Boosting the overall just for the sake of it doesn't make the game more realistic. I can check his individual ratings and if they need an increase then his overall is going to increase accordingly but otherwise I don't focus on it since it just causes more problems.

Mon Jan 23, 2006 11:16 am

maybe he can be given the outside scorer FSS ability? I'm sure we're all aware of his ability to score, he's definitly a big scorer and if hes not going to be rated as high as some of those guys, he should be able to score like them

If not i understand too, just another idea

Mon Jan 23, 2006 11:30 am

I'd have to check his ratings again. If it's a slight increase (say 2, 3 points) to get FSS I might reconsider but if it's grossly overrating a player or boosting for the sake of boosting I'd prefer not to do it. With the way ratings affect simulated stats you have to be extra careful these days.

i think you should boost up the rating of rip hamilton he is one of the better players of detroit and he is a great scorer but he hasn't got any fss ability.

sorry for my bad english but i am from belgium and don't speak it so well.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 4:25 am

Andrew, thanks for your great job. (Y)

Do you add Melvin Sanders (signed by SAS) in next update.
I hope this will release on coming weekend!

Tue Jan 24, 2006 5:57 am

Andrew in the next version or the one after that can you add 2 teams with every slam dunk contest winner on the first one winners up to 95 and the 2nd one the winners from95-curent

As I just finished saying, I don't boost ratings for the sake of it.

Nope. At this point I'd rather not add custom teams due to a couple of complications they cause.

Do you add Melvin Sanders (signed by SAS) in next update.

I'm not sure how often I have to address both of these questions. Anyone who's on an NBA roster will be added. Check the release date if a transaction isn't included in an update. I generally release the patches every two weeks or so, so I don't anticipate releasing v1.05 this weekend. When I have an idea of my next release I'll be sure to update the release date thread accordingly.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 8:26 am

Andrew Josh Davis was signed by Phoenix and hes not on there roster in the patch. Just trying to help :D

Tue Jan 24, 2006 8:59 am

Josh Davis signed a 10 day contract. He is no longer on the Suns' roster.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:28 am

Chucky Atkins was just signed by memphis since washington bought out his contract, so just throwing that out there if you didnt know......

thx

Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:19 am

Thanks but as I've said many, many, many times, I keep up with the transactions and check the roster listings before I release an update, so you do not have to post transactions. The whole point of a roster update is to update the rosters so that's the first thing I check.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:27 am

Andrew, I think we'd understand if you didn't want to continue, these questions are getting ridiculous :?

Giggity Giggity!!

ok.. in houston, they signed john lucas and chuck hayes(?). they have 16 ppl on roster right now.. if they only sign with one person in the end.. lets say hayes, will u add him in game? in v105?

Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:54 am

Chuck Hayes is in the game. He's in the free agents. Whoever ends up on the team fulltime will obviously be on the roster.

carmelo is averaging same as kobe bryant and hinrich this season at 1.3 spg. i think he's steal rating should be at least high 60's.

are you sure about his speed and quickness? he's really quick (probably not on defend) and he has really quick first step.

i think his stamina should be increased slightly.

can you check his primacy rating out too. thanks.

carmelo should at least rank same with lebron in inside scoring i think.
leaders in points in the paint this season:
1.tony parker
2.tim duncan
3. i forgot who.
4.carmelo anthony
5.lebron james

his three point rating should be down to probably 64.

I've got a feeling you don't play with Toronto that often Andrew, so I excuse you for getting these ratings off

Bonner: Shooting .459 from the field and .415 from the 3 line, ratings in the mid 60's just don't cut it. I suggest FG 75 and 3pt 80 (he's shooting pretty much the same percentage as Nash, and he's 18th in the league in % 3 wise). Also, his FT should be higher, at 82% I think that's worth an 82 FT rating.

Villanueva: First some detail stuff; he wears a two-tone headband and his position should be PF/C; he doesn't play SF, at least not for the Raps.
Second, both his FG and FT ratings need upping; he's shooting .479 from the field (keep in mind he's a J. O'Neal type player who shoots a lot), so I think around mid-70's is good; and he's shooting 67% from the stripe, definately worth more then the 33 he has now.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 1:12 pm

i think nocioni is overrated. he shoots at high percentage but probably not enough attempts to give him a high rating.

tony parker is an underrated defender. how can he be 68? while marbury defense at 81 and nash 72.

kobe should be mvp at this point of the season. i think he deserves a boost. i have not been a kobe fan but i just can't deny he is the best player in the nba. his 81 pts yesterday was off the charts but that's not my only basis. he has carried the lakers well the whole season. some may not agree on me. he can score 100 and lead the lakers into the playoffs but his critics will always have something to say. you can say he's unstoppable or maybe a ball hog but i don't think there are many players out there who can score 80 pts even if he holds the ball the whole game.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 1:53 pm

Thanks for the latest, will take it into account for v1.05. :)

Tue Jan 24, 2006 3:07 pm

i know you dont like to boost ratings, and i understand your reasonings, but i know tyson chandler was an 80 overall when the game came out, do you not like to mess with overall ratings much to bring them down to a realistic level? I know there are guys, like i said before (rip hamilton) who isnt 80 and tyson chandler is, do you lower ratings of guys who havent been performing at their level to make it more realistic? Again, sorry if this question angers you or something i'm just trying to get a general feel for what i can suggest

Tue Jan 24, 2006 3:28 pm

In general overrated/underrated players (going by the overall) have been overrated/underrated in a few categories, thus when I adjust those individual ratings to something more realistic the overall changes accordingly.

i second this one... as much as i hate kobe, i think he deserves a little boost coz he is the best player in the nba right now..

also, i think mike james needs a little boost, since he's one of the candidates for most improve player this year.. just look at the nba.com polls

Tue Jan 24, 2006 6:24 pm

A little boost in what categories?

list some categories. Maybe FG and FT or something.

Andrews Roster ist a big help for everyone got no time to check all ratings by themselves.

But he couldn´t get everybody happy with that, so when you think kobe need a boost, tyson is not that good, then tweak the ratings. I use Anderws roster and do some little changes by myself so it would represent the game how i want to see it....so do the same, not everyone has the same point of view.

Tue Jan 24, 2006 7:49 pm

In Kobe's case, it's a matter of what exactly needs boosting? He's already set up to average 30+ (in most simulation attempts) and be a dominant scorer during gameplay.
