Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

wow this is unbelievable, really sick!!!...do i have to press a button to get the CPU to call a certain play?or the AI does it itself?
Sat Oct 08, 2005 7:09 am
The cpu automatically calls the plays, thats the beauty of this, they actually try to play like real life teams.
Sat Oct 08, 2005 8:08 am
Thanx this helps out alot!

I'm going to the remaining plays later this evening. I'll give a brief discritpion of the Defense plays aswell.
It will help guy's understand what the CPU is trying to take away from you when they go Zone, Trap or Press during a game.
The beauty of the entire thing is even in Dynasty mode if a star player gets traded you can refer to this thread and pick plays that will best utilize his skill with his new team aswell.
I actually switched LeBron James 2nd posistion to PG and it's scary realistic because with the Playsets combined with his 2nd posistion change he can rack up assist, rebounds annd points throughout a game. Using this strategy in a test game last night LeBron rotated between SF and PG and finished a game with 21-PT's, 7-REB's and 5-Assist. Those are some impressive #'s by a player being controlled by the CPU. I don't think we have ever witnessed in the Live series before a guy being CPU controlled being a threat to get a TRIPLE/DOUBLE.
In fact I'm sure if the CPU had played LeBron more minutes at PG during the game he would have come close to 10 assist simply because of the Playbooks and his posistion switch. The CPU left Eric Snow on the bench and elected to slide James over to PG vs me in spot duty.

which play does cpu usually does with a sg scorer? one with pg waits in top of the key, then sg goes through low post and looks for screen or push off defender then run to the 3 point line(left side when facing the basket) and receive the pass. sort of the play the pacers use when reggie miller was still playing
Sat Oct 08, 2005 10:17 am
Yeah, once the CPU plays zone I've been a bit lost. It was dead easy in Live 2005 but now they get a hand on every outside shot I take.

I'm still investigating the dbfs and comparing them to last year's files. In the mean time, I think this is definitely worth a sticky.

Awesome! Thanks Andrew for making this a sticky. I think these playbooks make this game 100% better over the 'stock' setup straight out the box.
Let us PC gamers know if you find a way to make these playbooks stick somehow instead of having to re-do before every game.

I'm new to the forums and I have a question. Is there a edit post feature that will allow me to post all the remaining plays within one post?
I described some other Offensive plays in this thread and I can't seem to find a post edit to insert the other plays within that same post.
Sat Oct 08, 2005 11:03 am
There is; you can edit your own posts.

thanks a lot man!!! i got a question tho, if the CPU runs any of the set plays assigned it, does the red circle show? in other words, how do u know the CPU is running some play u assigned them?

Excuse me for my english but I'm a nba french fan new in this forum
I just notice that the SINGLE DOUBLE play is nearly the same that the Milwaukee Bucks use during the 2001 nba Playoffs with their big3:Cassell is distributing the ball to Allen trying to lose his guy using a double screen from Big Dog and Scott Williams. If the defense shut down the screen, Cassell give the ball to Robinson on the other side after getting open by a screen by Johnson.
You can go to this link if you don't understand me:
http://www.nba.com/playoffs2001/feature ... leList(you can also see a lot of play from other teams)
I think a team like Seattle with shooters like Allen and Lewis can use this set very successfully.

This is great, hopefully we can find a way to put these plays for each team. But it only takes about a minute and well worth it! The teams are playing me the way they should...great find.

Listen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the way to save offensive playbook plays!!!!!!!
Still I haven't figured out the defensive plays (the number are different), and the team strategies in offense/defense

but I will search it
So...
Just see this plays with their numbers:
0 - Shooter A
1 - Balance
2 - Rocket Fuel
3 - Triple Threat
4 - Options
5 - Cavalier
6 - Zipper
7 - Sonic
8 - Philly
9 - Rising Sun
10 - Rip Iso
11 - Bulls Eye
12 - Boston
13 - Single Double
14 - Playmaker
15 - Flare
16 - Double Power
17 - Double Back Screen
18 - Power C
19 - High Screen
20 - Power PF
21 - Mid Power
22 - Screen Game
23 - Highflyer SG
24 - Highflyer SF
25 - Shuffle
26 - Scorer PF
27 - Scorer SF
28 - Scorer SG
29 - Shooter B
Go to the playmap.dbf. in the currentdb folder, in My Documents. It isn't inthe saves dbfs.
There search these columns: OFF_1, OFF_2, OFF_3 and OFF_4
Play number 1 is: OFF_3
Play number 2 is: OFF_4
Play number 3 is: OFF_2
Play number 4 is: OFF_1
Put the numbers of the plays corresponding for each team (search in teams.dbf the IDs) in the order Playmaker has set. Close the dbf, and copy it if you want, to originaldb and workingdb.
Play the game!!
I will search for the defensive plays and team strategies now

You are correct my friend and that's why if you take a look at Seattle's Playbook the first play listed is SINGLE DOUBLE. I did my homework on the play and Lewis and Allen were definetly my main reasons for putting in that play.......
As for Milwaukee I treid it for them aswell but the problem is I had to think beyond Booby Simmons and account for Desmond Mason at SF. I would rather have Mason attacking the rim then shooting 3's so that's why I didn't assign Milwaukee that play.
In fact I wanted to make teams play different and some plays you might not see from all teams just to add that strategy difference into games. New York has that play assigned simply because of Crawford and Richardson will be launching plenety of 3's this year.

I don't think so... You can't edit dbf files

Yes.

For now, I could change only the offensive playbook. That Shooter A is selected in "Team Strategy", and still i didn't figure how to change those, and the defensive playbook.
Maybe it is impossible to change those...

The CPU won't give you the advantage toknow what play is being called against you. I think that is great though because you have read and react.
They will mix up the plays very good throughout a game. But yes they will run all assigned plays by the Human player. The key is taking their Team Strategy off of Shooter A and they won't really too much on outside shots as a strategy. They will attack the rim and shoot jumpers with the plays I assigned. Some teams were setup on purpose to shoot more long range shots like Sacramento and Seattle.
But others will setup to attack down low like Charlotte and Memphis. Okafor and Gasol will get a touch on just about every possession before they decide to shoot a jumper with Rush or Miller.
Minnesota is strictly Garnett so be prepared to see him getting plays from all over the court.

dr 13 great find. It definitely works fine. Now if we can only fix the team strategies and the def plays.
