

In 4 Playoff games against Denver he held Carmelo to 15ppg on 5.3-16shots for a ridiculously low 32%.

Quick rundown of his lockdownlist this year.
Jamal Crawford 4pts (1-9) 35 minutes
Ron Artest 13pts (4-15) 5t.o., 2stl
Tracy McGrady 19pts (6-19)
Rashard Lewis 8pts (1-7), 4t.o. in 37 minutes
Caron Butler 19pts (5-13)
Peja 11pts (4-12)
Mike Miller 10pts (3-9)
LeBron James 35pts (11-34shots) If you can make LeBron take 34 shots youve done a great job.
All of these single game matchups were with him and his opponant playin more than 30 minutes. So its not like he held player A to this while playin 10 minutes.

Nba Live Breakdown
Defensive Awareness: 85 up from 80
Stl: 80 up from 25
Quickness: 85 up from 68
Blk: =

There is no way Minnesota starts Trenton 30+ minutes without good reason. Minnesota has alot of problems but Hassel isnt one of them

sounds good to me...

i think kobe would disagree
just kidding. i think he's good too and being a lefty usual helps. i watched that game and mopete was in his face the whole time. kobe was just making tough shots.

Sat Apr 22, 2006 5:02 pm

he is actually the only guy that defends on that team.

Sun Apr 23, 2006 3:22 pm

Yea but that 81pt game no one on that team wanted to play D. They were all watching and didnt even try to double.

Anyone watching the playoffs, Ross is everywhere, I spotted 2 occasions where Cassel missed a rotation but Ross made the play, hes also gaurding Melo extremely well and hes stayin in front of Boykins.

Tue Apr 25, 2006 1:57 am

You're right, Ross is the best defender of his team.

I know right, Andrew please tell me you saw game 2 of that clippers nuggets series. Ross D was on full display for all to see. He had several deflections, a steal, 3 blocks he drew some offensive fouls on melo and held him scoreless for the 1st half. Melo finished with 15pts but shot 33% in the process. Do you think hes worthy of stopper?

Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:54 pm

If you check the latest version of the roster, you'll see I actually made all of the changes you suggested, which I believe gave Ross outside stopper skills or close enough to develop them. ;)

Hi guys a lot of time i dont conect in this site, well this is my tought, where is Luol Deng?I am a lot of surprised because a lot of people dont mention him.
His defense is amazing and he block a lot of shots,i think andrew you should put Luol stopper

Thu Apr 27, 2006 11:29 am

He blocked 50 shots this year, a considerable amount but also considerably fewer than one per game. He will not be made a Inside Stopper.
