Ok, so how do we attached speech files to a created player? I extracted speech files from the PA file, but how do I get them back into that file & match them to my player so they play in-game?

Wed Jan 04, 2006 12:48 pm

Sorry guys, here are the files you can open and test.

audio\speech\arena\xarplhdr.idx
audio\speech\arena\xarnhdr.idx
audio\speech\gamespch\english\xgsplhdr.idx
audio\speech\gamespch\english\xspchhdr.idx
audio\speech\frontend\english\xfehdr.idx
audio\speech\oneonone\xonehdr.idx

as for the dittie:

Will Marv & Steves audio be available for edit soon? I noticed that I can extract their files, but I can't create a new speech file in that file. I was able to edit my name into the PA announcer side, now I just need the capability to add my announcer files! Woohoo!!

Overall, this is a great utility MJ! Hats-off to you!

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:12 am

What is the file that contains the PA announcer's audio? Because that's the only file editable yet, right?

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:52 am

I'm at work so I dont know the exact file name, but go in to the NBA live 06 audio folder & look for a folder named 'arena'. the are three files in this folder. You can do trial & error by opening up all three files with audy. The one that holds the players name being said by the PA announder will have main files that look like this:

0001
0002
0003

& so on. On the right side you will see three sub files per each record (speech id #). You'll find that you can preview these files. Each main file corresponds to the speech id number for a player. You can use players.dbf to reference this. The three sub records are:

2 - name said really excited
1 - name said excited
0 - name said normal

You can extract these file out to a folder & edit them if you want. What I did is took files from two players that made up my first & last name. I then created a new .wav files with them using acoustica media mixer. You can also create .wav files with this accoustica as well. I then created a new speechfile in audy using my playerid & added my three subfiles as wavs. Audy will convert the .wavs & add them to the speechfile (.hdr). Then when you go in game, you should hear the announcer using the files you created for your player. The only issue I had is that the announcer says my players name a tad louder than other names. Not a big deal as you can change the volume with accoustica.

This is just a breif tutorial off the top of my head. GO ABOUT THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Maybe MJ will provide us a more detailed tutorial later. This is what I came up with by playing with audy. Hope it helps somewhat....... :)

Thanks alot for this!

One idea for people getting the error is maybe they dont have microsoft net framework 1.1 installed? Just an idea.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 6:17 am

I actually have Framework 1.1.

Thu Jan 05, 2006 7:23 am

How many secs should I make a ditty?

Thu Jan 05, 2006 8:31 am

Audy will convert the .wavs & add them to the speechfile (.hdr). Then when you go in game, you should hear the announcer using the files you created for your player.

I followed the steps you said and I already have the .hdr file for my created player. I just want to know how I can place it in the game, thanks!

So zigen you have already went through the clicking on the "new" icon (create a speech file process right? If not, then click on that. a box with pop up with the heading "Create Player Speech". Now click on 'add' & search for your .wav files that you want to use. click on your .wav file & the next box will be a drop down box that say PBP Type. Use the drop down menu to choose whether your wav is a 0 -regular tone, 1 - excited tone, or 2 - really excited tone. I inputed my .wav in the order of 2 then 1 then 0 (just like the other speech files in the file). Once you add all three make sure you put your players speech/player id (these will be the same)in the box at the bottom. hit save & the game will save it to the main file. It should show up at the very bottom of the list. Now make sure in your player.dbf file that you have went ALL THE WAY over to the right & put your players Player ID # in the SpeechID column. Check it two or three times by closing it & reopening it just to make sure its there. Then fire up the game, bust a jumper with your player & you should hear your players name said!

It should work. This is what I did. Again this is at your own risk, so make sure you back up your xarplhdr.idx file before you start messing with it.

Hope this helps! :D

Thu Jan 05, 2006 4:13 pm

sounds cool, i'm gonna try it :)

Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:09 pm

Thanks pgh2atl, I actually got it to work yesterday. For some reason, I still need to "import" the files cause it doesn't save directly to the main file. But sure enough it's at the bottom of the list. :)

Btw, is there any way to replace the original speechfiles with the ones we just created?

Thu Jan 05, 2006 10:27 pm

Glad I could help zigen! I'm not sure if your able to replace original files as I haven't tried to do so yet. But there is a 'replace' function that is active in the program, so I would assume you could. Maybe MJ Realm could shed some light on that for us as I am curious to know the answer myself.

Hopefully Marv & Steve's files will become available to edit soon as well. :?:
