FIX FOR GAME CRASHING AT LAUNCH!

Wed Feb 01, 2006 6:02 am

Do you go to run NBA Live and then it crashes when it launches? Maybe you get an error message, or maybe the game just plain closes and you don't see an error message?

How about you get past that, then go to start a 5v5 game, and the same thing happens?

Most likely you have less than a gigabyte of ram and you have a processor less than 1.5 ghz.

The problem is, you have processes that are taking up your memory. RAM, in other words.

The way to bypass this is to close all unneccessary tasks, like anti-virus, AIM, MSN messenger, things like that.

This might fix it, it might not, depending on how much ram you have. If you only have 512mb of ram, it probably won't.

What you need to do now is find a RAM Cleaner. Most will work just fine, I use CyberLat RAM cleaner 1.1. You will want to free up the maximum ram that the program allows... 512mb in my case because thats all the RAM I have.

After that, you should be able to run the program fine.

Another alternative would be to buy more ram.

Hope this fixes your problem! :)

Stickied.

sorry but i refuse to believe you can't run nba live with 512 ram and msn/anti-virus/etc running. there are A LOT of people here running nba live with 512mb without any problems.

the ram cleaning thing might be a good tip but the rest sounds like nonsense.

They most likely have a faster processor.

Most people with these problems have a slow processor AND only 512mb of ram.

Yeah, i have Celeron 2.4GHz and 512mb RAM and my game works fine, the graphics card is my problem (N)

Thanks for the program

Big difference between 2.4ghz w/ 512mb and a 1.1ghz with 512. :)

np, that program works fine, I haven't had a problems since.

I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner. lol

Well it definately would have happened by now if I had not followed the instructions I posted, so thats the fix. :)

does anyone know if having both .Net Framework 1.1 and 2 would result in crashing?

I'm not sure. This isn't the right thread to ask this, you should probably make one yourself.

Also, you should ask microsoft if its OK to have 2.0 installed over 1.1.

Sure, although CPU and GPU are fast, graphic card doesn't allow you to have a better gaming experience...

after i did a fresh install i was able to play a game (no mods were used)as soon as i add the TNT, ball, net, font, roster, and AIACT patches my game crashed. my specs are 2.4 GHz, ATI 9200, 1GB RAM.. i used to always be able to play but now i just can't.

Sat Feb 04, 2006 9:59 pm

Re-install the game and don't add the AIACT patch or something.

lol it's funny when people get prblems. coz i have a:

1) 256 mb crap ram

and 2) an even crappier geforce2 mx400 card. and i dont have any issues at all (except it is a lil bit slow than usual - time to upgrade? nah lol)

I'm having the same problems. I have a 2.53 mhz p4 with 1gig corsair xms gaming memory, plus a x850xt vid card & I still get crashes. When I re-install the game with no mods, everything works fine. When I use all the different enhancements (cybefaces, courts, etc.) I start crashing at the superstar screen.

I'm gonna give this program a try. Hopefully it fixes all my issues! :)

I agree. I can play Live 05 on my secondary computer, and its got a
P3 1.2Ghz with 512mb. The video card is a Ti4600.

Ram cleaning won't do anything. The results are marginal. And this still hasn't helped a majority of the people.

Is there a possible memory leak in the game itself? I remember some other games that released patches due to memory leaks. Couldn't EA release a patch?

Nope, EA barely addresses flaws or bugs in their sports games, and either way, they're too preoccupied with the new flashy "Live on the 360" to pay attention to the crapass port they've given us.

Thu Apr 20, 2006 9:06 am

Well, I have a 2.78 GHz processor and 1.00 GB of RAM and my game crashes everytime I try to launch a game.

Thu Jun 26, 2008 2:25 am

i run nba live 08 with no problems, but when i run nba 06, it starts, and stops. i donno wt happened.

Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:28 am

Did anything pop out like "Error".
If it did I had the same problem, I checked the C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 06 if I have acciendentally putted some files in here rather then the SGSM file. I moved the files to sgsm and it worked.

Thu Jun 26, 2008 5:00 pm

nothing poped out...when i start, it just shows the nba live 06 screen, disappears, doesnt go into fullscreen, and it as as though nothing happened. everything was gone, nothing indicating that i had even initiated the game.

Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:01 am

is 3.20 Ghz processor good speed or bad speed?

Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:08 am

I'm sorry then I don't know what can I do to help you. Maybe ask someone else.

Wed Jul 09, 2008 12:24 pm

its ok now...i reinstalled it about 3 times and it worked...
maybe its just this random error and i am just very, very , very unlucky :-(
