That's not the point. The point is, some of these dunks are absurd, a lot of them that you never see in real life, regardless of how frequent it will happen. As for Howard over Shaq, Shaq might not be able to jump at the time, but he sure as hell is going to contest it.

I agree with Cy, some of the dunks are ridiculous. And just because someone has a dunk rating does not mean they dunk very frequently. Like Mike Bibby, he has a dunk rating in the game, yet it seems everyime he's alone with the hoop he does a stupid one hand dunk. We need custom moves and authenticity when it comes to players. Like Ginobili's splitting shuffles through a double team, or Tony Parkers "Raindrop" , and Dirk's pausing fadeaway. It's not a matter of how will EA Sports do this, but when. They can do this right now if they wanted but need to span things out through the years, or else every years' game would be the same. Those are just some small things that need to be looked over, other than that I'm happy with the NBA Live series. :D
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

They did have a "cool" steal animation in 2005 though. I'll never forget Live 2004's swatting the ball off the court and into the stands everytime you blocked a shot, it was like playing volleyball or something.

Couldn't agree more. I'm a Kings fan, and I cringe when I think about Bibby on a fastbreak in Live '05, because it's a guarantee, he'll do that same one handed dunk 100% of the time. It just makes the game boring.

EA needs to learn two things:
1. Variety is very important.
2. Dunks don't have to be crazy/unrealistic to be exciting. Most of my favorite dunks in real life are very basic, just with a certain flair of the arms or legs and perhaps throw it down extra hard. With EA it seems like there are two kinds of dunks, ugly / plain as can be slams that make you want to turn the game off, and outrageous slams that take away from the games realness.

Nothing would please me more then to see some nasty regular dunks in Live '06. Just some something stylish, like you might see Lebron do, not a 360 or windmill, just something powerful, exciting, and smooth. EA has not had anything close to this since 2003. Granted '03 had a lot of outrageous slams, but it still had it's fair share of nice plain ones. Also, the NBA Street series actually has a lot of great modest/very realistic slams.

Nah was definitely 03. Actuall played this again a few weeks ago and realised how bad the shot blocking really was.

All they have to do is emulate 2K5's gameplay which is far superior to Live - at least in the realism aspect of things.

Yeah I looked back over the forums, it was 03. I didn't get 04 until late so that's why I got them confused.

You're right about 2K5, I've been playing it the last few days again and it's far superior.

I actually bought it yesterday to get me through til the new release bball games. The gameplay is so much better! When you get a steal, he fast break is rewarded, when you inbound from an opposition score, you actually have to penetrate their defence! It's like... OMG, simulation basketball! 8-)

As long as the fix the jersey edit bug, add a couple more dunks and make the "Association" Mode a little more user friendly, then I will pass on Live, which becomes more of a circus every year (I'm sorry, but ASW wasn't high on my list of things that need fixing in NBA Live  ). I have been a loyal Live customer for 10 years, but enough is enough - every year they under deliver, with only marginal changes from the previous year's game. :x
