Keyboard keys not recognized

In NBA Live 2006, moves bound to keyboard keys are not recognized during gameplay (eg, I bound direct pass is bound to 'left shift' -- which is the key I've been using since Live '98, but although it says 'left shift' in the controller config menu, nothing happens when I press the key in the game.) The same thing happens with the direct shoot (layup) key. I like to play with a combination of a keyboard and my trusty joystick (a gameport wingman). Does anyone here know how to fix this?

Never mind.. according to EA technical support:

"Unfortunately, you cannot use a keyboard and a controller at the same time. You can only use a controller or a keyboard to your profile."
