Fri Feb 24, 2006 5:45 pm

Hey could anyone send me the playbooks for the NBA Live 06 to my e-mail, chaodck@gmail.com.

Question : How would the Knicks playbook be affected by Francis' appearance, also how the other newly trades will affect other teams' pbooks.

Thanks for everything.

FAR AS PLAYS FOR PFs I only see two really being utilized. However there are quite few plays that are really good depending on the personnell on the floor.

1. Power PF-- A Superior Talented Pf or a PF who has the strength to back down his defender and execute a variety of post moves on the low blocks.
2. Scorer PF-- A PF who has the ability to score with his back to the basket aswell as facing the basket.
3. Flare--A PF with good range, also pf who can take their defender off the dribble.
4. Double Back Screen--A PF who's athlectic and quick, a little shooting touch wouldn't hurt.
5. High Screen--A PF who has good offensive Awareness and who has decent rang
6. Rising Sun--Athlectic, quick, dunker, a shot wouldnt hurt.
7. Balance--Definetly for the PF or C that doesnt have a lot of skills, it puts them right in front or on the side of the basket to get off a high percentage shot, with the chance of getting an offensive rebound.

The truth is, every position is loaded with plays. Some of the plays have multiple options and variations. I appreciate the fact that (In this version of NBA Live) EA has tried to capture the realism of the NBA Game and it's players. This year, you have to use the right personell on the floor, in order to run succesful plays. What a great game!

That's wrong. The plays have nothing to do with rosters, they are in playmap.dbf. It doesn't have anything to do with players.dbf, teams.dbf or anothers...

Just to be sure, first do those roster changes (that trade), and THEN copy the last playmap.dbf uploaded by engies to the currentdb folder in My Documents. Then, if you want, replace the plays for those specific teams (I am pretty sure that with the instructions I gave in the first page and in my previous post everybody should be capable to do that without problems)

I did that.
I made all my roster changes, saved them.
Exited out of Live back into windows.
Put playmap.dbf into the My Documents current db folder
And bang ... all the playsets revert back to NBA Live standard - and not yours.

This is very frustrating, because I find your playsets make the game 10000 times more enjoyable ... but without current rosters, it's pointless.

OK. I figured it out.
You have to move playmap.dbf and teams.dbf to the folder.
You can't simply move playmap.dbf alone

Now I just need more up to date playmap.dbf and teams.dbf files.

I download the versions from page 3 of this thread, which are dreadfully out of date.

Anyone with up to date files?

Please e-mail me: daveintell@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance for any help.

A HUGE BIG UPS to Andrew, youve out done yourself. I couldn't stop playing this game after this last roster update. What really made it great was the Playbooks. The Teams play even more realistic now! Thanks dude for all your work. I am loving this game!

His rosters don't change the playbooks:

NBA Live 06 NLSC Current Roster Update
Description: This patch contains updated rosters for NBA Live 06. As well as including the latest transactions it updates player positions, jersey numbers and bio data as well as player ratings for more realistic performance during gameplay and simulation. It also adds: updated 2006 East & West All-Stars teams and the 2006 Rookie/Sophomore teams (both with accurate lineups), missing legends (such as Michael Jordan) complete with cyberfaces by glen10892 as well as a few faces for other missing players; updated coaches (including Kobe8Rice41's Pat Riley & Bob Hill updates); updated teamgear (by ESRyder312); adjusted primacy ratings for better shot distribution. The rosters in this patch are accurate as of March 7th, 2006. Please note that this patch is for the PC-CD version ONLY and cannot be used with any of the console versions.

Sorry If I didn't give proper credit to the person (or persons) that made the playbook in the latest roster. One thing I do know is that the playbook has been updated. The plays that are in the latest roster release are different from the past roster updates.

For example, look at the Piston's plays. I don't agree with them because It doesn't highlight Rip as the primary scorer, by coming off of screens for his patent mid range game. Also look at Dallas and the plays that are assigned to that ball club.
It fits Dirk to the Tee. Look at the clubs and the new plays that are assigned to them, then tell me that the playbooks havent been updated.

Hi!

I would like to ask you how i can use playbook at OnLine plays? So for example I would like te use Diamond and 1! What should I do, and how? :)

OKay I figured it out. I reformatted my computer and re-installed the game. So it's back to the default playbooks for each team. Which in my opinion is better than the playbooks that are out there.

Yeah but play every team atleast once then comeback and tell me if you see any of the the teams running Zones, Presses and Traps?

That's the difference with Playmakers playbooks. He actually has teams switching up defenses during the game instead of every team playing the same man to man defense for all 4 qtr's. On the Default setup you won't see any difference in the way teams play defense.

His playbooks also help to allow the best scorer's touch the ball and put guy's like Lamar Odom out high initiating the offense sometimes. LeBron James post up with playbooks. The Default will use certain plays for each team but how many of the little things like Odom up high or Bron donw low will you see using the default plays?

Also if guy's get traded the Default playbooks don't adjust for personel changes.

Fri Mar 17, 2006 1:31 am

I've downloaded the playmap.dbf file from rapidshare.

Where can i find the teams.dbf file?

Thanx.

Uptempo,

I agree with you 100% about the Teams running Different types of Defenses.
However, the problem I see with Playmaker's playbooks is; he uses the same two plays for all power forwards. The default playbook, uses all the plays available for power fowards.

As I said earlier:

FAR AS PLAYS FOR PFs I only see two really being utilized. However there are quite few plays that are really good depending on the personnell on the floor.

1. Power PF-- A Superior Talented Pf or a PF who has the strength to back down his defender and execute a variety of post moves on the low blocks.

What I dont like about the default playbooks is that the plays for the shooting gaurds seems to be limited and Playmaker has utilized it a bit more.

Far as Playmaker's playbook, He has helped to improve the game play by leaps and bounds. However, there are at least 7 different plays for power forwards but he only uses two 90% of the time. You gotta include the Flare for Dirk, Webber, sometimes Rasheed and other Bigs with outside touch or ability to drive.
Then you got the Balance, for players like Omeka Okefor, Ben Wallace and less talented PFs on the offensive end.

I knock EA bigtime for not making enough plays for the Gaurds. There should be far more plays to get the guards wide open shots, but this is the best Live Ever.
The Default playbook is totally wrong for the Pistons.

He actually created 2 sets of playbooks. For instance if you go to the begginning of the thread on page 1 you'll see his very 1st set of assigned plays for each teams. Those playbooks are more mixed with quite a few plays that you have listed for the PF's.

In his second set of playbooks I think he said he was trying to balance out the mid range game and low post game on most teams playbooks. So, he went and added the two basic PF plays (Scoring PF and Power PF) to each team that has big time PF's in their lineup.

I use his very first set of plays but here's what he said about the 2nd set he created:

I went and re-built every teams Playbook. A few post up you'll see all the teams listed. I tried to get them close as possible to actual play. Dallas has a 2nd playbook simply because Dirk Nowitzki is unlike most PF's he plays on the perimeter mostly and in order to make Dirk effective facing the basket in games you play vs Dallas you'll need to switch him to Sf in the starting lineup before you start a game.

I posted info of this in the Playbook thread to explain further. I tried to create more balance by mixing in mid range plays and low post plays. Hopefully this gets most PG's looking to dish first instead of drive. But for guy's like Iverson I wanted to keep them in an attack mode.

If a team has a top notch PF you will most likely see two plays assign to that player. They still won't take all the shots but it was setup that way in order for the teams like Minnesota, San Antonio or Indiana to run their offense through the low post first. Again though the PG's is key you most stop their initial penatration then they will run the assigned plays.

Keep in mind most NBA teams especially today are attacking the basket more than before.

Just wanted to re-hash:

1. Is there an updated playmap.dbf & teams.dbf (based on playmakers' last update) available for download?

2. Anybody still working on figuring out how to add defensive plays?

Thanks, Tibs

anybody know if this is correct? Do the latest NLSC Rosters also include updated playbooks for each team?

If not then how can I get updated playbooks for each team? Do I need to update teams.dbf and playbook.dbf ? And if so can I still have my up-to-date rosters?

If I need those files please send them to noslen@gmail.com

At the risk of destroying a placebo effect...I haven't used Playmakers playbooks in any of the NLSC updates.

Correction for the second time

Read before you post, it well save you time and others time.

As I said, I reformatted my PC. That means that I erased the operating system and everything that was on the C: Drive.

Then I re-installed live, that means that I had the original Playmap or the original plays. So to correct my self again, so that the people who don't read the post will understand. [b]I made a mistake, It was the original playmap and not Playmaker's set. [/b

I'm confused because even if you set the computer to play zone, they still play man to man....

If your setting up the CPU's defense in the exact order I have the plays listed defensively you'll see them switch up to zone, traps, and press defenses occassionally in a game.

It is also important to set their team defensive strategy aswell. If your doing something different from what posted defensively for their playbooks then chances are they will play man to man all game. The order in which I assigned the defensive plays in each slot is very crucial.

does anyone know which play the raptors use with Morris Peterson? for basically every first posession of the game for the raptors, the point guard sets up from about behind the 3 point line, peterson then goes from the left without the ball, runs the baseline and rolls off of two screens and receives the ball from about the right corner of the freethrow line, he then has an option of getting an open jumpshot or finish at the basket.

thanks if you can find out.
