Players.dbf changes not taking effect in Dynasty mode.

So I have a player that went undrafted in Dynasty mode. I signed him a couple years ago and he's really good. But even after a rookie season in which he averaged 20 points and a great stat line... his ratings progressively get worse during each 'player evolution' period.

So I decided to edit the DBF to up his ratings (nothing unrealistic). I opened up my DBF editor (I use openoffice), loaded the players.dbf from my dynasty save folder, edited the player's ratings, saved, and launched the game. It's not taking effect.

Am I getting old and I've forgotten a step?

ive come to the conclusion that you cant edit players that you draft is what ive figured out

like in 10 years from now (in dynasty) i can have lebron and edit his ratings fine..but someone whos a 9 year player you cant edit his ratings

Gah, that's ridiculous. Hm... perhaps changing the column that has to do whether the player was generated or not will help. I'll try that- thanks Malfa.

Sonuvabich. Looks like it doesn't work.

I did change his "DESTINY" column rating though. It goes from 0-8, 0 being great chance of progression, 8 being no chance... he was a 6, put him at a 0. I might sim a season (and not save of course) to see if this helps.

Edit: No, that didn't work either. This is really dumb. Something interesting though... while the changes in ratings I made on the DBF never showed up during the season, on the player evolution screen after the season, it showed his 'old' ratings as the ones I put in in the DBF. So it was like:

2009-2010
Overall: 79

2010-2011
Overall: 59

Well, I'd suggest not screwing with it. I got serious DBF error, immediate crash. It may just be a coincidence, because my backup files aren't working either now- dynasty hosed.

You might want to try another DBF editor. Aside from that, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

ive tried this before. If u change his rating then it sometimes takes affect in a dynasty, but after a year his rating will go back to an orignial or a little bit worse/better.

did u edit both entries for that player, if u only edit 1 nothing will happen.

each player on your team has 2 entries in the players dbf, scroll down
