2 questions about "Rebound"

Fri Dec 09, 2005 8:01 pm

1.sometimes i press the "superstar+rebound" my player dont jump?

2.why press "rebound/block" is better than "superstar+rebound" to get rebound when i cortrol my player."but CPU looks opposition。
they use "superstar+reb" cheats!!!!!!so now i dont cortrol my C and PF when i defence!
CPU no.1 cheat man=KG.

Ill re-phrase that for you man.

1. How come my player doesnt jump when i push the rebound button while using the superstar trigger sometimes?

2. Why do you get more rebounds when you push rebound, as opposed to pushing Rebound + Superstar, whereas the CPU uses the superstar trigger and gets a tonne of rebounds. Now i dont use my Center or Power Forward when i play defence. The CPU does this the most with Kevin Garnett.

I wasnt patronizing you or anything man, but someone will most likely come in and rip on you for your bad english, so i made it a bit easier to understand. Sorry i cant help you out though.

Cheers.

1. a bug probly - try pressing it harder ;)

2. maybe your reflexes just work better to only press one button rather than two, so you jump at a better time while using just rebound/block

The answer is, you just suck at rebounding and need to work on positioning of your PF and C, as well as the timing of your jump.

You and Yao both...

what are you 5 years old? do you feel some type of pride when you are better than others in video games.

and i don't want to postion for rebounds because that is why all the damn ratings are for.

bighort is actually right...

how do you feel to be worse than a 5yr old at this game

how did you know that the CPU made a superstar rebound? first of all, i dont think there really is any.. i haven't encountered a superstar rebound or superstar take charge. There is an outside stopper with a superstar steal and an inside stopper with a superstar block.

i don't know how to relate an inside "stopper" with rebounding.

Well, if the ratings are going to do all the work, why even have the controller in your hand? Ratings do exactly this: all things equal increse the probability that a player with a higher rating will outperform a player with loser rating; nothing more. If you don't position correctly and/or time your jumps, you expect to just rake in rebounds by sucking?

5 years old, please spare me. I told you the deal; whether or not you like it I couldn't care less.

Re-evaluate your opinion, chief.

Lol I agree, there isn't any superstar rebound...

just press shift, then rebound.

before, i used to control the C or PF when a shot is made by the CPU and position myself but more often i got killed with a lot of offensive rebounds by the CPU/opponent. but discovered it is better to press shift then rebound.

so in defense, shift to the man defending the ball, pull back a little so he won't drive pass you. then if a shot is made and once the ball hit the rim, quickly press shift then rebound. hope this helps. but i tell you there'll still be offensive rebounds by the opposing team but with my experience i got to lower it down.

with regards to the superstar rebound. i don't think there is any.

Yes there is a superstar rebound. But I never use it, and I guess nobody does :?

Stoppers

Inside

Hold the left trigger and tap Y,Triangle,Jump(Pro-Hop): Block/Rebound

Hold the left trigger and tap B,Circle,Charge(Shoot): Take Charge

Hold the left trigger and tap X,Square,Steal(Dunk): Steal/Interception

that just means the button though doesnt it?

I believe holding the Superstar trigger and block button after a shot will indeed make your guy jump higher for a rebound, but I've also noticed there's the possibility that he won't jump at all.

What's the deal with the superstar take charge? Is it more likely to draw a foul, quicker, or what??

Tue Dec 13, 2005 10:12 am

oh is that the thing where he boxes the dude out in midair?

Tue Dec 13, 2005 11:39 am

there's no superstar rebound ok! just look at the cinematics of the inside stoppers. can you see him making any rebounds?? only blocks. don't make yourself believe that there is any. if you pressed shift (which i don't know what is binded) and rebound and got the ball then maybe you have a good position below the basket.

AND SUPERSTAR TAKE CHARGE??! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA do you really believe this crap? :D yes you can still press the superstar trigger while pushing those buttons but it is not a superstar move. it's just a plain take charge and plain rebound.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 12:39 pm

I'll just make a video of superstar and regular rebound to show you the difference.
I'll try to do the supergay charge, too.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 12:44 pm

ok. i'd love to see that. :) but i hope it's not the superstar BLOCK wherein your player jumps and his hand slaps the air even though he has no one to defend. that's because the block and rebound are the SAME button.

another comment about this post is that why do inside stoppers have superstar steal? then there would be no difference between the inside stopper and outside stopper abilities.

Who teh fuck knows?

that just means the button though doesnt it?

Nah, the button is between ()

but i hope it's not the superstar BLOCK wherein your player jumps and his hand slaps the air even though he has no one to defend. that's because the block and rebound are the SAME button.

I thought the point of the "Superstar Rebound" was snatching rebounds. That's why the player "slap" the air.

Under your logic, then how does the player differentiate when you only press the jump button between blocking and going for the rebound? He clearly does, so why would it be so hard to fathom, him differentiating the identical instance only using the superstar trigger... ?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 7:50 am

i do great rebounding even usen the PSP's sloppy little analog.

they are the same button, but somehow, the computer DOES in fact know how to differenciate between when to do the blocking action and when to grab a rebound. I know for the fact that there is superstar rebound because i have done it myself and have seen the comp use it themselves MANY TIMES. ever wonder why you see someone like ben wallace or bosh jumping RIDICUOUSLY HIGH (i mean like to the point it seems like they can touch the top of the backboard), thats superstar rebound. ive seen many times chris bosh on my team use it. i would make a video of the difference but i have it on ps2 so i cant (another issue would be that i dont know how to make videos  ).

however, "superstar" taking charge is a different story...never seen it used.
