Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

hey guys, newbie here.
i got my copy a few days ago and im experiencing the same problem... and i do think as well that its the clock at the bottom making the game lag... i have another issue as well, when i pause to call timeout or substitute, it takes me quite awhile to click on any of the options (timeout, substitution, stats central.. etc) i dunno if its because of my bad graphics card (built in 32mb for my laptop) but im running on a pentium4, 256mb ram... hmmm can someone help me or give me tips about this? thanks!
cheers!

anyone here who can help me?

thanks!

while this lag seems to have nothing to do with the graphics card for some people... i doubt that a 32mb onboard chip qualifies to run the game.
Fri Oct 21, 2005 10:41 am
oh im not sure if its an onboard chip.. but i think im running with an ATI radeon 7500c driver i think. sorry not really the techie pc type. and after reading a couple of posts here, i decided to download a new driver for my ATI, catalyst, but to no avail. so now i cant really play my nba live coz ive uninstalled my old driver and i cant seem to install a new one. geez. hehe

it's a laptop right? check the manufacturer's website for drivers. they often use different one's than Ati/Nvidia.

threatlockz, some of the changes have helped slightly and the game runs great until the last minute of each quarter....I have worked out a solution to minimise the problem....in the last minute of each quarter, I change the camera from the centre court that I use normally to a high up camera option that is not close to the action....it still lags, but it is a lot more bearable....
I hope EA fix this soon though

Does EA give a f**c?

* For those who are having this PESKY BUG, I have a solution until we get a real patch from EA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what I did:
I downloaded the nice BOL TNT scoreboard created by Lagoa. (
http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic30568.php). And then, I 'hacked' the file in hex editor, tested it and VOILA!.. say goodbye to the 'Last Minute Bug'!!!
It seems that the last minute clock function on *the scoreboard* taxes lots of CPU time, and what I did was pretty simple...got rid the clock function!
As a result, the clock on the scoreboard is no longer ticking. But the shotclock still works as normal, also the clock and shotclock in the game. Just avoid the Press Box and Center Court cam views since you can't see the game clock all the time.
Here is the 'hacked' file, just put it in the sgsm folder :

*UPDATES: Shotclock works now, it didn't start in previous patch.
HAVE PHUN!

Hey radegm, glad it works.
Btw, there's a small update.. you may try to re-download teh file again.
I put back the shotclock to work, both the clock and shotclock didn't work before.
peace out...

Although that patch may be of some use, there are many NBA live players like myself that are dedicated to playing the game under press box camera view.
Has anyone contacted EA about their bug, i'm pretty sure that can come up with a quick bug fix patch or something.

I'm afraid EA won't come up with a bug fix tis year, but i hope i'm wrong here.

thanks for patch....I might finally have the desire to start playing the game again as it was really pissing me off

So does that mean that ppl who are using the Pressbox cam should not download this patch?
Tue Nov 08, 2005 1:09 am
Since this patch stops the scoreboard's clock, the game clock (the one above the rim) is the only place to look at. The problem is you might not be able to see the game clock all the time if you're using Press Box cam. This also happens to Center Court cam because of it's limited view angle.
But alternatively, you can always have the 10 second shotclock reminder on the scoreboard, 5 seconds audio beeper towards the end of period, and the announcer's 2 minutes warning to cope with the "frozen" clock on the scoreboard caused by this patch.
So, I don't see any reason not to try this patch just because you're using the Press Box cam.

Awsome, thanks man.. I'll consider it.. so when you're talkin about the scoreboard clock, you mean the clock beneath the score on the bottom left corner right?

My specs:
IBM Thinkpad T42
1GB memory
32MB ATI Radeon 7500
40GB harddisk.
well your vid card sucks.everythings nice but your vid card is so terrible it will barley play anything.go to best buy and pick up a 512mb card.dont be cheap or youll get lag.yo also might have to considder more harddisc if you at leat used up 50%.

Is there a way to hack it so that the clock just disables the tenth of a second function? I'm assuming no, but it can't hurt to ask.

It's near to impossible to disable just the tenth of a sec function bcoz the clock function is hardcoded. So our last hope is an official patch from EA.

I have no problem with this...
Sun Jan 22, 2006 4:33 am
I have the same problem. A fix was posted here but the link no longer works.
This was the link:
rapidshare.de/files/7299943/nolag.zip
Could somebody please repost this link or the file. The file stops the game clock from going into microseconds (i.e 45.3 or 2.4) which is what causes the lagging.
Please post it or else it is impossible to play a close game. THANKS!!
Sun Jan 22, 2006 9:28 pm
Come on, can somebody post it again I need it too.
Tue Jan 24, 2006 5:38 pm

Ok, the new link is up:

Maybe this thread should be stickied.
Sorry for the plain jane overlay scoreboard. That's all I got, atm.

It's OK, thanks for this man.

I HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM AND I FIXED IT!!!!!
I think it has something to do with ATI drivers and it's support to NBA LIVE 06, download catalyst 6.1 it fixes it.
