you mean his overall is higher? that doesnt mean he is better. Just that he has higher ratings in more categorys. Probably like Pass, Dribble, Speed, Quickness, 3 point shot, FT, etc.
This sig was too offensive for the kids.

Josh Smith 80??? I hope it is not going to be in the game. Just because he won the dunk contest it doesn't mean that u have to put him right next to Magette or Bibby!

im guessing they'll tweak the ratings a bit (but not a lot obviously, ea is too lazy to tweak these things imho) more because as you can see, the rosters arent to date, finley is still with the mavs.

It's amusing how some people fret about the ratings. Even if the ratings are on point or way off, you always have the option of tweaking them when you edit the players.

Michael Redd- 76

I love Redd, I really do, but let's be real, he's very one dimensional offensively, and a weak defender, what do you expect? In addition to that, he's not that athletic either :?

Gilbert Arenas- 88

I have to agree with your thumbsup here. In 03-04, they ranked him pretty low for a guy who even though he was injured average 20-5-5 the previous year, 1.9 steals, and shot 37.5% from 3PT range.

All in all, we can edit ratings...

EA always does horrible with ratings. That's why we we'll have quality rosters such as Andrew's in short time after the release. (Y)

Now that I think about it, last year's rating system was better. There's no distinction between the good players and the superstars. How can Andre Iguodala be an 83? Tayshaun an 84??

WHAT?? Giving dirk only 86 is stupid!! Come on, he was third in mvp election, and he's definitely one of the best 5 players in the league. But every year, he doesn't make it to the all star team etc. in nba live... why?

i think the next step into ratings is to take size/height into accout in order to calculate the overall rating/value of the player. trading a decent pg/sg/sf for a decent center/pf doesn't happen too much in real life. take a look at the contracts of eric dampier, tyson chandler, samuel dalembert, etc...

Agreed, Jordan on this scale would then be 120. LeBron is nowhere near Jordan yet and he is a 95... 4 away from Jordan.

Ratings should be different for bigmen and guards. Inside scoring, blocking etc should play a bigger role on the overall. In guards, shooting and passing...

As long as his individual ratings are good, does it actually matter what his overall is? No. He doesn't block as well as the other bigs, isn't much of an offensive rebouner, and is not a jumper. He has nice handles for a big, and is a very good shooter and scorer, good defensive rebounder, and a good passer for a big.

He should probably be about an 88 if you're think overall skills wise, but I don't know how things will average out.

LeBron @ 95? What a joke.

T-Mac should be about a 107 then.

Lebron is a better passer [a lot better], stealer, equal dunker [probably has a higher rating] and jumper, slightly better rebounder statistically, a lot stronger, better finisher and inside scorer, and a little lesser overall scorer. He lacks in man to man defense, and outisde shooting [though by very little now since they use percentages], but the margin he has from everything else is bigger than Tmac's margin there.

Remember in real life Lebron is right there with Tmac as a player, and is a abd defender, so in a game where defensive awareness is only one rating, and everything else has multiple, who do you expect to be better.

I still don't understand how this isn't common sense to people by now...

One thing I do agree on is that the rating system needs tweaking, I think I could come up with a better system, but that's for another day.

Where's Ron Artest?

The Detroit team as a whole have really high ratings. Otherwise, it seems fairly balanced, but some players are a little too overrated. Like Yao Ming

i don't think so
equal dunker

 lebron better dunker than t-mac lol ;p
and jumper

t-mac has 43 vertical (106 cm) when lebron "only" 35 vertical (89 cm) so t-mac jump higher
and inside scorer

 they are hmmm the same ;p

t-mac has better a lot better shooting then him he run quicker and jump higher lebron is stronger an taller he isn't better than t-mac
