Couple of questions: Asst Coaches and play-offs

hey guys,
i've been playing this for a few months on xbox, and just finished my 1st dynasty season with the bulls... just a couple of questions i've thought about throughout the season.
1: Asst Coaches: i've got 2 of them, and i have heaps of trouble getting them to do what i want.
eg: i want to turn ed curry into power, so i assign them both to him for 2 weeks on offense, and hope to increase his dunk rating... but when the training period is over, i get this msg on my pda sayin some shit like 'jannero pargo has shown some improvements in blocking'. WTF
i hardly ever get the player i want trained, let alone the attributes.
anyhow, have you guys experienced this? is there any way to get the players i want trained?
2: playoffs: i finished the seasn 73-9 on superstar, without touching the sliders.
but come play-off time, for some reason the game-play got MUCH easier. like i was get blowout wins every game, hitting 3's at will (which i couldnt do in the regular season) and eventually swept everyone.
is it just me or does the game-play in the play-offs get piss-easy all of a sudden? haha or am i just paranoid

1. Even though you place focus on a particular player, the entire team is trained.
2. Can't say I noticed that myself, though since you finished 73-9 in Superstar in the regular season I'd say you dominated the season from start to finish anyway.

should i assign him to be trained for like 3 weeks with 100% on offence?
also, at the end of last month i noticed 8 messages with improvements.is that generally how it is? do you have to wait til the end of the month to see most of the improvements?

It depends how long you've set the assistant coach's focus since you usually get a majority of the progress reports towards the end of the assigned duration.
Getting a player FSS abilities depends on how close a player is to attaining them as well as their Learning and Work Ethic ratings. Players with poor ratings in those categories are harder to develop as they won't be keen to put in the time and effort to improve even if you have your assistant coach work with them constantly.

Just a thought, the entire team being trained as per PDA report is an after effect of the training camp. Remember that you assign value percentages to each coach. That effects not just on training camp, but well after the season. You might notice that you get such report even before you begin assigning individual sessions with coaches.
And Andrew is right, the higher the work ethic and learning attribute, the easier it is to increase a player's ability - with training. Plus, it also depends on how good the coach is. Normally, coaches with A+ gets the job done in 2-3 months. I developed my PF into a Power FSS that way, in just one season.
