End of NBA LIVE on PC

I think this NBA LIVE 06 will be the last for PC. It seems EA are really working hard for making games on the XBOX 360, plus the NBA LIVE they are making for XBOX 360 is made from scratch. The next gen NBA LIVE's will be made on XBOX 360 and PS3 and Nintendo Revolution for sure. Will this be the end of LIVE on PC?

For me its not. PC is a computer, u can upgrade it, and not just a console that u cant upgrade. u know what i mean? anything that consoles can do, PC can do it also, and much better.

What is the truth about the new consoles... They are at this time pretty much on the same level as the PC is, but when they are released in the winter they are already a couple of steps behind. Don't get me wrong the new consoles are probably gazillion times better than the old ones, but the fact is that the PC can outperform the new consoles with ease...

PC graphics processors are so much more powerful than the console ones that in it self makes all the difference. Consoles don't have to run Doom 3 at 2000x1600 resolution, but only at 640x480 and some of the hif-def tellys that run 1024x768 resolutions... The graphics aren't as cumbersome and running a console game somehow on a PC with high res involved would really expose the console bubble...

I'm a PC gamer... Live 06 is coming for PC and it's coming for PC probably as long as they make it... The question is when will Sega start making it's NBA game for the PC too... There were already some rumblings about it during the 2k5 production, so it could be 06 or 07 that gets their stuff going for the PC too.

PC is the one constant out there... The device to which you can really make something new and revolutionary for all the time. With console and it's limited resources, you can't be as creative as you've wanted it to be. I believe NBA Live 2006 is the game the creation team has been wanting to create since 2003... Now they probably have the resources to do it with these new consoles... You cannot dream of new wonderful things for the console as it cannot be upgraded...

When the gaming companies kill out the PC gaming genre, that's the day when creativity in gaming is truly dead... Guys like Romero, Meier, Molyneux etc. have not settled for something that has been done million times before and that is why they are so revered in the industry... And that's what keeps us all intrested in gaming...

Just because there are new consoles coming out, doesn't mean PC games are going to be dead. There are new hardware always coming out to catch up or are even better than console stuff. The capability of the PC won't be the reason if EA isn't going to make Live for PC. The main problem would be if your computer is quite outdated that it won't be able to run Live on even the lowest settings

basically.. these new consoles that come out are just PCs with souped up graphics and sound processors....the reason why PCs can outperform the best consoles is the costs.... if you bring out a console that has the performance of a PC, then the price is gonna be that of a PC... hey.... wait a minute... how come this thread's been hijacked already?
anyway... EA has a monopoly in the NBA/NFL/soccer game computer market, so unless they make huge losses, I wouldn't see them dropping that product line.... besides, they usually just convert the console version of the game for PC anyway, so it probably doesn't cost much.

releasing a pc version depends on how big the market is fo pc's.....so far ea has been releasing all of its simulation sports games in pc versions....plus even if pc's are far more advanced than consoles, most ppl hav a basic graphics card that comes in stock with their computer; therefore, its hard to hav a lot of ppl to keep up with the advacing graphics of the game although i dont think the difference b/w pc and console would be the problem for discontinuing pc production....

EA has done their research and find the PC players like to play more by themselves and more complex games. The BIG games are arcadish and fun to play with friends, but it's hard to put four controllers on a PC and play it on a screen that is 19" big... I am a hard core PC gamer, but console gaming in front of a 30" television and some beer and good company with full on four controllers is always great fun. Especially when playing a game like Super Mario Bash or something like that... It's just hilarious and good time...

PC game playing is usually a bit more serious and not directed to be that much "fun" and "fuzzy" as some of the console games...

But are the BIG games really all that much fun when you are playing them solo? Most of the console games that are not released on the PC are usually games which are best played with a couple of friends in the same room... The market has been going toward this kind of difference making for a long time...

So as long as Live is a serious Basket Ball simulation, it will most likely draw a good PC intrest and thus making it for PC is reasonable. Though, I'd like to see some of the other EA releases on the PC too. March Madness for example...

It's true that *some* PC can outperform the next generation console, but did you consider the cost of those PCs? no one would keep upgrading every year to keep up with the latest generation, however if you don't upgrade in PC you would be behind. E.g. three years old graphic cards would not be playable today except maybe the highend at that time.

It's not that they spend extra time to make another version. They also don't have any competitor, and I think this gonna change in the future. In my opinion, it's opposite of what you think. It will not be the end of basketball game for pc in the future, but probably more basketball games. Because Take-Two makes a lot of games for pc. So don't start the rumor

I'm sure EA is aware of the popularity and success of the PC versions of their titles. Breaking it down to the most cynical level, they're not going to eliminate the PC market while it's still feasible to make a profit there. I'm a believer in the "it hasn't happened until it's happened" philosophy when it comes to matters like this. I wouldn't worry about the end of NBA Live on PC until an announcement to that effect is made.

I think the fact that they have overhauled their graphics with a dedication to Maya shows that they will continue to produce the PC version. However I think they will improve their games based on console needs, not PC needs. EA, like every other company, has discovered that its much easier to sell products to consolers, and can take liberties with improvements. What do consolers know, they buy a whole new console every year or two because they're all GROUNDBREAKING!!!!!

About Live 2002... I have not played, but I believe it was a total waste of a release and maybe they didn't want to embarras the new team by putting the then new 2002 out for the PC too. And it was the first live made for the new consoles PS2, XBOX and GC so they were still practising.

Tell me that I'm wrong, but wasn't Live 2002 just bad...

Microsoft's XNA is making it easier for developers to make games for both the 360 and PC. I seriously doubt any stopping of the PC Live. XNA was made to make crossing over better, smoother and easier. It's one of the reasons why so many developers are jumping to 360 even the Japnaese who didn't with XBOX.

i thought that the only reason why nba live 2002 wasnt made for the PC was because it was fubar. more so than the port of all the rest of the lives =\

They make a lot of money of this game or they wouldn't be making it.

Yes, I am sure there are A LOT more players out there than just who visits these forums.

We'll be wayyy out in the future before consoles replace the pc. It is more likely to happen when the PC itself dies as the incarnate it is today, when consoles and pc's merge into a one-in-all solution.

Certainly with the newxbox and ps3 having taken a step closer to the oc architecture, but it will still be a generation or two before the PC as we know it starts withering.

Keep in mind always, that in order to really enjoy the graphics of the new gaming consoles, you'll need an HDTV capable TV; which is far from common in Europe and Asia. I believe HDTV is still only subject in USA and Japan.

You can take that from a guy who's been there since the beginning of the philips G7000 and the first Atari, I've tried the lot, studied the development and am an insider of the entertainment industry. No reason to fear the death of gaming on PC's

THERE WILL NOT BE LIVE '06 ON PS3 GOD DAMNIT.

Live comes out in October of 2005, the PS3 comes out in Spring of 2006, WHAT THE FUCK DO WE WANT LIVE 06 SO LATE FOR?! By the time it's on PS3, It'll be the NBA Playoffs, THEY WON'T DO THIS.

Live 2007 shall be slated for PS3 Release.

Live '06 will be ONLY on 360 from this standpoint.

Everyone can expect '07 on the Next-Gen Systems.

Think about it...EA has the ESPN license, what better way to enter into the new Next-Gen Systems than with ESPN. It's so perfect.

EA Sports will continue doing their business with the CURRENT SYSTEMS until they throw up the 2007 Sports Line-Up.

P.S.: NBA Jam: Tournament Edition was released on SNES in 1994, and they didn't put it out for Next Gen Systems like PSX until 1995, which is GAY

I have a feeling that the PC will win in the end...

The consoles take steps up every 4-5 years, but PC will always the system with the best hardware...

And PC will never die until you can do your office work on a console system and by then it will probably be more like a PC than a console as we know it.

Regards to PC gaming, that's a whole other issue, but as long as there are developers that set their bars high, there will always be games for PC. Only when creator guys will settle for resources of a 3 year old device will the PC gaming genre die... The visionaires will keep the PC gaming alive forever... It's that simple.
