The 3-point shootout is much worse than the Slam Dunk Contest.

We still enjoy the dunkcontest, really :D. We play with Nintendo Game Cube with 4 players, maybe people that hates it is people that plays it alone most of the times. But its a nice minigame to play a pair of times per week. (Y)

different commentary, same look, except for the houston 06 sign. the judges table thing looks exactly the same as 05's. The game isnt looking all too different from 2005...i guess ill have to wait till it comes out then rent it to see.

The lighting does suck. While it's technically good, it isn't what they have in the real dunk contest. What's worse, the lighting actually distracts from the dunk. You can't even see the finish of the dunk because the lights go out on the player while he's finishing. It seems like the NBA Live dev team thinks a dunk, or a play, ends the moment the ball goes through the hoop, as evidenced by the auto instant replay used in regular games, too. It doesn't look like a real, broadcast replay. I was hoping the presence of the ESPN license would correct this, but it doesn't appear so.
Well, I guess I'll have to make another dunk court patch like last year's where I got rid of those stupid star spotlights. I just hope I can increase ambient lighting, too.
One other thing I was hoping for is the ability to click through the player walking up to take his turn in the competition. It was annoying to have to sit though that part when I could click through the intros and replays. It just made the contest needlessly longer.

I know what you're talking about. It's always kind of pissed me off that hey have the atmosphere that they have; if their gonna have flashing lights and dimmed lighting, how about having after the actual dunk like it's been the last few years in real life. If I could choose from having the flashing lights and all of that, or just to have it plain and simple, I would go with the later without a doubt.

The ESPN licence don't take affect until 2006 though, so EA won't have the rights for it until NBA Live 07, which I am hoping will have the presentation similar to what the 2k series have.

Does this meen you'll stick around for patching in 06? :)

I'm disapointed with the no changes in dunks i thought it was going to be create a dunk addition this year or is that for next gen only. yeah the amtosphere thing does suck along with the lighting.

In years past similar lighting has been used during the real dunk contests, though admittedly it's not quite as dark.

With the lighting or dark there will be dunks of that stupid screen or shoot clock again, and that is realy poor, Realism please, like in real NBA, ha' i think that we need a new name for the dunk contest- i would called it Alien dunk contest 2006.,nevermind.

It bothered me at first, but I'd rather the main game be as realistic as possible before the slam dunk contest gets an overhaul. I don't really mind the way the dunk contest is now, it's a sidegame that doesn't really need to be too deep...I agree, a little more realism would be nice but I still find it a fun alternative when I don't feel like playing a full, regular game.
