you know what could really be cool, after every game have a little post-game show, for ex. if u play as the LAKERS, u have like Paul Sunderland ( i miss u Chick ) and Stu Lantz who always do the play-by-play for u, at the end, say for LAKERS play at home, u have Jack Haley, and those other guys on the FSN Sports Report, if ur game is like the game of the week, it should be played on TNT, at the end of the game, u have Kenny, MAgic, Chucky Chuck, and the other guy, giving post reports about your game, and some around the league. Like a post-game report for all games.

i am quite happy with nba live 2005 has.....except for 2 things

1. no ridculus blocks....(centre averaging 10+ blocks per game in a season... = =)

2. no catchup by comps when they are down by 20+ points...everytime...when i was up by 10+ points, i starting to miss every single damn open dunks and layups!!!!

plz plz change that...EA...

Wed Dec 22, 2004 10:26 am

1. Concentrate on improving the gameplay even more or at least on not making it worse. And on fastbreaks, please let Steve Nash throw a nice and well timed pass on a pretty regular basis without forcing his teammate to stop, jump up and grab the ball, then turn towards the basket only to realize that Danny Fortson and a snail ran past you in the meantime... also if for example Jason Richardson catches the ball while running, the computer tends to run past him no matter whether the AI player has crutches or actually is a limping Karl Malone... reward good defense with easy points (if you have a running and gunning team that likes to execute on the fastbreak).

2. Please let players in online play SAVE the game when the connection gets lost. You can commence from the point that the game was interrupted instead of having to either play till quarter 3 with 2:36 minutes to go and a score of 65-72 again and then go on from there or play one quarter and 2:36 minutes and then add the scores together...

3. Please improve online coding (as well as the most aweful excuse for a chat console i have ever seen - and not only is it ugly, stupid (how many chars can i use for one message?? 20????) and disturbing, using it also makes the game crash on various occasions), i am sure the lag issue can be resolved pretty much with a decent coding.

4. Let us export online game stats again... shall i even try to explain how much the missing export stats feature ruins the game (especially in online leagues)?

On a sidenote: thanx for the patch, i just read the good news. i will install it as soon as i get to my pc! but the time until now was so frustrating, i couldn't possibly describe the pain and agony... well, i could: i was REALLY considering starting up an NBA LIVE 2004 online league with a friend, despite the worse gameplay...

Finally: thanx for the effort you put into developing the game to its current version so far. there have been years i regretted spending money on your product, and i vowed not to touch any other nba live again ever... fortunately i do not have the strongest will and i am also very forgetful...

One thing I've always wanted to see is a handedness slider. Instead of a player being only right- or left-handed, they'd have a certain tendency towards one hand; the better they could use their weak hand, the closer to the center the slider would be. Obviously, there's no center slot, but the 2 closest to it would be essentially ambidextrous, only deciding which hand takes jump shots.

I thought it was a good idea, anyways.

Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:18 pm

haha interesting idea. i think almost all these ideas r awesome, but only improve the presentation of the game, not the core of it. and i doubt EA will make an effort to improve presentation (god forbid!)

thats wat espn games hav... a good presentation, but i feel the core is bad... while nba live has a good core, but lack of presentation

in other words, give us the ability to make hard fouls, give us the ability to get T'd up, give us the ability to watch half-time shows, and most importantly, give us the ability to be ambidextrious!

Thu Dec 23, 2004 1:26 am

1. Passes
Every pass must have the shape of an arc. Nobody can pass the ball in a straight line. This applies especially to lob passes and alley-oop passes, which look like the alley-oop passes from NBA Street. And please slow down the speed of the passes. When I inbound the ball and nobody could catch it, the ball would go flying to the other end.

2. CPU
Please make the CPU become smarter. Everytime they are down big late in the game, they will try to shoot 3 pointers over defenders. Make them use set plays to get open shots, not just by breaking others' ankle.

Other things:
The CPU always push the players out of bounds. Either fix this bug or add a pushing foul. It would be great if you do both.

When rebounding the ball, the person who jumps first will always push the person who jumps later. This needs to be fixed. And tip-ins are too easy! Maybe you should reduce the height of the jump when they go for a tip-in.

Please fix the fastbreak.

The defender gives the dribbler too much pressure!! Even on a fastbreak!

Make instant replays accessible ALL THE TIME! Especially after a buzzer-beater and not to mention after subtitutions.

What I would like EA to include:
More variety of the way the ball bounces off the rim. More rattling in-and-out and more use of the backboard.

Off-the-backboard alley-oop pass. Usually when the passer is in front of the finisher.

Show replays of buzzer beaters!! And replays of 2pt jumpshots, too, not just layups and dunks.

More dunks in the Dunk Competition.

More PRESENTATION!!! And more necessary sliders from ESPN 2k5.

Better rating system.

Maybe you could reduce the force field surrounding the players like ESPN 2k5.

And of course almost everything else everybody has mentioned.

Phew...
btw, good job on NBA Live 2005!

Keep it simple stupid

Thu Dec 23, 2004 5:19 am

Andrew, ignore some of these wishlist requests - some of them are downright stupid. (player personalities?, new shoe styles????) Let's send EA a list that they can actually work on, (i.e. bugs or universally desired changes.). Maybe you can put a voting poll on your website for ranking the most desired wish items in 2006.

In order of priority

1. In game save feature - we've begged for this for years since they took it away.

2. Replays that actually re-play. - I hate it when I do a nasty dunk and all I get is 5 milli-seconds of cached video that shows the defense inbounding the ball. EA needs to keep at least 15 seconds of video in the cache AT ALL TIMES.

3. Get rid of stupid stuff - flashing NBA Live logo when changing posessions.

That's all. If you ask for 1 or 2 things, they may give it to you. If you ask for 50 million, they'll ignore you.

Thu Dec 23, 2004 6:03 am

sry buddy, maybe ur downright stupid

presentation in a game matters. stuff like post game shows and player personalities help make nba live much more enjoyable to play... and these posts are sayin that they would be a nice addition... no1 said we HAVE TO HAVE IT OR ELSE NBA LIVE 2006 WILL SUCK

obviously fixing bugs in gameplay, and making gameplay better, is the most important, and the 1st priority... however that doesnt mean asking for more rattles around the rim is stupid, because its not

Thu Dec 23, 2004 10:49 am

Donte Thomas wrote:that also i say what about personalizing your shoes, like for us people who dont have the stuff pc-cd users can do with the colors of shoes, say if u create a player for the lakers, u want the hurache kobe wears but they only have them in those regular colors, u might wanna match, so i was thinking about like a nikeid.nike.com thing, pick where u want it, get it, and bam, u're done.

Good Idea? :|

AND PLEASE.........IN GAME SAVING IS ALL I CARE ABOUT.

Thu Dec 23, 2004 11:14 am

no thats a bad idea, but not all presentation ideas r bad

Fri Dec 24, 2004 4:39 am

So we ignore improving gameplay and just ask to be able to in game save and have replay?

Replay's are part of presentation, I'd rather have improved gameplay than replays and I'd rather worry about more options in Dynasty or more ratings than getting rid of the annoying logo that flashes at you all the time which would be another presentation wish. I'd rather be able to run a fast break properly more than 1 out of 10 times than have in game saves even though I'd love in game save though.

Gameplay > Dynasty > Presentation

King_James88
More variety of the way the ball bounces off the rim. More rattling in-and-out and more use of the backboard.

Definately

Better rating system.

:applaud: I have a ratings thing on page 2, they won't have that many, but that's how they should think of it, and please, pretty please let next year's game have TENDENCY SLIDERS

Presentation is definately important to the game, but take care of the other areas first before taking care of presentation.

Fri Dec 24, 2004 4:41 am

im not really sure if this has been mentioned or not due to that im too lazy to read all :P

but for me, for now i just want offensive and defensive rankin..so sometimes the commentor can say like "The #1 team defense in the league vs the #1 team offense in the league, what an exciting game!" something like that at the beginning...I just like this because I want to know what my team stats rank in the league

I agree with most of your rating suggestions. EA's rating system just sux a bit. How come in the game the make the Kings too much powerful? I know they're a great team, but every time I simulate the NBA Finals, they always win.

I wonder what's wrong with EA. Instead of fixing the bugs from 2004, they ran away from it and covered it with the All-Star Weekend.

The most important things to fix:
1. Gameplay bugs and flaws

followed by
2. Presentation (Including half-time shows and all that)

And then focus on those new features we have suggested.

I have a few more minor suggestions:
Better graphics for the PS2 version
Make an easier release point for all shots (Everytime I released the ball 1 milisecond too late/early, the shot would miss)

Everytime I contest a shot 1 milisecond too early, the computer thinks I am pump-faked and draws the foul. WTF?? :?

Pickup game (2on2,3on3,4on4)

Better atmosphere - Increase the crowd volume so that it feels like I'm really in the game.

Make fadeaways easier to drop for superstars! And fadeaways should really jump backwards more! The current fadeaway jumpshot is too easy to block!

And how come in the dynasty mode there are more away game wins than home game wins?? This needs to be fixed.

It's up to EA to include these suggestion.

My wishlist

Fri Dec 24, 2004 3:45 pm

1. Trading Block
2. 3-4way trades
3. up to 10 man trades. (that's how the rockets first acquire steve francis the greatest)
4.Skills Competition added to all star weekend.
5. better fastbreaks (the cpu always sprint up the floor and stop at the 3 point line)
6.owner mode(like madden 05)
7. Ability to break records, like career high, or a nba high and have it annouced during games.
8. Ability to say created players name, it could be a list of name like
Firstnames Lastnames
Antoine Lane
Carl Johnson
Nam Tran
Bobby Brown
And so on, just a few examples
9. Ability to create teams, and abilty to say the teams name.
10.Summer leagues,Minor Leagues,Pre-season games, and ability to have a practice mode for teams, and players in dynasty mode.
11.Better commentation, the commentation makes the game boring real fast. It should be diffrent words said every game.
12. pre-game, halftime, and post shows. And highlights done after everygame by the TnT crew.
13.Freestyle passing and dunking.
14.Much better Scouting Reports.
15. Ability to get a Tech or a Flagrant.
16.Have a more crunker croud(when you beat a championship team, or hit a game winning shot, the croud just sits there.) also have the players react, to them hitting a game-winning shot. Or have them get a tech by reacting to a bad call, or a no call.
17.Ability to fire, hire, and create coaches.
18.Have players complain, and want to leave the team, because of minutes, money, term of contract, or because the team just sucks.
19. Have the players have they eye on the ball example:(alleyoops, on some alleyoops they don't even look at the ball it just flys in thier hand and they pt it down)
20. More power dunks shaq dunks look weak.
21.Don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever put in the ability to break the rim nor the backboard.
22. Have live reports on other games or information around the league. Have it annouced during the game. Have it Annouced and video clips of another game, an injury, or a trade during timeouts, pre-game,halftime, postgame, or the sportscenter like show with the tnt crew that i requested.
23.Oh yeah almost forgot signature shots, not just in the 3- point competition, but during the game also. And have the ability to pick how your created player jumper will be. oh yeah and a better create a player system, it takes too D**n long to create a player

PUT EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE IN THE GAME, IF I FORGOT SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE THE GAME BETTER ADD THAT ALSO. IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS GAME THE BEST IN BASKETBALL VIDEOGAME HISTORY.

Probably the easiest feature to implement

Sat Dec 25, 2004 5:05 am

Since I think we hav years to go before we have realistic gameply, all I'm asking is that the PC gets its own interface. Higher resolutions, proper keyboard and mouse support, etc. It really gets me down having to view only 4 columns of big-ass 640x480 stats on my 19" monitor...

Mon Dec 27, 2004 7:24 am

I want the damned computer to stop cheating.

I want to be able to get out on a fastbreak for once. I want the number of blocks in a game to be realistic. I don't want my damned jumpers getting blocked every third time.

I want the shooting percentages to be realistic. I want to be able to hit open threes. I want my damned hand check button back so when the computer DOES cheat, I can knock one of its players on his butt.

Presentation is secondary, I want more realism in the game. Rookies shouldn't all have terrible athleticism and weak shots; some players come into the league with SKILL and physical gifts, you know...

The rating system needs to be dramatically altered so physical gifts don't alter the rating as much. I know of plenty of players that have all the physical gifts in the world and suck. EA needs to totally redesign the rating system.

Better trade interface would be very nice. Actually doing what they said would be nice, too, like removing the catch-up bug and the come-back bug.

Mon Dec 27, 2004 7:40 am

also allow 640x 840x 16 resolution for pc

Tue Dec 28, 2004 8:47 am

this my of thought written of improvement(real enough obvious ,possible to introduction by ea)
and not about type "less blocks","real statistics"

more control over player totaly revamped ball handling
changed gameplay is control over competitor in my opinion now we stock in to animations all the time

the change of buttons r2 ( the aleyup) on modifier witch will give about much more the field of manoeuvre(nothing the pro evo soccer)
r2 + x - foward pass (this lacks horibly) also from player stnding back tothe basket
r2 + O - aleyup
r2 + square - dunk
square - layup hehe and what brilliant straight lines

the possibility of making jumpstop after slants to front and to back now only 4 directories should be 8

the quicker animation of receipt of application and control over plazer before he will catch the ball or to the nearest player when we have bad pass -big bug now

when we passing foward r2+x to the player wich is standing back to the basket -lob foward pass

possibility of entrances under basket dunks and layups on slant after pressed square
now we loose the control over competitor always it goes in direction of basket directly ,we want to drive for exmpl.
going away from basket ( the np:simultaneously to side line of field)and what it for this goes to can pick hand during layup or dunk -easy as can be shoud be at least 3 directories straight to the basket more on the right or more on the left
witch give us highier layup of the glass for exmpl.

possibility of throw from departure after slants to front and back now only in 4 directions (again shoud be 8)
now to the basket back and on sides shoud be to the basket on the right etc.

gerenaly the largest problem live is continuous the hobble in animations and nonsensical reactions on feints and the feints obviously (majority of them)

the deleting of disastrous throwing on floor after ball how much the razy in game nba this happens?.when the competitor is near relatively to the ball should raise her automatically ( not for long animation) now we stand near at hand by ball and nothing , put in fault of horrible cameras this strange angles that we dont see nor distance nor even the height of jump(or we can be blocked or not)

The replacement of throwing bz the the saving the ball when it goes out field press the triangle we - jump after ball and press pass with direction we -save , off cours when we press wrong direction of pass this ball goes in tribune (depends from the player ranking too)and the speed and heiht of the ball

difference in game with turbo and without use turbo as modificator also diffrent fakes witch turbo easier to loose the ball in dribling

the possibility of pass from the air (like after rebound ) the pass soon after receipt the application
we risk with inaccurate pass obviously(out of ,turnover)

ea plese will remove button , I press - unknown effect ,just implementation that freestye button with directional buttons in dependence from setting current on field and direction to basket ,so easy to do-for keyboard players spiecial

when player is back to the basket after pressing triangle without direction fake almost like it is now after second press fake
same feint but second side
when player is back to the basket after pressing triangle with direction that turn back (spin move?)move(in dir) now sometimes fake sometimes spin

when player is back to the basket pressing triangle with direction before he receive pass you turn in to the basket instanty way zou pressed and possibility to shot from diversion (fadeway) ,just like mj or ewing or olajuwon hehe
mayby better by holding L1 triangle and direction -more intuitive

changing freestyle moves
remove that move analog foward in to always spin move in dir opposite to the hand we have the ball now we dont know witch move player will perform (should newer happend) -big bug
also remove that move analog foward from standing position now its look maybe sweet but reaction othat fake is imposible to implement when zou alwazs perfom that move straight to the opponents fase ,shoud be you fakin startin move to the right or left side on the slant -by move right analog up/left up/right
more responsiwness freestyle on standing posision now he move autoanimation back to 2003 when move depend on every move sour stick ,how much you pushed analog (what angle)
much faster moving from one freestyle animation to another
no auto changing drybling hands
remove move through the legs to simply changing hands ,with r2 -through the legs
same on standing posision
more responsivness freesyle no stock in freesyle move animation when zou even not perfoming it (2003)way better

change freestyle when backtothebasket now after long play i still have no idea with move player will perform ,change them into real moves
also animation should be on as long i hold it no longer and depends on angle(thats why it is analog ea)

reaction on fakes ,when i fake right opponent braking his ankle falling down same way hehe

back the inside fake (should never be removed, little diffrent animation from 2003)

change those teriible cameras in to tv like posibility to edit cameras (it so simple to do)angle height zoom level of foloowing the ball
posiibilty to move in the menu with recomended gamepad on pc or just back to the game after quarter and halftime with
gamepad now its so annoing
i have vision how to change driblling much more (turbo etc) even by simply slower execution some exact moves but its hard to me to explain (my english is weak and there is no bball words in my dictionary hehe)
it could be much easier to show those moves and ideas on the court heh
maby when i ll find some time i will try to write it

Re: Wishes

Wed Dec 29, 2004 3:28 am

Matches wrote:More assists. Not so many people say this but a flaw in the game is that actual gameplay is just not conducive to assists, and it's not just a matter of the way I play the game. Every one of my CPU opponents that I play during a season falls way short of their per-game assist average. I think this is a function of the aforementioned difficulty of running a fast break (which would often include an assists) and the lack of plays/difficulty of understanding what said plays are to accomplish. Not much pick-and-pop, defenders are too quick to adjust to their man off the ball coming off screens, etc.

That is so true .. Also, Offensive players need to break out from their defenders. When yo have the ball in an offesive play, everybody's lined up, you can never find a good passing option. If players tryed to shake off their defenders more you would have some solid passing options. I think this needs to be added in the 10-Man Freestyle, wich is one the right way ...

Wed Dec 29, 2004 3:58 am

Also yeah, the plays don't seem to actually work. The computer-controlled teammates don't actually set the screens they're supposed to, they never get free because the computer rotates too quickly and all the damned blocks..

Plus, they took away your ability to see what the play was, which was idiotic.

Wed Dec 29, 2004 6:57 am

ok so I'm too lazy to read through all of these so I'll suggest some things that probably haven't been mentioned yet. (1) When you put a player on the IL in the game, they should be required to sit 5 games. and (2) for the playoffs, you should set your playoff roster beforehand and only be allowed 12 players

Wed Dec 29, 2004 6:58 am

3. up to 10 man trades. (that's how the rockets first acquire steve francis the greatest)

I'm pretty sure this was actually 2 trades...I don't remember what the seperate trades were, but it wasn't actually a 10 man trade, just 2 seperate ones :)

The rating system needs to be dramatically altered so physical gifts don't alter the rating as much. I know of plenty of players that have all the physical gifts in the world and suck. EA needs to totally redesign the rating system

Oh so true, a guy like Francis has am uch higher rating than he should because of his dunk and jump rating, and a lot of players get too much of a boost from athleticism. Athleticism should only count for ike 30% of the rating, skill should incorporate the rest.

Game Style
One on One! When two good plays playing against each other (like Lakers vs. Celtics, or Rockets vs. Mavericks), they try to beat each other, like the Jordan vs Bird matchup or better the Mcgrady vs Nowitzki

Better Fast Break Animations! Improve the fast break and have players actually run lanes and go all the way to the basket: Too many fast break opportunities end with defenders just standing in front of you like a stone wall and no one is running the lanes to make the defender make a decision.

Better Crowds! Crowd volume to increase when you make a nice shot, gets more louder in the 4th quarter in a close game, you can hear the fans chatting defense, or [Orlando Magic fans] Beat the [Miami] Heat, etc..

Time-Out! Make the time-out a bit more realistic, have the players that have been playing sit down, have a non-menu sub-option that comes up, have the coach talk about topics that you select from another non-pause menu pop-up and have the players something too....

Alley-Oop! The conversion rate just has to be better!

Too many blocks! Should tone it down, but increase the ability of the players to adjust shots. Once you tone blocks down though, the CPU has trouble adjusting shots as well.

NBA on TNT presentation
Half Time Show! don’t need to show other games highlight, but they can show the game scores around the league, and who has the most point, rebound, ex..

Draft
Players Height! Stop making so many 6'1 and 6'2 SG's in the draft
Trade Draft Picks! Ability to trade future draft picks
Players Slip! Decent player can slip in the bottom of the first round or early second round

Trades
Have players demand trades! Instead of having a player just randomly decide he isn't going to re-sign with your team have his agent notify you through the PDA that he wants more minutes, wants a bigger role, wants to go to a contender...etc, whatever, and that he would like to be traded to a better situation.

Trade Block! You could this feature to shop him around the league

Substitution frequency
8-9-10 player rotation! What I mean by this is, like teams like Sacramento that only have an 8-player rotation, their starters & Jackson, Ostertag & Songaila & sometimes Kevin Martin. Have a setting where you can determine that a team is generally an 8,9 or 10 player rotation team, this would make for better substitution patterns.

More computer substitution! When you play against the computer they never subs their players

STORY-LINE CENTRAL
Like Madden! The NBA is full of story-lines weather it's a teammate calling out a teammate, coach vs player, player thinking about retiring, un-happy about contracts, players wants playing time, etc.

Real contract negotiation
Mid-level and lower level exception: It is the only realistic way for teams over the cap to acquire players

New Rating System
Elite - 90 and higher
Great - 80-89
Average – 70-79
Bad- 60-69
Scrubs - 59 and lower

Wed Dec 29, 2004 8:27 am

Use like 5 diffrent guys in mo-cap to do the animation .. Here's why;

Now less skilled players do the same moves as skilled players, only in some sort of slow motion. Shaq's and Iversons spin moves shouldn't look alike, no motions should be the same for shaq and iverson for that mather. I think they should use diffrent player types for all the moves. That way, your five startes will feel alot more individual. If a big clumsy player tryes to go all harlem globetrotters it shouldn't look like it's supposed to do, only in slowmotion, but the moves should look more awkward.

Same thing for running, jumping, passing, shooting, stealing, reciving .. whatever. In live 2005, if i'm not misstaking, a 38 year old Dikembe Mutombo has the exact same running animation as Lebron James (twice the speed, half the age). To me this is a really big problem!!

Wed Dec 29, 2004 11:43 am

Been reading these forums for a while and thought i should put in my 2cents worth.

-I dont like the fact that the CPU players push and slide your ball handler out of court.
-Fast breaks are non existent in Live 2k5
-When picking off an inbound pass it should be considered a steal, but its not.
-Dominant players like shaq shouldnt be laying up the ball when they're in the post and also being out rebounded by less dominant players.
-Alley oop conversion is too low.
-Its too hard to get an assist.
-Player profiles, live 2k5 was the first time they took out profiles and also quick plays have been changed. They keep reverting back to the default quick plays set by EA. I would like to save my quick plays in my profile so that i dont need to keep changing the playbook each time i start a game.
-Player Morale, players should be affected by how well their team plays, how many minutes they get during a game and how well they are playing personally. by including this players will then demand to be traded if they are unhappy or other GM's will ask to trade the player (even if he is good) so that he can get a balanced team.
-GM's should be able to hire or provide funding to staff eg.accountants, to help with negotitating contracts or extending contracts. Offensive/Defensive coaches - to help improve the players. Promoters to help with stadium attendance and/or team sponsoships.
-GM's should control every aspect of the team, salaries, funding to staff, ticket sales/pricing.
-PDA in 2k5, IMO did not add much to the game. You were only allowed to view emails. PDA should be the hub of the team management eg.contract negotiations, reviewing funding and salaries, checking team morale, booking training sessions for players or team, sending out scouts, reading nba news such as injuries or player movements or on players who want to be traded or even articles on hot prospects for the up-coming draft.
-When creating a player, i want to see the players overall rating. In previous lives we were able to do this but in 2k5 i have to exit the player create screen and then check the players overall rating in the edit player screen and then go back to edit the players rating (i do this because i try to create a player with a max. rating of 66)
-Create a player once had nicknames, i like it because it allowed arena announcers to call out the players nickname when they scored.
-Ratings such as jumping is too overated. like what was said before, a player which was crap could be rated 70 because his jumping ability was 90.
-cant forget about in-game saves.
-bring back the cheerleaders and dancing mascots for half-time shows (even if they are just photos with music in the background).
-ability to import rosters during dynasty mode.
-when trading, there should be a calculator to notify if your within the salary cap. its a waste of time when you ask for a trade and they send back an email that there is no cap space for the trade to go ahead.

Thats as much as i can remember, but if i remember anymore i will add them later.
Overall live 2005 was good, but there are little things that make the game frustrating.
