Why the hell are points guards SOOO dominate???

Postby R-Tistic on Mon Jun 05, 2006 2:49 pm

This is an almost major issue I've had with NBA Live for the last few years.....it seems like no matter how good my PG is, how average the opposing team's PG is, and no matter how many better players there are on the opposing team, the PG is ALWAYS shooting and scoring the most. This makes games very unrealistic, and gets on my nerves, especially when I play a game and hope for a "Magic vs. Bird" "Shaq vs. Russell" or "Kobe vs Jordan" type of scenario. Whenever I play the Bulls in my all-time rosters season, Pippen and Jordan get 10-12, even though I made their primacy 99...and Kirk Heinrich or Norm van lier get 30. Same when I play Boston, Cousy gets 35 and Bird gets like 16. I will even double team the PG and high pressure them, but the computer always goes to them.

Does this happen with anybody else? I know it has to, but maybe no one else cares.

Maybe if you assign set plays for the SG's, SF's, PF's and C's you won't have the PG's shooting as much. If you just play the game without changing the playbooks they will attack and shoot more.

For me its freeken steve nash. everytime hes on a fast break with atleast shawn Marion or somebody else running down to you would think hes gona do like a behind the back pass or sumthing but he always lays it up for the 2 points. it freeken sucks. he usually gets about 8 or 9 assists and 30 points a game.

Weird, Nash usually is stoppable in the game. Its very quick ones like Billups, Iverson that annoy u.

Go to the sticky Playbook thread. The PG's will look to pass first and run the offense if you setup the cpu's playbooks. The playbooks are designed to get the go to guy's the ball more often and it stops the PG's from shooting all the time.

I used to have problems with guards but I've been able to adjust and limit them somewhat.

I always have problems with guards like Lue and Skip always scoring 30 or 40 while T-Mac and Yao combine for 20.

Rafer Altson seems to be able to drive inside, then do that little inside one handed shot that posts do and score over any big man defender, regardless of who he is.

I get Tyronn Lued often as well (N) . The PG domination was one of the main reasons I stopped playing live.

what pisses me off is whenever you play against Utah or Portland in the beginning Steve Kerr is talking about how Deron Williams and Sebastian Telfair need to improve their 3 shooting and how its their weakest area, yet every time i play against them they drop fuckin 30 points on me and they shoot 3s like its nothin.

Most annoying point guards for me:
Allen Iverson
Jason Terry
Deron Williams
Sebastian Telfair
Tyronne Lue
Chauncey Billups

i dont seems to have this issue, maybe because i dont go for steals.the way i play is,dont go for steal, and defend by holding down the right analog(back down).with the right analog down, your player will position his body more defensively, and when the opponent drives and you go into his direction,he will be blocked.try it for yourself

Man you guy's are making this way to complicated. Just set the cpu up to run plays for their SG's, SF's, PF's or C's and like I said earlier it solve the problem. There are set plays where the PG's only responsiblity is to distribute the ball and run the play.

Of course if you don't have 2-3 minutes to set of up the plays well then you'll continue to experience the same problems.

LOL....we're making it complicated so we have to go into the game files and manually change them to make it work. If I hadn't been doing similar things since 97 then I would be like "hell nah, that's way too much"

I'm just offering advice as to how to slow most of them down. If it's too much work to program them too pass the ball more or shoot less than I guess it's not worth it. They aren't going to magically stop shooting if people are having these types of problems.

Enjoy the game how ever way you feel fit.
