The easiest method of removing them from the active roster is to first release them into the Free Agents (so that you won't leave gaps in the roster slots on their respective teams) and then change their TEAM and CASH_TEAM to 32 (the Retired pool).

Which program did you use to modify the players.dbf file?

When you've moved players to the Retired Pool, have you left any gaps on NBA teams? If so, that could be causing the crash.

no gaps on NBA teams, i put the the players into the free agent pool before i delete them, then their teams is filled with created players... do you think it's because of the created players' salary?

Is it possible to delete entire teams too, like the reebok teams for example?

It's likely a missing or invalid value somewhere. Make sure the created players have a salary entered and that the years remaining on their contract is at least 1.

I don't think so, at least I can't think of a way offhand.

Sorry, that's kind of like finding a needle in a haystack. Do you have any recent backups that work? If so, you might want to retrace your steps with the last few changes you made.
