Really? How do you find it to be more challenging? I wonder if people fantasy draft "differently". Do you find that the real rosters just have a better spread of talented players on each team and that the computer makes stupid decisions when drafting?
I usually give myself a lower pick, and build a team based on the kind of team I like to play (slower, half-court type team with great defense) and not just draft the best players. I also make sure the fantasy picks alternate from the East to West conferences to ensure that one conference doesn't get too unbalanced (especially in light of the fact that not many trades are made by the computer in Live 06) Maybe that helps it, because I've found it to be pretty challenging -- even more challenging then using the real thing. I usually have to move players around a lot to really get what I want... and often have problems with having too many older players. I used to strictly play with the real rosters, but I find it a lot more interesting this way... just seems to be a lot less predictability. But hey that's me -- just hoping they keep the feature in.
Also -- I don't think most people do this -- but I almost always just play one or two full dynasties in the year between games. I rarely will stop a dynasty and start a new one. That's why I kind of wish EA would pay more attention to the depth or personality (or lack of) in the created players once you get 15 - 20 seasons in. I don't understand the point of allowing you to go 25 years, if most people get bored of it after 10. I will often create a lot of players (superstars, role players, etc.) and throw them in the dynasty as I go along after about ten years, just so I can have a little name reconigition haha.
